After settling in I decided to take a leisurely walk from my hotel to see all the neighborhood eats... many choices from local street vendors to can I say pizzerias & an Asian dumplings spot?!!?? Plenty of options I really wanted tacos (when in Rome) but then I came across this place wit outdoor dining and a huge open flame grill/kitchen the juicy aroma of meat caught my attention so I decided to checkout their house special... best 23BUX I ever spent on a full meal!! It came with torta chips & variety of sauces, my steak came out perfect "medi-red" with a bunch sides like guacamole & plantains I was stuffed.... My server was exceptionally he spoke perfect English even asked for my name & coincidentally his was Ricardo -20% TIP!!
Came here for my last night of vacation and couldn't have made a better choice. Everything I ate was incredible, the staff was very welcoming and friendly and the restaurant was absolutely beautiful. My server was Angel, he was so great and put in a lot of effort to make sure I had a good experience. My Spanish is not good at all but he was very understanding and helped me with the menu with no judgement. I appreciate him so much and everyone else on the staff that made my experience so great.
We loved this place during our trip that we went back a second time. Our first visit there was definitely 5 stars. Our outdoor seating experience was lovely! Great service, delicious drinks and unlimited chips with an array of sauces. However our sit down indoor experience was drastically different with service. We had a bigger group and came around dinner. It took nearly 15 mins for someone to approach us to even order drinks and the time lapse between the ordering kept getting longer. We needed to keep waving the waiter down or even get up to get their attention since we are placed in the back corner of the restaurant. We were disappointed with the indoor service we received but would still absolutely recommend this place for the quality of food and ambiance.
Amazing! If you're in Tulum, this is a must-visit. The food is tender and fresh, and the service is incredibly friendly. The ambiance is peacefully quiet, enhanced by a live band playing outside. Highly recommend!
El lugar está muy bonito y un ambiente agradable, te puedes sentar afuera por la banqueta o adentro. La carne está cocida a la perfección y las porciones son abundantes. El servicio es excelente
.I have been literally to almost every highly recommended restaurant here and I can say that El Asador is probably the best value for a higher-end restaurant in Tulum. If you in the mood for a nice steak this is your place. They serve larger cuts like cowboy and tomahawk as well as your standard collection of cuts like ribeye and NY strip. I had the ribeye and it was perfectly charred and decently cooked. Not a irrefutable medium-rare, but close. The flavour and seasoning were spit on. My wife had the flank steak platter which was also excellent. The staff were excellent. They were highly attentive and efficient. They are all clearly well trained and took it seriously. Overall, I recommend El Asador as a go to spot for a nice steak dinner when you're in Tulum.
Great food and great price! We were looking for a fish dish and they master it. Even they don't have drinks for the hurricane alert we got great service! Check out this place if you are in Tulum.
I came here with a group of 16. I got a steak fajita that was just okay. The rating would be higher if I absolutely loved that dish but I didn't. The bone marrow dish was tasty. The cheese and shrimp and steak that was in the bowl was delicious I recommend. I had some of my friends dishes and the flank steak and cowboy steak was delicious. Indoor setting was beautiful. Staff was friendly and thoughtful. We came celebrating 4 people for their birthday and the staff surprised us with the cheesecake. It was good.

What a great restaurant, the food was absolutely delicious. Service was excellent. A must when in Tulum for grilled steaks and Mexican favorites!! Will go back.

I attended this restaurant with a large party of 20 people on a Sunday night in Tulum, Mexico. Reece and Martin were awesome and accommodated our party and navigated the language barrier. They answered all of our questions and getting our drinks and food was done in a reasonable amount of time. The restaurant is kinda small but the inside is warm and has dim lighting. Their menu had variety and they seem to specialize in steaks. From flank steak, to Cowboy ribeyes and Tomahawks , the menu doesn't lack variety in cuts of meat. I ordered the Arrachera special. I read reviews on Yelp and google, that this is their specialty. I enjoy flank stank so I was game to try this. I was disappointed in the sides and feel like the dish was missing something overall but the food had flavor. The margaritas were amazing and made well! I had to get two! Prices are very reasonable.

This place is amazing!! We had the best food - everything was cooked to perfection! We had the New York steak, the lamb rack, and the stuffed potato with chorizo. The micheladas were the best ones I've ever tried (and I've tried a lot, haha). The restaurant has a very fancy feel, even though the food/drinks were reasonably priced. The ambiance was beautiful - gorgeous paintings of jaguars everywhere and dim lighting to set the mood. The service was outstanding. Our waiters, Guillermo & Martín, made sure we were taken care of throughout the whole night. They even brought my friends and me a mini coat rack to hang our purses next to our table. read more
Can you say yum!? We originally had dinner reservations for another restaurant but those plans unfortunately fell through, and we were lucky enough to stumble upon this place. The food here is phenomenal. Everything was delicious. The chips, the drinks, the entrees all just delicious! We started with fresh chips and salsa, for the salsa you get about 5-6 different salsa options. The pica- de callio and the green sauce are to die for, really incredible. For my entree I ordered the lamb lollipops and omg they were heavenly. I wish they lasted forever. It came with this delicious gravy on top and a side salad. The lamb was nice and tender, my mouth is watering just thinking about them yum! Great service, great food, great atmosphere. If you're in the area it would be a mistake NOT to come here. 10/10. read more

