This is the easiest review I will write. Michelin starred and well worth it, this is the best restaurant in Chiswick if not West London. Now much more than a local gem this will bring in diners from far and wide. Happily appearances can be deceptive as the restaurant is quite un-assuming and even dull to look at from the outside. However step in and you will experience a wonderful meal coupled with excellent service. A very French feel to it (as you would imagine bearing in mind the name) they also do a fixed priced menu from £37-50 although expect the wine from the extensive selection to be expensive. To conclude - One of thebest best with a big wow factor - be careful and it doesn't need to be mega expensive and the ideal place for a special evening / meal. Expect to book well in advance.

Very good restaurant featuring unusual French specialities focusing on meats. Good single malt selection (try the rare Adelphia). Excellent cheese board. Attentive, knowledgeable staff, comfortable surroundings. Quite expensive, but if you are in London, you're used to it.

It was our monthly date, my husband and I go on a date once a month, this French treasure was our destination for this month. We couldn't go at night but the atmosphere still seemed as romantic (maybe because it is winter and outside it is always dark!). We were warmly greeted and shown to our table, as we had heard it was better to reserve in advance. A very stylish feel to the restaurant and very intimate. We came wanting to eat really nice food and not wanting to spend way too much. t was just what we got. We had the three course set menu for £37.50. Wide selection of appetizers, mains and dessert, but definitely the best was the roast pork with vacherin (my favourite french cheese) stuffed potatoes. It was also accompanied by black pudding which I don't like so I got it substituted by more veggies. They have 25 pages of wines to choose from everywhere in the world and regions, Italy, France, Spain, Portugal, Luxembourg, Chile, California, Washington, Lebanon, and many more! An exceptional afternoon, next time I would like to pay the extra fiver for their cheese board which looked amazing, I had a peek at our neighbours's board.

Situated just off Chiswick High Road, 5 minutes' walk from Turnham Green station, La Trompette has long been mentioned as Chiswick's best restaurant, and it seems that word's got around as the place was completely full on a cold and wet Tuesday evening, so, before reading any further, it seems necessary to book unless you want to chance it. The restaurant itself has a relaxed feel and atmosphere, with a mixture of clientele ranging from casual diners to people talking business on their expense accounts. Something I always look out for in a restuarant is an up-to-date menu (avoid laminated ones at all costs) - it seems the menu here changes slightly every day and the one given to me had today's date on it - surely a good sign :) Food itself was very very good - I've uploaded three furtive photos of the meal I had, plus one of the menu so you can get a good idea of the range of food they have. All excellently presented, we both agreed that our main courses were the best, both the lamb and the beef being cooked perfectly. The wine list is extensive, with the Sommelier bursting at the seams to give you his knowledge about the fruitiness or spiciness of your particular choice! Wine is decanted into a erm decanter at your table. I wouldn't quite put this in the Michelin star league (I think it had one last year, but don't think it's got one this year - although I'm quite prepared to be corrected about this) but it's very good, both from quality of food and service points of view, with little to grumble about. One further point - I was told that it was hugely expensive by friends, although in actual fact, it was a 3-course menu for £35, which I think, for its quality, is very good value. I don't think you'd come out of here £500 lighter (as the rumours go), unless you get the bottle of 1990s Bordeaux for a few pounds shy of half a grand! Like I've said before, a sign of a good restaurant is whether you'd go back, which I would, and judging by how busy it was, others do too.

Chiswick's premiere restaurant and one of the best regarded restaurants in the capital. It was a surprise when LT opened because before then Chiswick had nothing to compare with the top restaurants towards the centre of town. Centred around SW France charcuteries, foie gras and confits, sometimes the menu can be "too meaty". But there's always a choice, even for vegetarians. Recommended are roast rib of beef, red mullet with ratatouille and ravioli of rabbit with spring greens. Wine list is well appointed, with 600 bins mainly from Burgundy overseen by an award winning sommelier. Expensive and one for the business account, birthdays or anniversaries.

Such unassuming façade, yet such modern and spacious restaurant interior! The wait staff was friendly and attentive. We ordered the tasting menu, which did not disappoint at all. It appeared the tasting menu was put together with seasonal ingredients, so it might change on a regular basis? The dishes were extremely thought through and refined, with exquisite nuances of ingredients and flavors in each dish. Each course came in a timely manner. There is a full bar and a long solid wine list. Slightly off the beaten path and worth the visit!

