This is the better oriental market in Jacksonville. I would suggest visit them in the beginning of weekend. Because weekends has additional fresh food items on sales. They have ready made food to take home and eat immediately. This includes lunch items, bakery, and more. The market also have fresh blue crab for sales. They also carry many Vietnamese cuisine materials. Fresh vegetables also available to shop. They also carry topneck clam, salmon head, squid and more. I like their fresh food items which make it very convenient to open and eat. They also carry some moon cake during the festival. read more

The service, is pretty much like average Filipino supermarkets and so is the atmosphere. The store is pretty crowded though. I love coming here. There is a large variety of spices, mixes, sauces, snacks, seafood. The shelves are constantly being rearranged, so that makes searching through the cramped aisles a little bit more difficult. The vegetables for me are a hit or miss. Some times, everything looks fresh, and then there are other times when signs of spoilage are already starting to show (bulk garlic, mushrooms...). Still, I love this market because there are items here that I can't find anywhere else (Thai Fanta, Thai Lays). read more

I grew up on this side of town and have been open ever since , they have such fresh veggies and fruit! I bought amazing spring rolls for my and my bf to try with peanut sauce and it was amazing! I tried searching online for popping juice boba balls. The man at yogi frozen ice cream said they come in a container. He said the oriental place near the strip club on Emerson had them, It's rough over there. Neither Asian market had nor understood the words that were coming outta my mouth. It was packed in there and really small. I found only brown sugar and another lighter Flavor. I enjoyed the variety, the prices, and the location. This is abit of a drive for me but I find La Salsa Market to be a hidden gem of an Asian Marketplace. The hard to find stuff, I feel I can find shopping here. Just be prepared though... Walking inside this market, your nostrils are immediately slapped by the smell of strong seafood. The scent comes from their open window, self-serve Seafood counter, that carries different fishes, squids and shrimps. So once you get past the seafood smell, then you are golden. Their shrimps are nice sized, competitively priced. They also sell live blue crabs. They carry an abundance of unique items so take your time shopping. The isles are pretty tight though. Additionally some of their items are not labeled, so just be patient. All in all, I really liked this place. First time here and definitely not my last. read more

Giving 2 stars just because it seems like it has a lot of different products. But this store smells really, really bad! 30 mins later I can still smell it and I have a huge headache and the worse ... I didn't stay longer than 5 mins. I was really bummed because I would have really loved looking around and buying some different things but man, this store stinks really BAD! I have no problem with the seafood smell (although, if kept up to sanitize, it shouldn't have been as bad. But, going right through the front door, boxes of rotten mangoes that you would have to be blind not to see them or not have a sense of smell. My daughter stayed in longer and bought herself a few snacks and she came home with a stomach ache. And, if you have even the slightest bit of OCD, you are better off not going in. There is an oriental store off Baymeadows and it's more organized as well as it doesn't have a strong rotten odor. read more

This place is called La Salsa Market but not sure they named it that way. It is actually an Asian Market with fresh vegetables, fruits, fresh seafood, and frozen section like spring roll wrappers, wonton wrappers, etc. If you need soy sauce and other Asian sauces they have that. They have a variety of noodles. They also have baked Asian goods, candies, mochi, etc. Warning... like with any Asian store which sells seafood, there is that seafood smell just saying. If you are looking to cook or eat Asian food this is the place. Staff are helpful and lines go quickly. read more

I love Korean Food, and even more so I love making it myself so that I can pick and chose which ingredients I want to leave out. The major flaw to La Salsas is that it has this pungent odor and idk what it is honestly. I don't come here to buy anything fresh. Everything is noodles, fried chicken skin, sauces and pre packaged rice cakes. I've found a few out of date items (like waaaay out of date) so check your food before you get in line. I will say that they always have what I am looking for and their customer service isn't bad when you can find them. The regular clothes makes everyone blend in so it's a little confusing. I've busted a few Korean markets and La Salsa is the biggest so far but I have found most of what I needed in any market. read more

We happened to be on this side of town and had had a craving for some Filipino cookies recently. This place doesn't come up via google for Filipino or Asian grocery but a quick call to a buddy helped us find it. Odd name for an Asian market as the name implies Hispanic. Nevertheless we found what we needed and I discovered a new Asian market. They have fresh veggies, many Asian staples, a frozen section, and a fresh seafood area. I usually accumulate my Asian grocery list and now know if I'm in the neighborhood, I have a new place to shop for those items. read more