Amazing steakhouse! At first entrance everyone welcomed us and was super friendly. My group got a lot of food but what stood out to everyone the most was the cowboy steak! It comes out in a searing hot plate and it's so bomb! There was live music and people dancing outside. It was really cute. Highly recommend to those who are thinking about visiting! Delicious steakhouse with a great value and pricing for the area!! My favorite meal during my week in Tulum. Journeyed from the beach hotel area into the city to find this place based on reviews and it was well worth it!!! I loved each of the 5 salsas provided with chips, especially the middle orange/brown and the oil, wish I knew what they were called. I had the T-bone and it was cooked to satisfaction. This place has a really long wait so come early or make reservations. The food looked really yummy on Yelp so I wanted to try it. The service was horrible but the restaurant looked cute. We literally had to walk to to the waiters like 5x for things. The salsas were amazing but the food was ok, we ordered the molcajete bowl. I'm sure it would've been a lot better it it was hot but it we cold. read more

The restaurant itself is very nice and sanitary. As seems to be customary in Tulum, your temperature is checked at door and you are asked to wash your hands before entering The service is not impressive. The waiters know what the menu reads but they can not tell you of what your ordering is popular or tasty. They cannot provide experience on the food or recommend anything outside of what they are told is the house specialty. The restaurant owner es would do well to allow servers the experience of the food in order to better serve the customers...purely an opinion here but I'm betting it's a good one. Presentation of food is good and salsas tastes. Steaks not great at all. They seem to be steamed and then finished on a grill. I'd not recommend this restaurant to friends. read more
WE ATE LIKE KINGS AND QUEENS. This platter was meant for 4 but my boyfriend and I got it just for ourselves. Everything was absolutely perfect. Everything cooked perfect, ambience was perfect. We had serious case of itis afterwards but no regrets. So freaking good. read more

Had really high hopes for this place, it smelled really good walking in. Got their special, and it was a little raw, but lacking in flavor overall. The sausages were very good, and so was the cheese dip. The drinks were very good. For a steak place, there meat was a little underwhelming. read more

I know technology is the way of the future , however this night proves otherwise. Due to "COVID" the menus here are downloaded via phones or tablets. However it only works if the wifi or internet of the business is working . So needless to say we had some difficulties ordering . After several attempts or maybe the look of frustration on our faces the staff brought a menu for us to look over . Once that crisis was averted we enjoyed our meals . Wine list was minimal but good enough to enjoy . Nice big open kitchen were you can see your meals being prepared. Live music started as we were wrapping up our meals. We heard one or two songs and then the singer was walking around asking for money as we had our last bites!! (Awkward) and a small local child of maybe 4 or 5 came in and sat at every table and tried to get everyone to buy a bracelet. We felt bad but we're also surprised that a nice place would allow this to happen. All in all it was an interesting night and good story to tell read more
Visited this restaurant with a last minute reservation. Even though we were running late, close to closing, they had no problem accommodating us. They served tortilla chips with about 5 different salsas which were all great! I ordered the special which came with a few different sides. All of the food we received was delicious and seasoned well. Portion sizes were generous. The service was prompt. read more

The food here was fantastic. Be prepared for some large servings. We ordered an appetizer and even though it was delicious, we immediately regretted it once we saw our main plates. We had a night planned with dinner, dancing, drinks but instead we stuffed ourselves and had some drinks there because it was that good. Going dancing at that point was out of the question but it was totally worth it. The other thing I really liked about it was that the prices were not extravagant. It was a great dining experience and we would happily go again if we are ever back in Tulum. read more

Such a beautiful space! Staff was super nice and they had extra COVID precautions (hand washing and temp check). Food was great, got 4 tacos vegetarian and the skirt steak. They bring chips and a variety of salsa, guac, and crema for toppings. The horchata was heavenly, nice and sweet. Don't order the margarita... too sour. Got 4 tacos, 1 horchata, 1 margarita, 1 corona for $23 USD. I would recommend you eat here! Large menu especially if you want meats! read more

We had a great meal with good cocktails and dishes like the Molcajete Asadero. You get a generous portion of proteins: chicken, steak, shrimp, octopus, and more, for a pretty inexpensive price. We had mezcalitas and margaritas that were good, although it's so warm outside that the ice started to melt pretty quickly. They try to keep the place cool with lots of fans and it definitely helps. But definitely dress for warm weather. They take credit card which was convenient. read more
