I was going to be in Detroit for a few days and was looking for a nice day spa for a mani/pedi and a massage. I couldn't find anything nearby that seemed nice and had the services I wanted, or even had good customer service over the phone. So I found La Vida and emailed them with a request and Frank got back to me almost immediately. I was out of town and didn't respond right away, and he was assertive enough to follow up with me, very friendly and professional. We booked the queen and king for a Day package in from the moment we walked in we were met with smiling faces and greetings. My treatment started with a full body scrub, went onto a massage, and then a lovely facial. Maria was wonderful! After my body treatment, I had a spa pedicure and Evelyn was equally as delightful and very good. The building is an unassuming little house which was converted into the day spa. Inside it is tasteful and well-laid out. This is a little hidden gem about 20 minutes from where we were staying in Corktown near downtown Detroit. If I'm in Detroit again I will definitely book with La Vida, it was great! read more

I hate that I have to re write this review after a year. Last year I went in for a little "me" time away and booked an appointment as I've been to this salon a couple times before and had amazing experiences. This time was not. I booked a sugar scrub/ massage and a facial. My scrub/ massage was not good. I got the scrub for 15-20 mins then went to wash off, when the girl came back in, she lightly rubbed me down in oil. My services were done 20 mins early (did have to wait for a bit for her to come back in after washing off the scrub) When I was done, I asked them does the massage not come with it anymore? The lady that gave me my services as well as the manager on duty both said oh no just a light rub down. I did tell her I was done early as well which I got a discount to 88$ for that service (88$ for a 20 mins scrub ok?) I did write a review which the owner Frank called me personally to find out what happened. In said call he did offer me to come back when him and his wife were home to get the service again on them and he would have his wife do it, so it was done correctly. So now I am here writing this review. I wanted to take my bestie for the scrub/massage for her Christmas gift and figured since I have the free one, I will join her (we always go together anyways) We are just booking for May 9th as with life this was the only time we could get in together. Well Frank just called and said he did not offer me a free one and that I got a discount that day. I said OK sure I got a discount but 88$ for a sugar scrub ok whatever. He made it seem like I needed the free service, I don't I can pay for myself but when you are offered a free service for the service you didn't get then to now turn around and change your mind and say you don't remember saying that, is crazy to me. He made me happy in this time so I would take my original review down (which I did after speaking with him as I thought he was making it right, guess not) Needless to say, we have now cancelled our appointment, and we will not be returning to La Vida Salon again! read more

The spa has been very accommodating both times I have attended. Although my last experience was not the greatest as the person who did my manicure and pedicure said she was able to do something she was not able to do. She took very long and usually time wouldn't have been an issue but I was with a group and the rest of my party was moving on to their next service before mine hadn't been close to complete. I opted to skip a number of steps in the next service to catch up to them. The salon although very apologetic did not offer to compensate me by way of a discount despite not receiving the service I paid for. I did take home the bottle of polish used so that I could return home and repaint my nails, which was a good thing because there's nothing worse than everyone knowing you were going for a spa day and seeing nails all messed up. I had a wonderful experience at La Vida spa and salon and wanted to share my thoughts. We first met the owners, Frank and Maria, almost a year ago at a party. Today, I decided to visit their spa. I sent an email to book appointment the same day and in a span of five minutes I got a call from Frank to arrange the schedule. I am so glad he accommodated us for the service. I was able to booked a couples massage and also scheduled a hair appointment for me as well same day at 2 pm. Since we are only visiting Windsor for the weekend. For my hair, I chose to get a Balayage, a technique that gives a subtle, blended look. My hairdresser, Marianne, listens to what I wanted for my hair & she. gave recommendations. She spent a good 3 hours on it, and I must say, she did an incredible job, she took time and focused, I like the way she is being nice. The result of my hair service was a balanced and softer look that I loved. The business owner also checked on me from time to time. Next came the couples massage, our first time at the spa. It was truly fantastic, especially for my husband, who experienced a strong Thai massage from a skilled practitioner. My husband was so happy with it. But unfortunately with my massage therapist, I find it is an "ok" service. I would say from 1-10 points , I will give her only 6 points because she forgot to massage my both arms. I had didn't quite meet my expectations like the full body massage. It lacked the desired pressure and technique, leaving me feeling unsatisfied and tense afterward. At first, She was not able to introduce herself, I find her timid and not friendly. The ambiance at La Vida is upscale and the salon feels above average. Clean and smells good inside. They have different rooms for various services, which adds to the experience. While the cost is a bit on the higher side, the top-notch service of the business owners / reception host , my hairdresser and one of the massage therapist who is from Thailand justifies everything. Wifi: Free with password Parking: If you are a new customers like us . There's a few parking spots in the back, a metered front street parking and I think the side streets is a free parking. Overall, we had a great time. I was thrilled with my hair and the massages were simply remarkable. We're definitely planning on returning to La Vida spa and salon in the future.
