It has always been a dream of mine to see this iconic tower. It is beautiful and a very popular attraction. I actually got the tickets on line through the Tower website as soon as they were available, which is about 2 months out. This insures that you can get a time and a date that works for you. There is no need to go through a tour company unless you really want to do so. The line to go to the top is way shorter if you already have your ticket. You will be given a time and we did not wait very long with our tickets. Views from the top are breathtaking. If possible, take the stairs during some part of your visit. You can see the intricate workings of the underside of the tower and so much more this way. Also if possible, try to catch a glimpse of it at night. It is even more beautiful then! read more

We made reservations to go to the summit via elevator on a warm August evening. The lines, while long, were even longer after when I left so I guess we did save some time already. Since the tower gets narrower, you can only imagine that the elevators also get smaller. There's a weight limit and they try to meet that requirement. It's a pretty quick ride to the second floor, and you go back out to another line, scan your passes again and another one takes you to the top. Expect lots of crowds, cool souvenirs, and a memory to last a lifetime. read more

Fine Yelp, be snooty. Make me review this engineering marvel, which in reality was built for the World's Fair in 1889. A global icon, this structure is more beautiful in person than any form of media conveys. There are many replicas; this is the original. You can see it from almost everywhere in Paris, and is truly a symbol throughout the world of what France was and hopes to aspire to be someday. Nicknamed "The Iron Lady", it stands over 1000 feet tall with a restaurant overlooking it all. I wanted to go inside, unfortunately I could not do it. Every five minutes after the hour after sunset, the tower "sparkles", another marvel I missed. I did get to see the tower illuminate though, a nice consolation prize for what I hoped to see. The Eiffel Tower is one of the most iconic structures in the world. It's a must do going to Paris. Knowing this you have to expect the crowds. If you haven't gotten a ticket there are ticket booths on both sides of the square (don't just go to the first one with a long line, look for the other). You can eat at the restaurant but make reservations or you won't get on. There is a cute gift shop on the first landing going up if you're looking for souvenirs. There is a place to buy drinks at the top so you can have a toast looking out at the views. Pretty pleasant but it does get hot and crowded so make sure to have some water (and patience) with you. read more

Amazing experience. We used the stairs it tools ~20 minutes to get to the 2nd floor and 12 to come down. Very organized now. It is now enclosed by a glass wall and you have to go through security. Such a great day! We used a tour guide from Paris Lounge which took about an hour and then we went off on our own. Tour guide was great and worth it in my opinion. Get off at the first floor for the restaurants and the "Vertigo of the Tower" which was so fun! Kids loved it as well. You have to sign up for a time using the QR code, if it says there are no more spots available or just need to wait for it to reset. It is free to do and a cool experience. read more

What a landmark! It's the most visited monument with an admission fee in the entire world, and deservedly so. We didn't make the trip up, but we saw it everyday we were in Paris, and you really couldn't help it as it is such a dominating and attractive sight. Even in 2025. Amazing experience. I would recommend buying the tickets with the lift, made the ascend much easier and less time consuming. I would also recommend bringing a jacket during early spring admission if you go all the way to the top. It's very windy up there and it was cold! It's impressive but lordy what a zoo. Good luck getting tickets. You have to book weeks in advance and even then it's a crap shoot and super expensive. Even with tickets security lines are super long and hawkers, scammers, and pickpockets are rampant. The park itself is quite nice and you don't have to get very close to get a great view of the tower. I personally think the lines are less long and the view is just as good from the Arc de Triomphe, and they don't hustle you down from the top right away either. To each their own, I guess, but this is one place that is way over hyped IMHO. read more

one of the world's most recognizable structure. Yes, i've seen countless pictures and movies but nothing compared to actually seeing it in person for the first time. When we saw the tower in all its glory, it was at night time, and it was stunning. Our hotel was nearby the Trocadéro Gardens, and we walked over at night to get a glimpse of the tower across the seine river. i can't really describe it, but something about the tower at night time with all the lights, i was awestruck. the next morning, we hired a photographer to take photos in front of the tower (again, by the trocadero garden side) and they turned out really nicely. Honestly, if you're coming to paris for the first time. I would bet my life's saving that this is one of the top attractions you're here for. Unfortunately, our europe trip was kinda short so i didn't get a chance to walk closer on my other days to gaze up from really close. next time i'm in paris, i'll do that... and maybe take the elevator ride up. read more