La Salsa Market is an oriental market that sells great variety of produce, fruits, seafood, and other products for reasonable prices. Their prices are based on weekly wholesale market, meaning their prices fluctuate. A box of rambutans may be $15 in one week and then $13 the following week. I've been a loyal customer since they first opened in 2012. Honestly, it's probably the best Asian market in Jacksonville. If I ever miss an ingredient for my wonderful dinner, I'd drive 5 mins to this place. This place, however, is very small. The aisles are very crammed and sometimes it's a little difficult to pass through. Another thing is their sales policy. Their sales are final, meaning no return or exchange. Where do I begin. This place is amazing for all of your Asian needs. My children love the candy and I love the entire place. Yes there is sometimes a smell but seriously if you have ever smelt durian (of which they have) then you know some smells aren't quite what they seem. It's all about the mangoes! My love of mangoes is also as bad as frozen yogurt. Mango smoothie, dried mangoes, mango yogurt, mango juice, mango flavored candy, mango shrimp, mango salsa ... I can go on. I literally went "oooooo" when I small the tall boxes of mangoes outside the store. I'm a little confused about the name. I just assume it would be a Latin/Hispanic grocery store/market. But the items are catered to Asian cuisine. And man do I love Asian markets. Produce galore! Freshest, greenest, sweet smelling items bursting with color at the displays. Exploring the isles I also found canned ackee and calloo. So there are some Caribbean items on the shelves. But they had everything you could possible need to create a good meal if you can cook. And if you can't they have this small freezer area that has prepared meals. Filled with cuts of meat, vegetables, and base. I guess you just add it to some boiling water and you have a meal? A-OK!! Why have I not been here before?!?! Oh, it's cause it's not listed as an Asian market. I thought it was a Latin store. This will be my go to place for Asian groceries. Their produce section is pretty large and cheaper than big names markets. Their seafood section did not smell fishy at all, that's a plus. The isles are a bit narrow and the place is not super clean but it's not dirty. In the freezer area they have goldilocks brand goodies. We got the siopao and will not get this again. I only come here as a last resort and if I'm in the area when I need something at the last minute. And that happened today when I realized I needed egg roll wrappers to make my lumpias for the Super Bowl party, and the other Asian store near my gym won't open for another hour... I'm not waiting that long! (and already got my workout... LOL). Yes La Salsa has pretty much any Asian item you may need. But that's about it. Forget customer service. Forget presentation. As other Yelpers have mentioned, aisles are tight and items are in disarray. I'm sure a lot of the items they have on the shelves may be expired. The checkout system is chaos. There is no orderly fashion to wait a line, and if it backs up you end up blocking aisles and sometimes the only exit (think fire safety). The older lady seems to be friendlier, but the younger one lacks any customer service whatsoever. There are a handful of other Asian stores within a few miles driving distance. I suggest go to those places instead. read more

Cheap veggies and fruits with all the basic Asian sauces, spices, and foods you could need! I'm from San Diego and this is the closest thengb I've found so far that compares to a Seafood City or Manila Market. Now, with that being said, it's not Filipino-based (but there is a Filipino store just down the plaza). They DO have basic veggies used in Filipino dishes like bok choy, etc. Don't expect super clean displays or something like Public, because these stores are not like this. It's very raw and almost warehouse-like. They have fresh meats and fish for sale as well as some beauty products, but very few. The main focus are the veggies, spices, sauces, rices, and meats! Get more bang for your buck and go here instead of a grocery store if you live nearby! read more

