Landmark in Paris, France... I've visited this famous piece of architecture a few times before I knew about Yelp. Back in 2000, I was here with my former co-worker. She didn't want to visit because there was a bomb threat. I told her that it's just a threat. How many miles and hours did we fly to just stay in the hotel room? She ended up walking outside with me... LOL! Our friend dropped us off this time to just get photos. He and his wife drove around the block and picked us up in-between stops. Parking is quite the challenge here! Be on your best behavior... some guards with guns marched past us!
I had a 3 pm reserved ticket To The Top and arrived 30 minutes early. I'm glad I did because they were running behind schedule. Once On Top I was almost 1,000 feet above ground and the views were dramatic. One level is fully enclosed behind large windows and the level above is open air with large metal screens for protection. That day the wind was calm so it was very pleasant to be on that level. On the open air level you can buy a glass of champagne and macarons to celebrate if you wish. Above you the tower rises for about another 100 feet for radio antennas, etc. It costs extra to go To The Top and it is worth it. If you do, go there first and then work your way down to the 2nd and then 1st levels. You can only access The Top by elevator. The 2nd level (400 feet) and 1st level (200 feet) are accessible by elevator and stairway. Remember it's much easier going downhill than uphill. By the way, the stairs are open air but enclosed with metal screens making it impossible for you to fall off. If you are on the 1st level and want to exit it is faster to do so by stairs rather than waiting on the elevator. There are upscale restaurants on the 1st and 2nd levels and there are chairs that you can sit on and enjoy the view. Actually, the famous French landmarks are better seen from the 2nd level than The Top. There are 2 Metro stations within less than 10 minute walking distance to the Tower so getting here is easy. It amazes me that this HUGE landmark was originally designed to be a temporary structure only, They were suppose to take it down but decided it was too popular.
THE GOOD ---------------- + SPECTACULAR and breath-taking 360 degree view of the entireeeeeee city of Paris! No part of Paris is unseen from here. + Different options for visiting the tower - (1) visit the base for free (2) pay to take the lift/walk up to the 2nd floor (3) pay to take the lift allllllll the way to the top - BUT, EVERYONE needs to go through the security checkpoint. No exceptions. + Worth every penny to visit the top of the tower to view the city! Don't just take photos outside or in front of the tower. Go for the full experience! THE NOT SO GOOD ---------------------------- - If you have accessibility needs or have a stroller, unfortunately, you will need to go up some steps before you reach the elevators to take you further up the tower. Not a lot steps, but definitely a few staircases. - If you buy tickets the day of your visit, waits can reach 1-2 hours, so try to buy them beforehand if you can! MIXED THOUGHTS --------------------------- = Nada. RANDOM OBSERVATIONS ------------------------------------- = As expected, it gets busy on the different levels, especially the higher ones, but it's not THAT bad. It's typical tourist attraction crowds.
I can't believe I'm finally standing in front of the Eiffel Tower! It's just as beautiful as I imagined it! And apparently at night they have it all lit up!
Wow The Eiffel Tower is amazing but to see it in person is just incredible. It is even more amazing in person and fascinating as well. The tower was completed in 1889. There were many who were opposed of it being built but now the tower is adored. We purchased ticket hubby and I to the Summer which is the very top and we were just amazed at the beauty of the tower and of Spain ! Now it does get very crowded and you do get a bit crammed but otherwise anyone visiting Paris must come see the Eiffel Tower