It really takes a while to take in the spectacle of this massive steel lady that towers in Paris. The weather was perfect on the 19th day of Sept to learn the history, look amorously and touch this historic landmark. Having paid for a skip the line, tickets for the first floor, summit and having a guide who schooled us on the history of this landmark was invaluable to me. There is a room at the summit displaying three wax figures. The French engineer Gustave Eiffel, his daughter Claire and guest Thomas Edison. Turning around and the view from over 1000 feet above is thrilling but when overlooking Paris at night, it is spectacular! We were told that on the hour, for five minutes the tower will twinkle its 20,000 lights to get your attention. And that she does! read more

Showed up, said top closed, person at security said open. Went in and waited in line to see if we could get tickets and they couldnt sell Them to us until the top was open. The cashier was rude and told us 2 hours... so we got back out of line and waited because we disnt want to purchase only second floor tickets. We asked a security person and they said it would be soon and to watch the sign. We waited for the paper sign to change but all digital signs were still showing closed. We waited in line again and got tickets to the top. We then went to the second floor and looked around. We waited in the queue for the top for one hour, and was told the elevator closed for technical reasons. The person at the top said to go to ground floor yo get refund. We came downstairs and couldnt find elevator, all elevators closed except one. Once we arrived we were escorted to the cashier and were told we could get only partial refund but we only wanted to buy tickets if we vould go to the top. They said since we went to the second floor we couldnt receive full refund. I do not agree, we did not want to only go to the second floor. It was their fault what we paid for was not delivered. All signs were inaccurate and we heard three stories from three people. We wasted 2 hours and climbed hundreds of stairs. Definitely keep in mind you may get ripped off read more

