AAA sent this company for roadside assistance when my vehicle wouldn't start. I'm a single mom on…read morea roadtrip with my 12 year old twins and I don't know anyone in this state. The area we broke down is very sketchy and we've been harassed by unhoused all night. The tech they sent arrived with no tools and apparently no knowledge of automotive- we had power so I didn't think it was the battery- but all he could do was try to charge the battery- of course that didn't work so he gave up. Said they didn't have a tow truck and he would have to ask his boss what she thought.... Apparently she didn't think we were worthy of help because he then left us stranded on the side of the road and drove off. AAA kept the service call open stating- "still trying to decide on the best resolution for your service call" until about midnight when the script changed to "thank you for working with us" which I guess means the call was closed without resolution or so much as a phone call or text. I'm still stranded with my young kids the next day and have no idea how I will get help in this small town. Looks like we will have to leave our Mercedes behind and take the train home. I wish AAA would contract with a more reliable shop- this will end up costing me a ton of extra money time and stress because they couldn't help and didn't follow through to let me know they weren't coming back until after midnight. So much for AAA- because they use these guys- I had to walk to a hotel, pay for an unexpected night, wait until the next morning to find my own tow company and mechanic and wait in the same sketchy. Active area for many hours. I won't get my car back to Albuquerque anytime soon and my kids are pretty traumatized at the experience..

I go to the shot itself and a condescending asshole tech acted like a true hick and brushed this old wrench off... I would let these guys change a tire on a Radio Flier wagon... Who's in charge?!...

Just over a week ago on a late Friday afternoon we were cruising along to our vacation spot in Red…read moreRiver to spend the next week when we heard bad mechanical noises coming from below. We barely got pulled off to the side of the road (no shoulder) while pulling our camper and side x sides. I called a couple places and no one nearby could help, called a tow company and they appeared helpful however after an hour we still did not know if or when they would come. One of the places I called advised us to call A 1 Automatics, who was both a tow company and a transmission shop. They were an hour and a half away in Trinidad, Co. By this time we knew it was our torque converter, fly wheel, and hopefully little else. I'm bad with names however I called and believe I spoke with the owner who asked a few questions and was on his way. Friends who had arrived before us came out and got our camper and toys for us, moving them to our campground. A 1 Automatics took the truck to Trinidad , he understood we needed the truck to get us home the following Friday. I canceled the other tow company who said they had someone on the way, however failed to let us know, and interestingly no one saw another tow truck. Transmission work is never cheap however they let us know what needed to be done and what didn't, as well as the cost. They used better quality parts and had us up and running for less money than we thought and by the following Thursday morning. We had absolutely no issues during the 10 hour trip back home. My husband and I truly appreciate these folks getting us in, taking care of us in a timely manner, and at a fair price. If your in the Trinidad Co., area and have trouble these are the guys to call.

They towed my truck in to their shop and everything seemed perfectly fine from the start. As I was…read morewaiting for one of the mechanics to drop me off at the Super 8 about a mile away. I noticed a sign that says, "If you buy your own parts, there will be 15% added to the labor" which was a definite red flag in hindsight. The issues started when I called in to get an estimate. They said they could not send me an estimate to my email of everything itemized. They just offered a total figure. Upon asking them to breakdown the costs individually, they ended up trying to charge me $2900 for the radiator when a fan, fan shroud, radiator and hose all together costs $3300 when he fan shroud for my Pete costs $900... You can figure out how much they mark up their prices. When asking Jeff and Kelly about the breakdown of how much the labor costs (which goes by a set amount of hours from the book) they initially told me that it was 6 hours... But because I wanted to buy my own parts, the cost was now 8 hours. If I'm not happy with it, I am more than happy to have my truck towed to Peterbilt in Pueblo... Ok so let me break this down, because I'm not letting you make a million dollars off marking the parts up... You're saying now it suddenly takes more time to fix my truck and now the amount per hour also goes up? These guys are out of their mind. When I called back the next day to just have them tow my truck like Kelly suggested, Kelly threw a hissy fit and said that they refuse to tow my truck and that I will have to find someone else to tow it for me. This is the absolute last time I go here again for a tow or repair in southern Colorado. I wouldn't recommended my enemy to go to Kelly's towing for water if he were to be dying of thirst in the Sahara Desert and he was the only game in town. You have been warned about their deceptive price practices. Right down the street there are definitely honest guys at J&M Tire and Towing. Their labor is cheaper, its a bigger shop, better work and they're honey guys that aren't trying to take advantage of a situation and making a million dollars off of you.

The best experience at an auto repair shop! The part needed is no longer manufactured, no one in town could help me and I thought I would have to postpone my 900 mile trip. I stopped by Kelly's as a last-ditch effort and they immediately began troubleshooting both trailer and truck. The mechanic on duty was Robert and he's pretty amazing with his abilities, skills and great attitude! A part was quickly delivered and I watched Robert expertly rewire, test and finish the job like a pro. I was expecting to pay an enormous bill so it was a surprise when the total cost was so reasonable! I was on my way in less than two hours, a happy camper! I would trust this business for honest, high quality work.