I could not let my first trip to Paris go by without visiting the Eiffel Tower. I mean, it's a structure that is engrained in history and pop culture, and synonymous with the city of Paris. That being said, I decided to research the different types of visits that the tower offered and plan my visit. The tower offers several ways to climb it - tickets are available to either the first/second floor as well at the summit. If you choose the former, you can then choose to climb it via stairs or lift; if you choose to go to the summit then a lift is your only option. Tickets sell out rather quickly online, but you can also try to purchase them in person. Nevertheless, I don't like leaving things up to chance so I purchased what was available to me online - tickets to the first/second floor via stairs. It's about 600 or so stairs to make it to the second floor of the tower. Along the way, there's a stop on the first floor where you can take pictures; there's also some seating areas as well as a cafe. The second floor repeats this, though there is also a gift shop here. They also have fun facts about the tower scattered throughout as well as plenty of view points. Personally, I thought the views from the first/second floor were high enough - I was snapping away. As far as the tower itself, it's definitely a sight to see in person - massive and intricately structured, I found myself just staring at it multiple times. My only regret (if you can call it) is not seeing at night up close, this is definitely something I would want to do my next time in Paris. Overall though, the Eiffel Tower is definitely worth checking out at least one during your Paris adventures.
La Tour Eiffel or the Eiffel Tower is one of the most landmarks in the world, and it is truly an iconic symbol of the French city line. When you're close to the tower, the photos aren't as beautiful as when you take a photo with the tower in the background. A few spots that are great to take photos with the Eiffel tower is from Trocadero or the bridge at Pont D'Iena for a straight short or at the bridge at Pont De l'Alma for a diagonal shot. We got to enjoy the view of the Eiffel Tower on multiple occasions as we explored the city. We witness its' charm from the day light hours and at night. We discovered that the tower sparkles at night on the hour for 5 minutes. One night we noticed it sparkled from 9:00-9:05pm and then our theory was confirmed when we saw it sparkle again from 11:00-11:05pm. What a treat! I recommend making time to visit both during the morning and at night. The Eiffel Tower is stunning and I feel like the day and the night has different charms to it.
When in Paris, you must visit the Eiffel Tower, both during the daytime and at night! The structure is massive close-up! At night if you take a boat ride along the Seine River, you'll get to see the tower pretty close-up and brightly lit. It's quite mesmerizing.
Is it touristy? Yes. Is it crowded? Yes. Is it worth it? YES!!!! My 4th time being in Paris and still love seeing this beautiful metal art piece. During the day... it's magnificent. During the night... ohhhh it's spectacular! I didn't go up this time, went in 2015... the view is beautiful but you do get better city view from Galleries de Lafayette rooftop. You can see the Eiffel Tower from plenty of hotels... so be sure to time it right... and watch the sparkle at 8pm, 9pm, 10pm, 11pm... it only sparkles for 5 minutes... so be ready!
As sad as it is, whenever I think about the Eiffel tower I can't help but think about Franz Reichelt. He was a French tailor and inventor and in 1912 he jumped off the first platform of the Eiffel to test a homemade, wearable parachute. You can imagine how that went. However, I have the utmost respect for Franz. You can't knock the hustle. Bro was really about that life and had an unparalleled self belief, rivaled only by Vegeta. A moment of silence for big Franz please.............................. My gf and I came to the Eiffel Tower, not to jump off, but with a baguette and a bottle of red wine like the good little tourists we are. I was draped in a red beret and a 80% cashmere scarf that I had picked up from a tourist stand nearby for 8 euro. It was at this moment I realized that if I ever needed to go into the witness protection program I could blend in out here pretty easily... We drank our wine and ripped into the