This is an excellent elementary school. Full disclosure, I was a previous teacher here and I no longer work here. After seeing the school from the inside out, I would 100% send my future children here. Principal Barbie Perez is an amazing person who cares about the children and families. The campus is gorgeous, the curriculum is nature-centered, technology is rarely used and students are outdoors a lot. Students are advanced in science and they have excellent class to teacher ratios so students are getting personalized attention. Not knowing anyone that went there I Took a chance and put my son there for PK3. He loved it. It is very nature based and they spend more than 50% of the day outside which for us was a great fit for our son. The teacher (Mrs Michelle and Ms Rosie) were beyond amazing and so loving. Even if you send your kiddos for camp it's a great time and they will reconnect with nature. Love that they also do yoga and a little "meditation". Truly a special little school. read more

I am in love with this school! Im beyond happy that everyday my son is dropped off he jumps of happiness and cries every time he is picked up because he does not want to leave. The teachers truly care for their kids. Anything I need or questions I have they have beer very quick and helpful. My son has always been curious but now he seems to have a bigger interest in the alphabet and coloring which he has been learning in school. It is a family environment and make the kids and families feel cared for. Put my kids in this summer camp during this last summer (2020). At first it was ok, but I ended up taking my kids out a week earlier than I planned to. The field trips were disorganized, and there were way too many kids in the classroom. I was told it was because the new teacher was "learning", but during covid I believe having about 17-18 kids in a class was way too much. The owner wouldn't reprint to my emails regarding my concern for the class size and it wasn't until a week later when I asked her in person did she finally let me know what was going on. We were promised ceramics and a lots of playing outside and there was none of that. There was no painting as was also mentionedC but lots of coloring. The coloring also had to be done in a certain way or else the teacher would make the kids do it all over again. I wouldn't send my kids here again. read more

Principal Barbie Perez sat down with me and assured me she would not take part or take sides in my divorce court/child custody hearing. She not only lied, but--(as was revealed through evidence in court)--she communicated secretly through one sided notes and emails with my ex-wife-- who was attempting to work things in her favor by making up wildly false statements to Barbie in order to get her to show up in court to take her side in her slandering me. As a student at La Scuola, our son suffered from ongoing epileptic seizures and my son's mother (who was a self proclaimed "naturopath" opposed to conventional medicine) refused doctors' orders to give our six year old son medication to stop the seizures. She also refused to allow the pediatric emergency room doctor's order to get a CT scan to check for hemorrhaging of the brain. When my son was vomiting from his seizures, the ER doctor ordered medication to prevent asphyxiation from vomiting but my ex-wife wouldn't allow it. This is just a fraction of what medical neglect was inflicted on our child. And Barbie Perez broke her word and became involved in my private family issues by succumbing to my former wife's bizarre smear tactics when I went to court to get emergency sole medical authority over our son's health issues. The judge ruled in my favor in spite of Barbie Perez's attempt to help my ex wife continue to medically neglect our son. I am appalled and fearful such a person is the head of a school overseeing the wellbeing of small children. What was the basis of my ex wife's counter offensive to my emergency court filing? She tried defending herself by claiming I was somehow at fault for occasionally dropping off my son's lunchbox an hour or two after his arrival at school (lunch didn't start until noontime and occasionally I would bring his lunchbox around 10am.) I have the court transcript which contains the evidence and every word of the trial. In court, the judge criticized the secret, one sided communications between my former wife and Barbie Perez as an attempt to smear me and take sides in something that was not her place. My son's teacher at La Scuola told me when I picked up my son at the end of the day that she witnessed my son was having jerking movements of his body in the classroom and when she asked him if he was ok he indicated he was not even aware he was having an episode. The teacher apologized for not notifying me earlier in the day when the incident happened but explained when she went to Barbie asking for emergency contact phone numbers for me and my ex-wife, she said Barbie told her not to notify either my ex-wife or me that our son was having a medical episode. Barbie Perez should be removed from her position as overseer of schoolchildren. This is just one example of the incomprehensible neglect and abuse of power by the school's leadership at La Scuola. I absolutely love the learning experience in La Scuola. My son was in a 2 very good local public schools for Pre-k 3 and pre-k. He entered La Scuola for kindergarten. The individual attention his teachers give him, working in small groups, and love and sincere concern he receives at La Scuola is like nothing I've ever seen. Barbie and Dee are Amazing! I have two children enrolled in their 2nd year at La Scuola and they both love it there. The environment is very nurturing and family oriented. Everyone knows my children by name (or different ages and grade level), they know who comes for the children, they call me directly for any questions or concerns they may have about my children. This is invaluable to me! I get personalized care for my LO's while I'm at work. Additionally, they are learning so very much! Pre-K (in particular) is amazing, they learn to read, cook, add, garden, care for small animals, knit, make pottery etc. It truly is an invaluable learning experience for the children and the family oriented nature of the classrooms and the relationship among the classroom parents / children is also superb. I know that La Scuola isn't perfect, as perfection is impossible, but it I couldn't think of a better place for my children to spend their days away from Mom and Dad! Getting information from the administrators can be a bit difficult, but take the time to stop by or call while children are in class (not drop off or dismissal) and you'll be more successful in that regard. Also, Barbie is almost always on campus. She is there every morning to greet children as they enter the school and in the afternoons to send them off. Her demeanor has never been rude or off-putting. That goes for everyone in the school, actually. Again, no school will be perfect, but La Scuola offers a great deal of Pros to offset the few Cons that one may encounter. Cleanliness has never been an issue, the daily emails and photos are priceless, the loving child care, in addition to the fun-filled education that the children are receiving makes La Scuola the best decision we've made thus far. read more

