Really good food with great and fast service. The inside is small but welcoming with a convenience store next door. The Adobado was a tad bland but otherwise everything was seasoned very well including the salsa for the tortillas.

Love this spot! clean place, quick, and delicious food. Free chips and salsa as well when we dined in.

This restaurant is small cute and run by a few people... everything is freshly made to order. There is only a few parking spots shared with a mini market next door but they are popular for take out and are on Uber eats. Service was good and fast... I ordered the quesadilla birria which was amazing I would order this every time. The chilaquiles were also very tasty with a good amount of heat, I ordered the green salsa and chicken on top if I had to change something it would be the way the chicken was prepared shredded would be more enjoyable to eat. At the table sopes were ordered, I was not a fan of these they lacked flavor. The kids chicken tender and fries were pretty basic out of freezer. The guacamole was a favorite at the table. I would return to try the tacos or to re order the quesadilla birria.

Love this place. Outstanding tacos, our favorites being chorizo and birria. The dip with the birria is luscious and perfect when you're craving to dip meat and cheese in more meat. Friendly service.

I had a great first visit here a few days ago. I was hungry when I ordered and selected chicken tacos, empanadas and the pork and cheese pupusas. There's a small lot in front but you may have to find alternative parking if they are busy, as they were this weekend afternoon. The inside seating is current and eat in would be a good option, weather allowing the outside area is a better choice though. There are some desserts that looked interesting in the case that might be explored on further visits. Even with several people in front of me placing orders, I only had about a 5 minute wait before I was handed my to go bag. The young man working the counter alone should be commended for being so prompt, he was even answering phone in orders as he handed back change. When I unpacked my haul I was very happy indeed. The empanada came already dressed with lettuce cheese and crema. The last several places I've been just give you plain empanadas. Since it was served this way I didn't want to save for another meal. I added my own tomato and loved every bite. These are corn based shells filled with chunks of pulled chicken smothered in a red paste. Not spicy at all, just a smoky pepper taste. My favorite of all recent specimens. I reheated the tacos for dinner, they were all overflowing with chunks of grilled chicken and just cilantro and onion. The green sauce is very good with a little kick, the brown sauce was another smoky pepper flavored thing, very good. The pups came the next day and stood up well. Thinner than El Salvador type examples, but tasty and crisp. I dressed this up with a pico de Gallo and Cotija cheese. Plus the curtido and red pepper sauce provided, I was very happy with this houses version. Even though this is slightly out of my way I'll likely be back soon to try the beef or chicken stews( guisado) and or a few other authentic Mexican platters. 4.5 empanada of the year Yelps

I was craving tacos and plantains and I discovered this place while browsing through yelp. I'm so happy that I did because this place is amazing. I got the tripe tacos, grilled steak, side of plantains, chorizo tacos, and asada nacho that has beef, lettuce, cheese, chip, and beans. The steak was very dry and I wasn't a big fan of it. I did enjoy the rice and beans that came with the steak. The rest of the food was delicious. I enjoyed the plantains a lot, the tacos were spectacular, and the nacho was cheesy and filled with flavor. I would come back to this place again. The place does get quite busy so I recommend calling ahead of time for the order. I would like to try the other tacos on the menu.

I knew about it, and I even knew where…read moreit was supposed to be located, but I'd driven by it a thousand times without going in...largely due to the very small sign located over the location. I didn't actually realize it was where I wanted to go until I was parking in front of it. As mentioned in other reviews, the dining space inside is small and very basic--which is fine. The portion of the store selling Mexican food staples is in the front as you enter, and the handful of dine-in tables are located at the back of the store between the store's aisles and the kitchen counter. What finally got me there to visit was that it was open for breakfast, and while a lot of places say they're open for breakfast, opening up at 9AM twice a week doesn't qualify. El Sabor Oaxaqueño 2 is open for breakfast most days at 6AM, because they serve people who are working their butts off and who need a good meal. The breakfasts at El Oaxaqueño 2 serve that need. My Chilaquiles Verde were spicy, but not super spicy, and it was served with rice and black beans. My carne asada was an addition as were my fried eggs. You can also get chicken breast (pechuga) or a red sauce if that's more your style. My wife's Huevos con Chorizo were very flavorful and very filling. They were also served with rice and black beans, along freshly made tortillas and a stick of cheese to crumble over your meal. She was only able to finish off half her plate, and we took home the rest. Our next visit was for dinner, and because I couldn't decide on what I wanted, we split three plates between us. First up was my Tacos de Tripa. I asked for the tripa (pork chitterlings, not tripe) to be well cooked so that it was crunchy, and they served them up just as I like them. They were topped with chopped onion and garlic, and once topped with the spicy green fresh salsa, we gobbled them down. The tortillas were freshly made and had a nice texture. The next dish was the chicken enchiladas en mole. Four enchiladas were well stuffed with white chicken meat then bathed in flavorful mole and served with rice and beans. Thankfully, it wasn't topped with a ridiculously huge glob of melted cheese. Last was the Quesadilla--not your Mama's quesadilla either. It was huge, and it wasn't as cheesy as the quesadillas the average person knows. Inside it was stuffed almost like a taco with big pieces of shrimp in one half and carne asada in the other. There was cheese, but cheese was not the star as it is in the average quesadilla we're all used to. It was good, and we both enjoyed it--it was just a surprise. The place is far from fancy, but they serve real food, and it's real good.