baguette, and had a nice little moment. It's nice to just press pause every now and then and appreciate moments. My girlfriend ended up keeping this cork, attached a magnet to it, and hung it on the fridge. Beast... gonna start keeping corks like this from all major life events and moments. I sat there, half a bottle of red wine deep, thinking "damn bro really jumped off that and thought he would be good... talk about betting on yourself. He has all my respect." RIP FRANZ! This was the first tourist trap we visited after checking into our hotel in Paris. The Eiffel Tower is a must see for anyone visiting Paris. It was even more amazing then we thought it would be. Just stay away from their gift shops on the way down. They are charging around $100 Euros for a shirt. Crazy prices sons pay while they're "Eiffle Drunk" from being there, the heights of the tower or too much champagne consumed on the Summit level. What else can I say. It's the Elvis of tourism. It's the picture of France even though the French see it as a Prop in the background. We all loved it. Make sure you go to the Summit. The 2nd floor pictures may be more definable but go to the top!!! It's the f@ck'n EiffleTower. Go to the top and have a couple of glasses of Champagne!!!! Enjoy! Highly recommend.
I can't think of a public structure that evokes more of a visceral response than the Eiffel Tower. It defines Paris for all of us who know the city mostly from Hollywood movies and travel videos. It epitomizes the swooning romanticism and engineering ingenuity upon which Paris bases its global reputation. And you know what? Its intended magic worked on us. Jamie W and I decided to buy advance tickets when we decided to vacation in Paris. The last time we came here was on a quickie Chunnel trip from London. Back then, when we walked under the tower, we were ambushed by sidewalk vendors, wristband scammers, and failed pickpockets. We escaped quickly. The situation seemed much better this time because first, there was a security check before we could enter the tower grounds. Second, we made our reservation for 9:30PM because we wanted to see the sparkling lights as well as the nighttime views. The combination must've warded off the solicitors because we got to the entry gate without incident. Without a burning desire to go all the way to the top, we went for the Second Floor access tickets for 41€ each. We heard the top was unbearably crowded and that the views were not all that different from those from the second floor. Boarding the diagonal elevator (Video 3), we arrived on the second floor in minutes and navigated the platform with relative ease. The views were striking with the City of Lights moniker well earned (Video 1). Our walkabout was brief, and we chose to walk down by choice. Was it worth the effort and cost? Definitely. The best views were of the tower itself whether we were underneath it or just a few yards away. After sunset, the lights on the tower twinkle at the top of the hour for five minutes, and that magical image was well worth the wait (Video 2). It seemed photographing the tower was not only a predictable recurrence but the inevitable consequence of capturing such an iconic symbol, whether from the Trocadéro, the top of the Arc de Triomphe, or department store rooftops. 2nd time here; 1st time 10 years ago. Really beautiful views from the summit but better photos from the 2nd floor. First sparkling lights at 9 pm and then on the hour every hour after that but not sure when it stops. Trancadero was an excellent spot for photos of the tower. Gift shop was overpriced but I bought a jellycat plush croissant. Windows on summit floor enclosed area need to be cleaned. Nice that they had a comparison of all the world's tallest structures on this viewing platform. Need to get there about 30 min earlier than timer ticket and get tickets in advance. Can't do stairs and elevator for summit. Only for 2nd floor can you do the combo or just elevator.
This is a bucket list experience that does not disappoint! Those of you with fears of heights need to be prepared to face your fears though! I recommend a night experience so you can see Paris at night from the sky... Beautiful! read more