Terrible, dirty, rude. Never put your kids at risk in this disgusting place. I went to this place one summer. The owner looks nice but really she is not. Her kids run the school they run around the school all do never go to class. Always fight and putting other kids in danger, but opening the locked door for strangers. No discipline, rules or respect. Lichen is a disgusting mess. The owner has her elderly parents work in the school for her. The mother works in the kitchen. Which was almost NEVER "clean". Her father I'm not sure what he does he just walks around and stair at the kids and parents. The have live animals (chickens) in the back of the school. Which I thought was kinda interesting, but these wild animal sometime attack the kids and poop everywhere. I 100% hate this place. I am always surprised by the lack of reviews for this school. I revisit constantly to check for updates since I was considering placing my child here. I did a tour and loved the way the school looked and the Quality Counts ratings along with DCF inspections but days after my tour I emailed the owner, Barbie, more than once asking additional questions and never received a reply. I told a friend to check it out and she said they werent very friendly or knowledgeable over the phone. I was then able to find a review online that stated staff was originally friendly but once you attended, Barbie and her staff were not so easy to get a hold of or speak to. This school is horrible I went to this school for 12 years and the elementary and middle school is awful. My teacher last year was verbally abusive and would yell at us every day and would say horrible things to us. My friend almost died there 3 years back from the cheap, old, used playground equipment that they still have and they didn't call emergency services. It's filthy and they always make the students clean before tours of the school. One kid even stepped on a rusty nail while out in the playground and no, they again did not call emergency services even though the nail was long and pierced through his foot. They had a crazy amount of mold to the point where you can see mold under the chairs and it was like that for about 2 years. The teacher this year singled me out and was also rude and awful to students to the point where I left. I was bullied in 4th grade and they always refused to do anything about it. The owner is completely money driven and manipulative. All the teachers that I've had for the last 4 years have been awful. I wouldn't recommend this school to my worst enemy l. OMG! I had the exact same experience last year as one reviewer wrote!! I LOVED the school and the concept...But I made at least 10 attempts at trying to reach them for follow up questions. I left several voice messages and emails and up to this day I have not received a response! I Twice I actually got someone on the phone but Barbie was not available and the lady who answered said to write an email...I told her I already did and sent another one...still nothing. I said to myself if I am not even enrolled and they won't communicate with me like we are important what would happen if we do enroll?? I decided to enroll my child in Christ Fellowship instead and I am VERY pleased!! read more

The curriculum and content the children are taught is wonderful and very hands on! The staff is great and always on top of the children. I've been a Teacher at La Scuola for over 6 years and my son has attended the school for 5 years now. My son has learned so much and has grown in all areas of development. This is an absolutely amazing school. I've never worked at a school where the learning is so rich and powerful. The children are so well respected as individuals not just children. I am in love with this school. It is so hands on and creative. My son has been there since he was 18 months and it's been an amazing experience. He has learned things in ways that no other school would be able to teach it. Not only do they learn but they have a hands on experience that for young kids it is truly unforgettable. The teachers put so much love into what they do and the kids feed off of that. My son has learned things from life cycles of animals to human body and its functions. He has learned about the importance of taking care of the planet and he has a cooking experience every Friday that ties into that weeks lessons. He is only 4 years old and everyday he amazes me with the knowledge he gets at school. As an added bonus the teachers personally send an email with a journal of the day including pictures so that I don't miss out on anything special my son does throughout the day. I have been a parent at La Scuola, for the past year. My daughter's love for the school and excitement about her learning journey is a true testament as to how great this school is. She entered La Scuola after attending both public and private schools; which we found was not the right fit. This led us to thoroughly research all of Miami to find the right setting for her. Our goal was to find a school that would support our child's learning with a balance of both academic and creativity; teaching our whole child. We were in search of a place that would teach her lifelong skills, gain back her confidence, and love for learning again as she was broken the previous years with her prior schooling experience. We knew that perfection did not exist, and stayed away from just basing our decision of visiting centers on the reviews of the media. We wanted to see what this school offered to our child with the primary focus on how the children seemed in the environment, their work, and the culture of the program in its entirety. As we conducted our tour, we saw exactly what we sought, children completely involved in the learning process, documentation on the walls with evidence that learning happens daily with hands-on experiences, and a passion beyond words. I can not say enough wonderful things about this school and it's program. I am a teacher with DCPS and have worked with children in various settings for over 20 years. My children were at another highly reputable preschool for 5 years and I pulled them out due to the mistreatment of children. I was incredibly cautious when selecting this school. This school has met all of my high expectations of what a school should have. The staff is kind and caring. The children are given opportunities to explore and create in a safe, nurturing environment. My elementary aged child has learned more than I could have ever expected in the school system. She is reading a year above grade level and is able to do math several years above grade level. Not only are the academics taught through hands on experiences, the children are also taught how to work together through collaboration and team work. The children are encouraged to reach their highest potential without the same pressures from the school system. My younger child is in the preschool setting and loves learning. Her vocabulary tripled once starting here. Both children cried when the year ended. I think that says a lot. read more
