By far our favorite dinner in Positano and much better than Michelin-starred neighbor Zass, La Sponda stuns with its view, romantic candlelit ambiance, incredible food, live music that performs table to table, and trendy crowd. We sat right in front of Miles and Keleigh Teller at dinner. The crab appetizer and rooster ravioli were the highlights of our meal. The lamb entree was also excellent. I would skip the tart tartine and instead go have a night cap at the Don't Worry speakeasy bar next door that has a live DJ set with vinyl records. This is a michelin star restaurant. The minimum to spend is $150. Ive never ate anything so disgusting in my life. The whole meal was bad. I had this prawn appetizer which was cold and the prawn was barely cooked. Yikes. I still ate it trusting the chef. The sauce it was in tasted like baby food. Then i had the seafood rissoto. It tasted undercooked to me. Not al dente. The fish was barely seasoned. Then i had the veal. It wasn't impressive either. All food was recommended from my waiter. With that said, my drink was good. The hype for La Sponda is very high. Every instagram reel, post, blog says to go here. And I'm happy to report, IT REALLY IS AMAZING. I couldn't find a table for weeks and then while we were already in Positano, we saw something open at 10pm the following day. Even when we got there, it still have a very cool vibe with the lights dimmed, and tons of style. We didn't see a view but honestly it didn't even matter. The service at the beginning of the meal was a bit off but it really picked up and made us feel like we were royalty. The food itself and drinks were all so delicious and some of the best bites we had in Italy. Pastas cooked perfectly, veggies with so much flavor and desserts that were awesome. This place is super difficult to get a reservation. After hearing that this was the best in Positiano, we tried to get a dinner spot. We were able to grab dinner. This restaurant got the best views. Service was okay - often times we had different wait staff. The food was often a miss. Many of them were fine, but lacked the wow factor that you would expect from a restaurant of this caliber. There was also a min spend per person (approximately 160 per person). It's not too difficult to hit the spend limit as I was doing a tasting menu but I felt disappointed after spending nearly $600 on mediocre food. Save your money and dine elsewhere. In addition, there are a lot of parties (birthday, anniversary, wedding proposal, big celebration) that takes place at the restaurant. It was hard to find any quiet time/take in the space as there was a lot of distractions. However, you may be into this type of ambiance. read more

Shocked that la sponda received 1 Michelin star. This is the worst Michelin restaurant I've ever dined at. The ambience: 5 stars. The decor and view were beautiful. There were also two musicians who went around to each table, singing and playing guitar. This was the most redeeming factor. The service: 2 stars. We started dinner at the Don't Worry Bar. We were told to leave our drinks, as our waiter would bring them to the table. However, our drinks never arrived. We had to re-order them and were charged twice. Several times our water cups were empty. We ordered sparkling water and received still water. It felt as though we were at an under-staffed restaurant. The food: 3 stars. Even if the food was half price, I still would not come back. Everything came out cold. We saw our food sitting ready for five minutes before it was brought over. We ordered the spaghetti and the ravioli. We also ordered the veal and red snapper. Nothing amazed me. The taste was plain. The food was not even plated beautifully. Our homemade spaghetti is better We didn't order dessert but did receive complimentary sweet bites. One out of three of them was great. I took one bite of the chocolate and couldn't finish it. It tasted like I had bitten into a Johnny walker. Next to us, I could hear another couple with the same remarks as us. Maybe this place was something years ago but it is living on its past history. Arrived from the port via a private boat and walked up the steep hill. Navigation apps are difficult because they can't direct effectively in areas of steep hills. Not the restaurants fault. Arrived sweaty. No sign to direct you at reception. Asked the front desk clerk and felt he had a bit of an attitude. Do you have a reservation? What time? etc. There are more than one restaurant in the hotel on different levels. Once you know where to go it isn't a problem. Welcomed warmly and cooled down for the meal. Meal was ok, but terribly overpriced and a bit of a tourist trap. Drinks are $30 and meals are expensive without the exceptionally quality or a Michelin star to back them up. We were staying in a very high end hotel nearby and the owner said the hotel had moved more towards a volume sales policy rather than remaining small and more unique. Felt like there were too many people and not enough staff to support the high prices. There are other places with much better value. I also hate places where music performers move around from table to table to entertain you. We are there to speak with each other not listen to unsolicited entertainment at our table. Off to the side as background music is fine. Don't find paying high prices for quality but I would say don't expect value for your money. Positano is overrun with tourist so they can probably support their business but for the smart traveler I'd look elsewhere. Not a bad experience but nothing special. The food was ok, my wife ordered some oysters and these were definitely fresh and could not be any better. We ordered the risotto and had the waiter split it for us since we didn't want to order and appetizers instead ordered a main and shared it, well they charge you an additional 20% just to split the dish, just be aware of this, risotto was undercooked and was really soupy, when asked they didn't really say why. So still ended up paying for it. The beef tortellini with black truffle was decent, nothing to write home about, my partner ordered a white truffle dish and she said this was spectacular. We had the chocolate souffle and that was ok as well, nothing amazing, Gary danko would have put their soufflé to shame. We did get some complimentary taster and a lemon base alcohol drink. Service was great, always had a wait staff come by taking used plates and repouring water etc etc. Ambiance was amazing, after all you are in Positano... if they fail on that then you know the place flops! Probably the worst meal of our trip. Service was pretty good overall, could have potentially been better considering what we were paying. There was a lot of wait time between courses and the server had to check back in to remember what we ordered. In terms of food, everything was really bland and the pasta was undercooked. Al dente is one thing, hard pasta is another. The desserts were inedible and tasted like dish water. Everything lacked flavor and was severely underwhelming. The view was the redeeming quality and only reason we were not more upset. I recommend going to Aldo (their bar) getting a similar view and paying so much less. read more