We came here during October 2024, having booked tickets for a ride to the top and a round of champagne. When you have champagne at the top on a beautiful day, you can't help but let the bubbles and the vibe work their magic. This was an excellent experience, and you can't help but be amazed with the beauty and history of this Paris icon. read more

It has always been a dream of mine to see this iconic tower. It is beautiful and a very popular attraction. I actually got the tickets on line through the Tower website as soon as they were available, which is about 2 months out. This insures that you can get a time and a date that works for you. There is no need to go through a tour company unless you really want to do so. The line to go to the top is way shorter if you already have your ticket. You will be given a time and we did not wait very long with our tickets. Views from the top are breathtaking. If possible, take the stairs during some part of your visit. You can see the intricate workings of the underside of the tower and so much more this way. Also if possible, try to catch a glimpse of it at night. It is even more beautiful then! read more
We made reservations to go to the summit via elevator on a warm August evening. The lines, while long, were even longer after when I left so I guess we did save some time already. Since the tower gets narrower, you can only imagine that the elevators also get smaller. There's a weight limit and they try to meet that requirement. It's a pretty quick ride to the second floor, and you go back out to another line, scan your passes again and another one takes you to the top. Expect lots of crowds, cool souvenirs, and a memory to last a lifetime. read more

Fine Yelp, be snooty. Make me review this engineering marvel, which in reality was built for the World's Fair in 1889. A global icon, this structure is more beautiful in person than any form of media conveys. There are many replicas; this is the original. You can see it from almost everywhere in Paris, and is truly a symbol throughout the world of what France was and hopes to aspire to be someday. Nicknamed "The Iron Lady", it stands over 1000 feet tall with a restaurant overlooking it all. I wanted to go inside, unfortunately I could not do it. Every five minutes after the hour after sunset, the tower "sparkles", another marvel I missed. I did get to see the tower illuminate though, a nice consolation prize for what I hoped to see. There are thousands of people waiting to take their photo here. I was one of them. And I saw it. read more
The Eiffel Tower is one of the most iconic structures in the world. It's a must do going to Paris. Knowing this you have to expect the crowds. If you haven't gotten a ticket there are ticket booths on both sides of the square (don't just go to the first one with a long line, look for the other). You can eat at the restaurant but make reservations or you won't get on. There is a cute gift shop on the first landing going up if you're looking for souvenirs. There is a place to buy drinks at the top so you can have a toast looking out at the views. Pretty pleasant but it does get hot and crowded so make sure to have some water (and patience) with you. read more

Amazing experience. We used the stairs it tools ~20 minutes to get to the 2nd floor and 12 to come down. Very organized now. It is now enclosed by a glass wall and you have to go through security. But we came here around 6:30 and were able to quickly purchase tickets and head up!!! Worth the steep stairs and lost pounds read more

the view was super pretty!!! we missed our tour guide but we still went up ourselves and everything went great!! we got to go to the very top snd then we took the stairs down from there! the have champagne at the top and macaroons as well! didn't try the champagne but the macaroons were really good! read more
What a landmark! It's the most visited monument with an admission fee in the entire world, and deservedly so. We didn't make the trip up, but we saw it everyday we were in Paris, and you really couldn't help it as it is such a dominating and attractive sight. Even in 2025. I can't imagine how amazing and other-worldly it must have been back in 1889! read more
Amazing experience. I would recommend buying the tickets with the lift, made the ascend much easier and less time consuming. I would also recommend bringing a jacket during early spring admission if you go all the way to the top. It's very windy up there and it was cold! Also recommend coming back at night when they light up the tower. So beautiful. read more

It's impressive but lordy what a zoo. Good luck getting tickets. You have to book weeks in advance and even then it's a crap shoot and super expensive. Even with tickets security lines are super long and hawkers, scammers, and pickpockets are rampant. The park itself is quite nice and you don't have to get very close to get a great view of the tower. I personally think the lines are less long and the view is just as good from the Arc de Triomphe, and they don't hustle you down from the top right away either. To each their own, I guess, but this is one place that is way over hyped IMHO. read more

Just come, see, and enjoy, visit with no preconception, La Tour Eiffel is a must if you are in Paris - it is an engineering marvel and to be admired, have an afternoon picnic in its lawn, while its shadow cast a comfortable shade under the Parisian sun, meet and mingle with people, live that French je ne sais quoi - just simply enjoy! either way, going around Paris, this structure is like a beacon that watches over you, it seems close every time you see a glimpse of it but yet far. I've always end-up coming to Paris in September during fashion week hence I never get to enjoy this magnificence in its plain glory with no contraptions, stages or runway being setup next or around it, I do however enjoy its beauty in the evening, when this extraordinary metal contraption sparkles and glow for several minutes in the dark of night, it starts at 8PM and I believe cycles every hour until 1? If in Paris, it's almost kray-kray not to see it, whether you decide to take the elevator to the top of this structure or simply admire from a distance - La Tour Eiffel is a Paris must. read more

one of the world's most recognizable structure. Yes, i've seen countless pictures and movies but nothing compared to actually seeing it in person for the first time. When we saw the tower in all its glory, it was at night time, and it was stunning. Our hotel was nearby the Trocadéro Gardens, and we walked over at night to get a glimpse of the tower across the seine river. i can't really describe it, but something about the tower at night time with all the lights, i was awestruck. the next morning, we hired a photographer to take photos in front of the tower (again, by the trocadero garden side) and they turned out really nicely. Honestly, if you're coming to paris for the first time. I would bet my life's saving that this is one of the top attractions you're here for. Unfortunately, our europe trip was kinda short so i didn't get a chance to walk closer on my other days to gaze up from really close. next time i'm in paris, i'll do that... and maybe take the elevator ride up. read more

