When I got to Alamosa, however, the steering wheel started to get stiff, and so did the brakes. As soon as I turned into La Due Ave to get home to Sanford, my dash began flickering fast, then died. I could not start my car! Thank goodness I was close to home, so my husband came and tried to jump my car to no avail. Flickering continued. We called around for car repair shops and everyone recommended Layton's. We are so happy they did. Not only did they tow my car for $100, but they also recommended Garcia's for car repair. Before, I was having flats nearly every week. After they installed a set of 10-ply tires (E rated), the problem was solved. This time, I specifically asked to be scheduled on a day that was relatively empty and explained my frustration from the first visit, including having to leave my car overnight. I was assured that this would not be an issue and that they would be able to get to my car since that day was "wide open." I dropped my car off on the scheduled day first thing in the morning and did not hear back from the shop at all. I called again at 4:30 p.m., one hour before they closed, only to be told--once again--that they had not touched the car and it was still sitting where I left it. They started offering excuses, but at that point I was done hearing them. I told them not to touch the vehicle because I was not in a position to leave my car overnight again. When I arrived to pick it up, I was met with attitude. The owner slammed my keys on the counter and made a comment along the lines of "sorry, but I'm not perfect." That response was completely unprofessional. This is a business, with a receptionist and staff. At the very least, someone could have called to say they weren't going to get to the car that day so I could come pick it up, instead of tying up my entire day waiting without a vehicle. My time is money too, and it was completely wasted--twice. If you know you can't get to a customer's vehicle or don't have enough staff to keep up with the workload, don't take the car in. Unfortunately, based on my experience, I cannot recommend this shop.

We located America's Auto Care & Tire about 1/4 mile from us and "Missy" had her repair technician remove the tire, check the damage (which wasn't repairable) and install our full size spare tire at no cost. Very rare will you find a business that "helps" someone in need as this shop did. They have earned our business, gratitude and respect.