We did have to talk to a more experienced person at the counter, but they were able to explain that They put down aluminum foil on the grill so that our corn tortillas don't get crossed contaminated by the flour tortillas. And the meat is made only on a grill with meat so you don't have to worry about cross-contamination there. I'd known about them for years, but they were kind of out of the way for me. The place is small and unassuming, which gave me high expectations, as sometimes I find myself having lower expectations for a more "Mexican" decorated place (I'm wrong as often as I'm right). As far as the Fish Tacos went, they do not serve the Baja style fried fish tacos that I'd grown up on out west, so it was a downer when the plater arrived and I saw the tacos filled with chopped fish cooked in broth. That said, at least the taco was well filled and the fish had a very good flavor. The broth turned out to be a major issue, as the (very tasty) single layer tortillas were soaking up the broth while I ate the first taco, and the second and third tacos both split at the seams and fell apart after one or two bites. A second tortilla may have prevented this debacle, but I won't order fish tacos here again. I'd have loved a fish soup made in this style. The next visit I tried Tacos de Tripa (fried pork intestines), which is my current go to taco style. They were very good, and I enjoyed the heck out of them. They were nice and crispy as I'd requested, and the excellent tasting tortilla made them an excellent choice. My wife had a cheese tamal that had ribbons of poblanos inside as well, and it was also very good with the poblanos providing a nice balance to the heaviness of the cheese. I'd get both again in a heartbeat. My third visit was at lunchtime, and I opted for a Torta de Chili Relleno--essentially a chili relleno sandwich. It wasn't the first I've ever had, and it's a fave torta when I see them on the menu--which isn't often. The torta arrived with a nice sized chili relleno along with the usual smear of beans, lettuce, tomatoes, avocado, and a couple pieces of queso fresco served on a lightly toasted roll. Overall, the torta was very good tasting, and it went down nicely. However, I wish they used a little firmer roll instead of the soft one they did use. The torta was big and warm, and a crustier roll would have been better. The soft one used was near to collapsing under the weight of the ingredients. Fries are an option on the many torta options for a couple dollars extra. In retrospect, I'd have liked to have added a layer of fries to the sandwich for a little extra kick. All in all, El Gallo Tropical is a place I'll continue to go to. The staff is very friendly, and the menu is extensive (too big?). Although I had them initially at three stars after my first visit for fish tacos, the second (4+) and third (4-) visits have raised them up, and I'm rounding up to a four.

True, it is tiny (2 tables inside and 2 more out front), and it is a dive (in the best sense of the word), but the skilled hands in la cocina tell a different tale. When I parked on the street in front and walked in, a telenovela was playing on the HDTV high on the wall, and several people were working behind the counter. I approached to check their trifold menu and engaged the man who appeared to be the owner or manager. He was fluently bilingual making it easy to explain what was available and then how I wanted my Torta Milanesa de Pollo prepared. I took a chair at one of the tables, and moments later my lunch was placed before me. It was an enormous sandwich on an oversized oblong roll, dressed in heavy foil at its waist and showing its internals at its edges. Just take a look at the photos. It was an amazing piece of working peoples culinary art. I maneuvered my jaws for a first bite and attempted to compress the width of this monster to fit more in my mouth. I clamped down full force and cut through its many layers. The flavor of the breaded cutlet, spicy mayo, avocado, tomato, onion, queso and lettuce burst out and had a fiesta in my mouth complete with pinata. It was just an excellent sandwich. Eating half would have been enough for a satisfying meal, but I indulged and ate the whole thing right there. Totopos has been in business for about three years.