It really takes a while to take in the spectacle of this massive steel lady that towers in Paris. The weather was perfect on the 19th day of Sept to learn the history, look amorously and touch this historic landmark. Having paid for a skip the line, tickets for the first floor, summit and having a guide who schooled us on the history of this landmark was invaluable to me. There is a room at the summit displaying three wax figures. The French engineer Gustave Eiffel, his daughter Claire and guest Thomas Edison. Turning around and the view from over 1000 feet above is thrilling but when overlooking Paris at night, it is spectacular! We were told that on the hour, for five minutes the tower will twinkle its 20,000 lights to get your attention. And that she does! read more

So gorgeous! Views are amazing and obviously a must do in Paris. If you can't book tickets ahead of time, get there an hour before opening and you'll be at the top hardly any lines! When we looked online it said no more available for the summit for the next 3 days, we went the next day at 8am and we got in no problem. read more

Take the elevator or stairs all the way to the top! Okay so we showed up here without pre-booking a tour. That was a big mistake! The line was longggggggg. It just kept going and going. So many people just waiting to go into and under the Eiffel Tower. I thought that showing up and going in would be fairly simple. But it was very much like the Louvre. Crowds of people waiting to see it. That is just crazy to me! But everyone wants to see this iconic structure up close, and personal lol I am a scardie-cat and can't do heights. I wanted to go all the way up in the elevator but could not do it lol I guess I am just not adventures enough! It's not worth the panic attack to be honest. If you can stomach it, go up to the tippy top of the Eiffel Tower! I'm sure that view is amazing!! I will live vicariously through you and everyone else brave enough to go to the top lol read more