Pros: There is a great selection of flavorings, sauces, spices, etc. for Vietnamese and Chinese cooking. There are also an assortment of curry powder and paste (Indian, Thai, and Japanese), which is one of my favorite dishes. They also have a lot of Asian snacks. They are mostly Vietnamese and Chinese snacks, but they do have Japanese Pocky and ice cream mochi snacks! I LOVE POCKY! I've been to a lot of Asian stores in the area, and they all have the cheap Thai made Pocky, which are DISGUSTING compared to the Japanese ones. They use different type of chocolate, and you can really tell the difference. So please check the box before you buy them! But if you're specifically shopping for Japanese or Korean food, then this store may not be for you. They don't have a good selection of Japanese and Korean food here. This place also sell fresh produce (sometimes not so fresh), fruits, and fishes. They also have the small yellow Asian mangos, which I also adore. You get the point; they sell wide selection of Asian food here. You can tell this place is a legit Asian store because most of the people that shop here are older Asian immigrants. Cons: When you walk in the store, you get hit in the face with a strong smell of fish. The items are pretty unorganized, and you might have to spend a little more time to find your desired items. The prices are slightly more expensive than Harry's Fresh Produce near "Rex, the Beach Blvd Dinosaur" (My wife's favorite Asian store). If you buy fish there and you want them to clean them for you, then they charge you $1 per pound of fish. You have to spend $10 or more in order to use a credit card, but that's pretty much every Asian stores around here. Like the other lady suggested, check your receipt and count your items because they are known to charge you for extra items you did not get. We have not had that experience, but some of our friends had and warned us about this dishonest practice. Conclusion: Overall, we still like this market because of the wide variety of Asian products that are difficult to find elsewhere in Jax. If you're planning to do some Asian cooking, then I would recommend you to check out this store especially if you're making a Vietnamese, Chinese, or Filipino dish. read more

I like to cook and some of the dishes that I cook call for some fairly specific ingredients you cannot find just any where. So when a chef friend told me about finding Thai ingredients at La Salsa, I was in. But riddle me this......isn't La Salsa Spanish? The first thing you notice when you walk is the 3000 ft.² it is set up like a Cosco. There are boxes upon boxes and shelves upon shelves. Almost everything is in languages I don't understand, which is not like CostCo. And while I can tell they have a vegetable section, darned if I can tell what everything is. I, of course, was the only non-Thai person in the shop, each if the times I visited. And each time I had to ask questions, lots of questions. And other than one lady who did not approve me of touching her cart while she carefully inspected some prickly leaf things, everyone was helpful. Now, if I could only learn to cook Thai food properly. read more

Yes, this is an Asian store. Sorry for those who were misled by the name. But Filipinos are going to love this if they found out what products this store has to offer. First, they have a wide variety of vegetables, we Filipinos use for common dishes like Pinakbet, Kare-kare, Sinigang, etc. Vegetables Water spinach, bokchoy, mustard leaves, basil, chives, different chillies, banana heart, string beans, chayote and many more. They also have a wide variety of fruits like the usual and dragon fruit, tamarind, rambutan, sininguelas and many more. Second, they offer fresh seafood, too. Fresh!!! Yup, you read it right. You can get fresh milkfish from here! I've been on several fish market here in Jacksonville and nobody else sells fresh milkfish. And we Pinoys love our bangus for Sinigang, Paksiw and Daing! They also got shrimp, squid, octopus, and other fishes. And there's no fishy smell at all in the seafood area. Ain't that fishy? Third, they have Goldilocks products! Yes, you read that right! The authentic Goldilocks products are sold here! They've got the pork/chicken buns, ensaymadas, mamon and ready to cook bbq. Magnolia products such as ice cream, longganisa, tocino and other ready to cook stuff are available here. I think the owners are Vietnamese... I say so from the ready to eat snacks that they sell close to the cashier. They have bahn mi, noodles, their version of pork bun which I tried and was good and tasty. So, why only 4 stars? Well, it's not as clean as a regular store is supposed to be. But it's not that dirty to prevent me from coming back. Like I mentioned earlier, the seafood area does not smell fishy at all. They're probably cleaning that area too well and not giving the other areas as much attention. Please don't let the name confuse you, its an asian market. One of the Asian markets in Jax that provide plenty of fresh produce. Produce that some of the other markets don't even carry, or if they do, they're sold out. Definitely come on Friday, that is when the bulk of the produce is delivered & shelved. Everything else is lacking in variety within their teas, condiments, & snacks but the good thing is that they're continuously adding new options. However I wished their snacks didn't have palm oil, had to give up my childhood favorites due to this. I guess that means I'll eat a lot healthier, don't mind my brief digression. Regardless, you can buy a majority of your basic groceries/ingredients here for your Asian cooking. Their seafood area is growing too. However it would be nice if they could offer fresher fish. A free tip, an indicator for freshness is the clarity of the fish's eyes ;). One thing that is great, they finally relocated to a larger store front! The previous one (on the corner of the same shopping center) was cramped! That was an understatement. Plus the husband & wife owners hired more help. Thank goodness because it was chaotic during rush hour. Can't just have the two operating the cash register with no other help on the floor. I sometimes come here when I want great deals on hard to find produce but don't mind the unorganized lanes. My go to place for all my oriental groceries! All of the items are fresh and reasonably priced. Much cheaper than your typical publix/ Walmart or other grocery store! I used to like going to this store when it was new but everytime I go there it gets more and more crowded! Like I understand a lot of Asian supermarkets don't really have a layout but it's so crowded to the point where two people can't even pass in one aisle. On top of that the products are iffy bc everytime I buy noodles from there I must look carefully bc sometimes there's little bugs that eat away in the noodle strands. The variety of Asian food and snacks they offer is amazing but I'm not sure about the freshness of it all. Another thing is the employees, they used to be very nice in the earlier years but one time this lady was coming at my mom sideways bc one of our cards declined and she was like 'you have too many cards that's why' like as an employee you shouldn't comment on our financial stuff, we have a lot of cards bc we have a business. And always double check when they scan bc sometimes they'll scan twice and act like they didn't know so check your receipts! read more