Wonderful. Tried the scallops (surprisingly and delightfully cold), pigeon lovely and well cooked, I had the mille feuilles for dessert but my kids had the banana soufflé which was like eating a cloud out of heaven

Having trecked to deepest SW France every month for the past few years to visit mum I've seen the state of French rural cooking and it's not bon. So I was hoping a less intrepid short trek down the Shepherd's Bush Rd might yield something with a little more je ne sais quoi. The restaurant itself is most inviting. Obligatory 20's ad posters adorn the walls. Wooden tables with cloths, all that jazz. And I want the mustard tiles that adorn the loo. All very lived in and homely. And welcoming too. Our waitress bought the specials board with her and gave it some Anthea Redfern, our choices made all the harder for her doing so. Is there a man who doesn't tip up at a French bistro, scour the menu, deliberate, pontificate, cogitate and then order the steak and chips? If there is I'll show you someone going through transition. It's just what men do. And so did I. The steak on offer was onglet. Only the French can make a cheap choice sound exotic. Note. It's not cheap. £30. The missus went for a chicken and tarragon pie which sounded more French than that but basically it described a chicken and tarragon pie. We ordered a starter to share, anchoiade tartinette. Gentlemen's Relish on toast, not the strictest of Google Translates but serves my purpose here. What came looked a little uninspiring. I know bistro is homely and simple but this slice of toast with a mercifully thin spread of the salty stuff and topped with walnut and boiled egg needed a bit of sprucing up somehow. The plate looked bare but we both agreed any joy here was actually in the eating which frankly is the most important thing. We quaffed without quibble and enjoyed what we ate. Punchy, interestingly textured, it got the taste buds going for the mains. The steak was good. Quickly fried with lots of seasoning. Simple stuff for this simple man, The chips were excellent. Thin, brittle and immersed in good hot fat for a suitable period of time. I'm a lover of the big fat English chip but when a French fry is done this well it makes me wonder if Brexit may have been a mistake. The chicken and tarragon pie was a mess. This is the provincial French fare I remember so, um, fondly from my trips to see mum. Her eventual demise had one welcome upside inasmuch as I never have to face another boil in the bag confit duck horror show as long as I live. It really is a poor show food-wise out there right now unless you live in a city and even then it's slim pickings. This dish didn't disappoint in terms of authenticity. Leather-like pastry eventually giving way to dry chicken mush inside. There was a small jug of Dubbin for the purpose of lubrication but it only added to the sense that this dish had been lying around for some time before a quick tap tap ping. The mash potato accompaniment was even worse. Where they were trying to replicate the Robuchon butter heaven, sans butter,, what was delivered looked and felt like glue paste. Luckily it didn't taste of that, it tasted of nothing at all. And it had a skin on it. Something you had to break through to get to the warm bit. A complete disaster. I grabbed my pomme frites seven at a time as jealous eyes wandered towards the basket. That the same root vegetable could render two such contrasting end results seems almost impossible but there you go. I wondered why this cute little place couldn't just boil the potato, mash it, add a little milk, butter and salt, possibly some parsley and be happy with the result. It's hard to beat. Their efforts to do something more complex left us with wallpaper paste. Aside leather shoe with dry chicken mush. And gloop. The French beans looked sad. Well wouldn't you? A wonderfully authentic experience in some ways. A disappointingly authentic experience in others. Say Lavvy.

First course salads were good but mains were really poorly put together, ingredients not fresh, and portions small. Worthy of note: On one of the dishes they ran out of the side, so offered us a choice, we said that the chef should decide, but unfortunately what they chose wasn't to our liking, so we asked for green beans to fix it, and to our surprise, were charged for it! Asked to remove the charge when the bill came, and it was done, however the manager was visibly "peeved" at the request. This is normal in other countries, and at their location in the new Fulham Reach development they are serving international clientele, so perhaps attitude adjustment is in order? Puddings were not worth even the reduced set menu prices, and one was particularly bad where cold canned pears were used. Seriously??? Why even bother having the set menu, not sure. It needs to be really good to bring people back, not make them stay away...strange... Staff is nice and welcoming. Dog friendly section is a big plus. We may give it another try in the future and order from the regular menu, to see if it is better than a budget option. Sadly, absolutely do not recommend the set menu though.

Follow the signs and you'll find it easily. The atmosphere in this place is intimate and calm, which is nice for either a romantic date or family get together. No music is played in the background. Mussels were on special this day, and seemed to be worth a try. I didn't go for mussels but had a feeling it would have been a good French traditional experience, as I saw a lady sitting at the table nearby being served a steaming pot full of mussels which looks quite exciting and smelled delicious. They also offer a fixed price menu for £17.50 containing a 3 course meal and possibility to choose between three options for each course. For a starter I took a cream of broccoli soup with flaked almonds which was delicious. I went for a braised pork belly and cheek with macaroni à l'ancienne as a main. The pork is not normally my meat of preference, but i quite enjoyed this dish as the pork was really nice and tender. I was not so sure about the macaroni though. We shared two dessers with my sputnik: bay leaf ice cream and a mandarin sorbet. I was not sure what to expect from bay leaf ice cream and was pleasantly surprised by the taste which was not too sweet. I was pleased with the service, the staff is caring and happy to give advice on the dishes. Before leaving I got a little present from the restaurant in a form of a few biscuits nicely wrapped. It was a cute unexpected gest.

After a long day at work, I trekked down the quiet side of Chiswick to Thames road for a late bite. I was seated upstairs amidst couples and groups of friends, next to a corner fireplace. Annie's shepherds pie (a special on my first visit) and a side of broccoli hit the spot. A few nights later I tried a more basic fish and chips, plus a pear, green bean, and shallot salad. The fish was flakey and battered perfectly - not the sloppy pub stuff you find elsewhere. The salad was refreshing. Finally, I've also enjoyed the halloumi burger. It's thick and well-executed.