The Eiffel Tower represents and symbolizes everything France is. A place where lovers converge. The realized architect of writer's imaginations. Somewhere Audrey Hepburn is on a French motorcycle riding the perimeter as I write. And on Bastille Day, when I arrived it represents freedom. And yet seeing armed guards surveying the area reminds me of the reality of the world we live in. Vunerable to a terrorist act or recently, two drunken Americans who passed out in one of its levels overnight. As masses of people from all across the globe traverse by car, bike, bus , foot and ship; I realized its scope is infinite. Reading about it in books, seeing it in films then gazing at it in person is an experience I will never forget. Vendors pawn trinkets on you everywhere here: replicas of the Eiffel Tower that light up. Key chains. Along the grounds men carry heavy tubs of beer, wine or champagne to celebrate. And the piece de resistance at 10:30, 11ish or whenever they like at nightfall is the Eiffel Tower's facade blinking. For five minutes. A few suggestions as you go forward. Pack a comfy blanket and a warm sweater or hoodie. I'm sure as the seasons change that either gets heavier or lighter. By dawn I was shivering cold and it was summer. Pack extra Euros and your patience in your backpack. In addition and this was a thing of contention here is transportation. Parking here is non-existent. Me and my company thought about taking a bus but we saw one pass by with arms and legs of passengers sticking out. The bus driver, who stopped advised us to consider another mode of transportation. Without many options left we rode on a motor-lift that hauls groups. Luckily we shared the expense with another group who saw three crowded buses pass before we got there. My suggestion Uber if you can. We Ubered back to our Air bnb afterwards in of all cars, a Peugeot. Whilst on the grounds I could sense this intense energy, almost contemplative. I saw families, old and young with blankets sprawled onto the grass. One critique I had was in the crowd control of visitors. As we were approaching the viewing grounds a group of twenty-ish aged men who had a giant blue tooth speaker were an annoyance. They blared their musically loudly, stumbling over people and were becoming drunkenly belligerent. They shaked their bottles( a behavior learned from watching videos on MTV I assume) of beer and started spraying them onto other visitors. I do believe in the power of having a good time. However it should not be at the expense of your fellow (wo)man who want want to enjoy themselves as well. As the night drew to the close and the twinkling light show ended it did dawn on me. Subsiding the spilt chocolate crepe on my shirt. And being left to the elements it was a magical time. For example I saw a couple use this opportunity for a marriage proposal. An older couple looked like they were celebrating an anniversary. A family of different generations huddled as if this would be a memory they would share forever. If ever a manner existed to impress someone this would be it. It's interesting how a structure that has survived two wars, architectural compromise by tourists and the fickle tastes of the masses still captivates us. On the way out I had to look at it one last time. The Eiffel Tower is the summit of our imagination. It exists as a pilgrimage for tourists to check off life's wishlist. Was it a pain in the butt getting here? Yes. Were crowds uncontrollable and at times taxing? Yes. Did I wait with my company for almost two hours to use a restroom? Yes. (Then again I was reminded of the restroom lines at the Ozzfest.) In its totality even with the minor inconveniences it was well worth the visit. If you ever get the chance to see the Eiffel Tower I implore you to do so. Now all I need is to procure a Parisienne accent and walk around eating baguettes like the French do. Never mind I'll probably drop them. read more
STUNNING! My husband and I went to France for our 10 year anniversary and we both decided from the beginning that we wanted to skip the actual tour up the Eiffel Tower because we knew from friends that it would take quite some time to climb up and we wanted to be able to take time exploring other things as well. We went and viewed the Eiffel Tower, but then ultimately took a tour on the River de Seine so we could get information about all the different key spots in Paris. Highly recommend doing this! read more
Amazing architecture. Took only 2 years to construct,no injuries or deaths. Elevators were installed 120 plus years ago. Went to the top,amazing views. Tour included glass of champagne.lines not too bad,with prepaid tickets. read more

La Tour Eiffel or better yet the Eiffel Tower (at least that's what it's known as in the English-speaking world). What can I possibly say about this landmark that hasn't already been said? She is a beauty, that she is, and she is synonymous with Paris and all its splendor. Per the landmark's website, this was built for a competition that was launched in the Journal Officiel. It wound up being built in 2 years, 2 months, and 5 days back in 1889. But honestly no one bothers knowing that. What people known it as is possibly the most-visited landmark in the world, known for its scenic views of the Seine and for romance all around. For me? Well, it's a special place. I lost my heart to Paris in 2010, and now in 2023, I can say I never got it back. Paris is my city, and when I lived there, seeing this every day was a dream come true. Perhaps this past trip I didn't go all the way to the top, but even passing by it every day just shows you the marvel of man. Paris simply isn't Paris without this. La Tour Eiffel, again, is synonymous with Paris, and no words I write can give it justice. Just do yourself a favor and go visit this sight. You can thank me later. read more

Awesome time here! I believe this was the place I looked forward to most for my trip. I came here three times while I was in Paris. Once in the daytime, while it still looks awesome, but when we returned at night, it really shines bright, literally. When I returned for the third time it was to get the tour to the top; however, we were informed there was a mechanical issue and after waiting an hour-- we were told we had to return the following day.. sadly, we were not able to do so. Aside from the beautiful sights at nights-- be cognizant of thieves and con artists that linger around the area. This should be at the top of your lists to visit. read more

The Eiffel tower is also a place for tourists to come and visit when you are in France. It has been around for over a hundred years and you can go up here with an elevator or the stairs. But first, you will need to buy tickets and the best way to do that is just buying them online. If you know you want to see it during the day or evening both views are pretty. If you also have time there is a restaurant here as well. But still wasn't able to do that but maybe next time! Just be aware of your belongings and what you bring here because sometimes there are a lot of people and it could be crowded. read more
