On the hunt for the best taco in Tulum and this place was tied with Pepe's ("best taco in Tulum") next door on Google.
After waiting for 15 minutes I finally asked for a menu. Waited another 15 for my drink, then another 30 for my four tacos. Not a busy night, but the expeditor and kitchen are clearly all over the place.
The setting is however, absolutely beautiful. Candlelit tables with atmospheric music, plants everywhere, all outdoor. Very romantic.
I snapped the pastor, chicken, fish (grilled, recommended by the waiter, and the octopus.
The best one was the pastor, it has a very Mongolian beef flavor profile, not so authentic. This has never happened to me before and I'm sad to say, I had to spit out the grilled fish. Tasted foul and almost had a bleach-y after taste. Octopus is clearly frozen and over cooked, too chewy. Chicken is super dry, begs for toppings.
Overall, very disappointed with the food quality and service given the hype on google. Pepe's next door is phenomenal and certainly takes the -taco-. read more