So many people just waiting to go into and under the Eiffel Tower. I thought that showing up and going in would be fairly simple. But it was very much like the Louvre. Crowds of people waiting to see it. That is just crazy to me! But everyone wants to see this iconic structure up close, and personal lol I am a scardie-cat and can't do heights. Somewhere Audrey Hepburn is on a French motorcycle riding the perimeter as I write. And on Bastille Day, when I arrived it represents freedom. And yet seeing armed guards surveying the area reminds me of the reality of the world we live in. Vunerable to a terrorist act or recently, two drunken Americans who passed out in one of its levels overnight. As masses of people from all across the globe traverse by car, bike, bus , foot and ship; I realized its scope is infinite. Reading about it in books, seeing it in films then gazing at it in person is an experience I will never forget. Vendors pawn trinkets on you everywhere here: replicas of the Eiffel Tower that light up. Key chains. Along the grounds men carry heavy tubs of beer, wine or champagne to celebrate. And the piece de resistance at 10:30, 11ish or whenever they like at nightfall is the Eiffel Tower's facade blinking. For five minutes. A few suggestions as you go forward. Pack a comfy blanket and a warm sweater or hoodie. I'm sure as the seasons change that either gets heavier or lighter. By dawn I was shivering cold and it was summer. Pack extra Euros and your patience in your backpack. In addition and this was a thing of contention here is transportation. Parking here is non-existent. Me and my company thought about taking a bus but we saw one pass by with arms and legs of passengers sticking out. The bus driver, who stopped advised us to consider another mode of transportation. Without many options left we rode on a motor-lift that hauls groups. Luckily we shared the expense with another group who saw three crowded buses pass before we got there. My suggestion Uber if you can. We Ubered back to our Air bnb afterwards in of all cars, a Peugeot. Whilst on the grounds I could sense this intense energy, almost contemplative. I saw families, old and young with blankets sprawled onto the grass. One critique I had was in the crowd control of visitors. As we were approaching the viewing grounds a group of twenty-ish aged men who had a giant blue tooth speaker were an annoyance. They blared their musically loudly, stumbling over people and were becoming drunkenly belligerent. They shaked their bottles( a behavior learned from watching videos on MTV I assume) of beer and started spraying them onto other visitors. I do believe in the power of having a good time. However it should not be at the expense of your fellow (wo)man who want want to enjoy themselves as well. As the night drew to the close and the twinkling light show ended it did dawn on me. Subsiding the spilt chocolate crepe on my shirt. And being left to the elements it was a magical time. For example I saw a couple use this opportunity for a marriage proposal. An older couple looked like they were celebrating an anniversary. A family of different generations huddled as if this would be a memory they would share forever. If ever a manner existed to impress someone this would be it. It's interesting how a structure that has survived two wars, architectural compromise by tourists and the fickle tastes of the masses still captivates us. On the way out I had to look at it one last time. The Eiffel Tower is the summit of our imagination. It exists as a pilgrimage for tourists to check off life's wishlist. Was it a pain in the butt getting here? Yes. Were crowds uncontrollable and at times taxing? Yes. Did I wait with my company for almost two hours to use a restroom? Yes. (Then again I was reminded of the restroom lines at the Ozzfest.) In its totality even with the minor inconveniences it was well worth the visit. If you ever get the chance to see the Eiffel Tower I implore you to do so. Now all I need is to procure a Parisienne accent and walk around eating baguettes like the French do. La Tour Eiffel or better yet the Eiffel Tower (at least that's what it's known as in the English-speaking world). What can I possibly say about this landmark that hasn't already been said? She is a beauty, that she is, and she is synonymous with Paris and all its splendor. Per the landmark's website, this was built for a competition that was launched in the Journal Officiel. It wound up being built in 2 years, 2 months, and 5 days back in 1889. But honestly no one bothers knowing that. What people known it as is possibly the most-visited landmark in the world, known for its scenic views of the Seine and for romance all around. For me? Well, it's a special place. I lost my heart to Paris in 2010, and now in 2023, I can say I never got it back. Paris is my city, and when I lived there, seeing this every day was a dream come true. Perhaps this past trip I didn't go all the way to the top, but even passing by it every day just shows you the marvel of man. Paris simply isn't Paris without this. The best views of the Eiffel tower come from the places where the people are not. The side streets and avenues to the south of the tour or from across the river. In these spots just a little bit further away, you get a beautiful view of the tower that truly feels like your own. I like to avoid the zoo that is the area right below it or near Trocadero. Beware of your items as these are the most popular places for pickpockets to attack! The eiffel tower is truly magical and not at all overly hyped! Once in the daytime, while it still looks awesome, but when we returned at night, it really shines bright, literally. When I returned for the third time it was to get the tour to the top; however, we were informed there was a mechanical issue and after waiting an hour-- we were told we had to return the following day.. sadly, we were not able to do so. The Eiffel tower is also a place for tourists to come and visit when you are in France. It has been around for over a hundred years and you can go up here with an elevator or the stairs. But first, you will need to buy tickets and the best way to do that is just buying them online. If you know you want to see it during the day or evening both views are pretty. If you also have time there is a restaurant here as well. But still wasn't able to do that but maybe next time! We got there at around 9:30 AM on Monday without tickets and let me explain why we didn't buy them ahead (which was a mistake). The only ticket types you can buy online is 1. Stairs to 2nd floor or 2. Lift to 2nd floor + lift to top. The ticket we wanted is only available at the site, which is stairs to 2nd floor + lift to stop. The tower opens at 9 and the plan was to get there at 8:30 but it was a bit of a hassle to get there so we got there late. The security line was about 15 minutes - ok, not bad. Then we waited online for about 30 minutes and they told us the top was at capacity. Our only option was to come back in a few hours and you'd have to wait all over again (since they don't pre-sell the tickets) or just buy tickets for stairs to the second floor. We ended up doing stairs because we were not about to waste another half a day on this, especially since our time in Paris was already limited. By the time we got up to the second floor, which takes about 15 minutes to walk up, it was around 10:45 and pretty crowded. We looked around at the line for lift to the top and that was a hot mess. I was initially upset we couldn't go to the top but once I saw the chaos, I was kind of relieved we couldn't. The view from the 2nd floor is pretty great already. Plus there are way other better views all over the city. Of course, you have to visit the Eiffel Tower inside at least once. It's beautiful. But the whole ticketing experience was not it. They need to figure out how to handle capacity better. If waiting online and crowds all morning is not for you, a good option would be to pack a picnic and eat it at Champ de Mars. If I ever find myself in Paris again, I'll be doing that or admiring it from afar. read more
