This place gets no respect on Google or Trip Advisor, but it's my favorite place in Madrid. I was here three years ago and ate there many times. Again, on this trip, I sought them out. It's a nicely decorate place and as far as Madrid goes, without good local inputs, and given the price for my food, I get my money's worth here. Simple, homemade and good food.
The trick is to order drinks and just let the free tapas come. My husband and I have spent hours drinking and getting free tapas here. Free tapas doesn't really come by often in Madrid because they treat tourists differently. The fried sardines are some of the most simple and best ones that we've had here. We've also had the free tortilla which is quite good. Other free tapas include little fried squid and olivia (russsian salad that is almost as good as my mother in laws). The two waitresses were really nice (after I told them that I was there 3 years ago and couldn't wait to come back). The have a limited wine selection but well curated, and it's above average, so I have no complaints. We spent less than 20 euros for 8 drinks and free tapas, you can't beat that! read more