Wow. The views are breathtaking and spectacular. We stopped in for cocktails which were a pricey $30 each. Ouch. We looked at getting appetizers or potentially grabbing dinner but the menu was small and nothing really stood out to us. Service was prompt and attentive. I was expecting the drinks to be mind blowing but they were just average. The presentation of the cocktails was beautiful and oddly the accompanying snacks made me drop my panties. The snacks were the greenest and nuttiest olives, truffle salted potato chips and roasted almonds that tasted like pretzels. The outdoor seating area has the best views of Positano and we happened to be there while the sun was setting. The other seating area is a bit more lively with music and a complete raw bar setup. My preference was the quieter side where you could just enjoy the views with soft conversations in the background. Grand total was $67.53 and worth every bit of our panoramic views for 2 hours. read more

If you like sea food then you may like this place. There is minimal things without sea food inside of it or on top of it. The portions are small as the ravioli is 45$ and you get a whole six of them. The service is slow, as we sat down for 30 min before the waiter came to get our food order. There was a drink waiter treated us less nicely once we told him we did not want wine for the night. Once we ordered finally bread came and some appetizers after we were there for 40 min. We had the ravioli and the whole chicken which were both tasty but small portions. We ate a pre dinner before as well, as our reservation was not until later. Only didn't cancel as there was a 100$ cancellation fee. The ambiance is neat and the tables are not on top of each other which is nice. They had musicians walking around and playing for each table. On a recent trip to Positano, we were very eager to eat at La Sponda. We read it was a Michelin star with a beautiful view. Unfortunately it was a bit of a disappointment. The food and wine were just ok. We went their for lunch, so maybe dinner would have been different but we felt it was overpriced for what it was. And although we did have a nice view of the water, they sat us at a table where the view of Positano was obstructed. If you decide to give it a try, I would recommend dinner. Excellent start to finish. This was one of those places I stalked for months so we could be sure to get a reservation. It was worth all the effort, and then some. The welcome was so kind, the service impeccable and the food glorious. We were never hurried along, everyone was personable and wanted to make sure we had the best time. Inside the dreamy former summer house of four Neapolitan brothers turned 58 room luxury resort is Le Sirenuse. If you've seen photos of Positano there's a good chance you've seen photos taken here. While not offering the Michelin menu, I suggest going for a late lunch for more attention and table with the best view. Besides it's the same service and quality just different menu. Arrive early to capture amazing photos of the property to encourage your friends to add Positano to their bucket list, if they haven't already. We just spent three lovely nights here. It is so worth every cent. It is an experience I will never forget. Our room was gorgeous. I've been fortunate enough to stay at a lot of hotels all over the world and this may be the top of the top. It's not just the beauty of the view, the staff and I mean every single person we encountered on this property is truly five star level!! We spent a lot of our time enjoying this place and already we are trying to figure when we can return. I actually teared up leaving because I so wanted to extend our trip here. Positano takes hold of you and I didn't want to leave. The pool, the champagne bar, La Sponda... exquisite!! They also have several daily activities that are no extra charge included. First off, this is truly one of the luxury hotels in the world, befitting for a place as gorgeous as Positano. That all comes with a price and a very expensive one indeed. I would recommend this place to anyone just for the amazing views of the Almafi Coast! We stopped here for lunch and sat outside where we were able to enjoy the beautiful coast. The service is the absolute best, especially for traveling in another country. The waiter and busboys made sure we constantly had water and wine in our glasses and were so accommodating and friendly. The food is pricey (around high 20s-30s) and comes in smaller portions than what we're used to in the good ole' US of A, but very delicious! We ordered the ravioli, seafood risotto, and spaghetti with clams. All were good but very small portions like I said. The only one that was a pretty decent size was my seafood risotto, and it was also the best one! The risotto was very rich and came with bits of mussels, clams, lobster, and shrimp. Now back to the views, you'll get the best pics for your Instagram (what we REALLY care about :P) from the restaurant itself, but there are also other areas of the hotel where you can venture to and snap some good ones as well! Overall, the food here was good, but far from great. We've had far better during our Italy trip at non-Michelin starred restaurants. However, what really stood out about our experience was how bad the service was. The service was pretty terrible, and certainly not deserving of the restaurant's Michelin star. The waiters were way too harried. With the exception of one gentleman, none of the staff looked even remotely in our general direction as they spoke too us - as if they couldn't be bothered. We waited for nearly an hour for our first course to arrive. During that time, we had to ask numerous times for water, bread, the drink menu, and even the amuse bouche that we saw being served to other tables around us. We ordered the chef's tasting menu: 1) The amuse bouche was a fried cod croquette on a tomato velloutte. This was delicious. Fresh and good flavors. Only complaint is the velloutte was served too chilled, and clashed with the heat of the croquette 2) Braised octopus. This dish was not good. The octopus had a salty, not-so-fresh taste, and the tomato and potato sauce was way over salted 3) Linguine with mussels, clams, and razor clams. This dish was just average. A couple of my shellfish weren't entirely cleaned, and my teeth crunched down hard on some sand. Overall, I've had better, many times. 4) John Dory. Solid fish main course. Well cooked and nicely sauced. However, this dish was also rather forgettable. Not what you'd expect from a Michelin restaurant 5) Orange panna cotta with orange sorbet. Delicious and refreshing. 6) Merangue with citrus and grapefruit sorbet. A bit too sweet. My wife and I preferred #5 read more

Def worthy of their michelen star rating expect to pay approx $300 euro and up for two people. The place is located in a really beautiful hotel which goes for an incredibly high price per night, it's fitted with marble all round and makes you feel like your in a palace.