This market has a lot of stuff, even hard to find items. The problem is finding it. This store is super packed so tight it's one person in the aisles at a time. It's very cramped and the staff are very unhelpful. I saw online they had a product which said was in stock but when I went in a looked over the store a number of times and couldn't find it. Then I asked and the staff wouldn't help me, I even had a picture of what I was looking for. The vegan meats were super overpriced - like 300% over priced. Great Asian market in Jacksonville. The food variety is majority Filipino. But they do have mix inventory also of Japanese, Korean, Vietnamese and Chinese. My favorite part is all the Asian vegetables that are fresh and very affordable. They have really great variety of Asian snacks and different types of noodles. They even have fresh fish and shrimp in the back. The staff is very helpful and they are Cambodian which is pretty cool. I most recommend people to come and shop here for good prices. read more

Most of the time, we shop here to get our produce and seafood such as fish, jumbo shrimp, and even squid :). Calamari anyone? Their produce price are about 30% up to 50% cheaper when compared to Publix and WalMart's produce. The same goes to their seafood prices. I love pomegranates. WalMart has them for $2 while I bought some at La Salsa for $1 a piece. You can also find other exotic fruits and veggies not seen in other supermarkets. read more

crazy good prices on everything you need! Spices are half the price of a grocery store for the same exact items. They have the huge cans of Milo and Café Dumonde Coffee. A great selection of instant noodles, fresh veggies and even the mountain yam I need to make Takoyaki. That is something really hard to find here. Check out their frozen dumplings and steamed buns. Be careful when you check out! I've been here may times before and now I will always check the receipt. The last three times I shopped at salsa, they over charged me for two to three items that was clearly marked on that item. I thought maybe it was an honest mistake but when it's three times in a row, it's intentional. Most of the items don't have a price sticker. They're always busy and really don't need to be dishonest. Let's start with a story. I headed to La Salsa's for some bean sprouts, limes, and onions but I realized I didn't have cash because they only take cash. (WRONG recently realized the do accept credit cards, it's still a good story because I thought it was true at the time!.) I managed to scrounge around for $2, and I had some change figuring I'd see how much I could get. I came out with a pound of bean sprouts, 5 limes and two onions for my measly $2. All fresh and delicious. The bean sprouts were light and crunchy, and the limes were ripe without blemishes. This place is one of the best spots for hard to find items like Jack fruit, durian and lyches at the best price. Things that are pretty expensive at Publix (don't get me wrong I love Publix, but you can't go wrong here) like pomegranates, chestnuts and avocados are a pittance here. If you love to cook, you gotta go! , They get new shipments in on Thursdays, so Fridays are the best time to go see them! read more

Great ethnic food market off Beach Blvd. They have a ton of goodies, produce, seafood on ice, frozen fair, and spices mainly from Asia. It seems like their turnover is quick so nothing sits on the shelves for an extended period of time. My only gripe is that this place just seems like it's organized chaos. The aisles are close together and it seems like they make an attempt to organize their goods. Maybe it's because they keep a lot of their goods in boxes so presentation is a bit blah. But, I can't complain since they typically carry most items I need for my cooking adventures. They also have an area by their registers where they display baked goods for purchase. The baked goods come from another location, not made in-house. They do, however, make some type of green papaya salad in house. I've seen them make it to order at times for people, and sometimes they have packages already made it. I've never personally tried them myself, but they seem to sell out quickly so it's definitely worth a try. They do accept card here, so that's a plus too! read more
