In the US, I travel approximately 50-70 nights a year for both work and personal trips, largely at Marriott and Hilton properties. I have never experienced a hotel so family friendly. We were surprised throughout our entire stay from checkin, where they offered our kids a welcome gift to the room design to the library located adjacent to the restaurant. Our kids loved being at the hotel and it made the rest of our trip, staying in non Novotel properties, much less comfortable. 1. Staff friendliness: We spent 3 weeks traveling through Europe in 6 different hotels, including a short stay at Disney. The hotel staff was exceptional. 2. Room: We stayed in a family room for 4. The kids beds were adjacent to the window (they have safety mechanisms in place). They loved looking out at the pool and seeing the city from the 3rd floor where you could see homes and church steeples. Magical view. This is the only hotel where a stool was provided under the sink. Someone could use it for sitting, but our kids (3 and 5 years) could stand while brushing their teeth. For parents, you know what a big deal this is. The family room bed was great. Couch by day and bed + trundle bed at night. Both beds were cozy and our girls loved them. 3. Breakfast: If you are on the fence as to whether to purchase the room with breakfast, go with the breakfast. There were so many options for all ages: coffee machines, juice bar, yogurt bar, fresh breads, chocolate crossaints, muffins, eggs, meats, ... With young children, starting the day with a meal that you just show up for - no wait- where everyone is happy was a perfect start to everyday in Brugge. 4. Library/Kids Area: Our kids loved this area stocked with books for adults and children. They felt very independent, as we finished our coffee they would go on their own across the room to this area meeting other children from different countries. 5. Proximity to Koningin Astridpark: Our kids loved this park and everyday we visited at some point. There is a grocery adjacent and a great Pattiserie (Schaeverbeke) less than a block away where we picked up sandwiches. 6. Proximity to the Central station: We arrived via the train and took a quick Bolt to the hotel (less than $15). 7. Grocery store nextdoor. This was super helpful for snack /fruit purchasing daily. We loved the Novotel. We look forward to returning to Brugge and will definitely book Novotel for future European travel.

I don't mind it looking old but the shower door doesn't do a thing to keep water in, leaving me with a giant flood in the bathroom each time I shower. The toilet also doesn't flush well at all. It tricked water in which is just enough to remove any trace of a #1 after 20 seconds, but leaves the TP behind. Forget flushing a #2-sorry for the TMI but this would be so much worse if I were not traveling alone! My stay is being sponsored by the meeting I'm attending so I'll stay and not complain but if this were my own money I would certainly be out of here after 1 night. The room is also very warm and I don't think that can be controlled by individual room. I opened the window but it was very loud on the street below so bring earplugs. On the plus side, the breakfast was great and I hear the spa is also very nice but I won't be going because it's no clothing allowed and mixed gender. So I've stayed in a LOT of 5star hotels. All have been grand but THIS hotel outshines them all. I have been here before - quick stays as a 'sidebar', over nighters. But this time decided on an extended stay. It's a smaller hotel, less than 20rpoms in total. But each is elegant & comfy & welcoming. Our suite is beautifully arranged with gorgeous roof top views and a sun deck for the 4 rooms on our floor. The unbelievably gorgeous restaurant is by night the amazing Le Mystique (wonderful food, elegant atmosphere, and the kindest, most attentive staff!! A MUST!!). and a beautifully done breakfast buffet by when the sun comes up. Their specialty is poached eggs and OH!! Are they 'special'!! Charcuterie & Sausages & Bacon & breads & fruits & grains & yogurts & cakes & juice & coffee & Champagne round out the delicious menu. The location is perfect! A 3 min walk to the main market place, 5 min to the main shopping area, and dozens of restaurants close by. A local food market is across & a bit down the street & Belgium Waffles are a hop away. But far and away.. the thing that separates this hotel from all others are those who seem to love working here. If I could figure out how to rate a review with 6 stars, I would give them 20. To say they are accommodating would be a bit like saying winning a hundred gazillion billion dollar lottery is 'a pleasant afternoon'. I could spend hours, remembering the kindnesses & smiles & attentive acts and never feel as tho I have given them enough respect. They are truly all just spectacular. I have never encountered a kinder, more attentive staff than that of the Heritage. The hotel location could not be more convenient. They offer valet parking, which feels necessary in Bruges, and for €30 a day - well worth it! The breakfast included in our stay also had champagne- yes- I said champagne. In the evenings a tray of port and sherry is brought to your room with a light snack as an aperitif, and gratis! The hotel restaurant - Le Mystique- was the superb fine dining experiences of my life. I cannot say anything negative about this hotel - it is just not possible. If I ever find myself in Bruges again, I will absolutely be staying here.

They provided breakfast every morning which was good and the option for dinner which was also good but we opted to go out in Bruges. The hotel bar stayed open late so when we got back they were very accommodating with snacks and drinks. One of the better things about this particular hotel is that it is in the center of town so it is definitely a great location to walk to everything.

The room was clean, big enough, great free breakfast, knowledgeable staff and a location that convenient but away from the hustle and bustle of busy Bruges (that sounds strange). Additionally, as long as I don't get bed bugs, and decent rest, I think the hotel serves its purpose. Showers are basically in the room and only divided by opaque glass that doesnt reach the ceiling. Toilets have their own door.
