Valencia consistently has the highest number of IB graduates and about 90+% of students pass their AP exams. We've met some of the most caring and knowledgeable teachers and counselors. VHS offers many sports, clubs, band and creative programs for students to join and make friends. Valencia offers many opportunities for growth for my children. We are thankful for the many wonderful programs and people we've met. There is no one perfect high school out there. Valencia represents real-world diversity, rigor and opportunities to help our children prepare for their college, careers, and life. I'd highly recommend VHS to any student who is ready to take on new experiences, and be academically challenged. We live in a district with 4 excellent high schools. Our experience was that if you try to express your feedbacks to improve school administrations and community relationship, it is his call. He rarely listened and became defensive and bossy. A good principal serves the community, welcome parents' suggestions and have good communication skills. When he has different opinions with you, you see an attitude instantly. Other than that, the teachers we have been experiencing are great! That is why I gave this school a 3 star.

He's in Jazz 1 which is the highest level of student musicians. There three levels currently...3, 2 and 1. We've attended several concerts in the El Dorado Music Center. It's a great place with good seats and great acoustics. But best of all is the music director, Eric Sampson. He's done a fabulous job with the kids. Usually when they have a concert they will invite a big name musician to come and mentor and play accompany the band. This year they had Bijon Watson an accomplished trumpet player. If you get a chance to come see these kids play, do it! They're unbelievably talented.

Everything is organized so well. The Principal too, I really enjoy her weekly Friday newsletter. I love the community building, like the September "movie night" the PTA held. My kid has a "reading buddy" who comes and reads to him once a week from the upper grade levels, which I think is a great idea. There is no bad thing to say, really. I was so nervous bringing my kid here, because the BetterSchools rating is 6/10, but really, it's truly an amazing school, and the teachers and staff really care.

The worst part is that the principal of this school wrote a welcome back letter including one of the staff that hurt my child and said she "retired".

As a new hire, I visited the grounds to be fingerprinted and finalize paperwork. I didn't read a sentence correctly in my email and ended up in the wrong building by mistake. Well, it didn't end as a mistake. I met the nicest lady in records who was full of immense joy (strong customer service skills)! She welcomed me once I told her I was here for fingerprints and clearly directed me to where I needed to be. That interaction quite literally made my morning. Can't put a price on genuine, can ya? The fingerprint gal was also helpful. The process was super easy and the paperwork brought over to the same room. Lots of stuff to go over, but I'm so grateful for their hiring standards and practices. I see many individuals from the district, constantly attending city and community-type events and it makes me proud to not only live in Placentia, but now be part of the district and work for them too.

I just had bad shampoo and dandruff, not lice. I got in trouble for another students bad and inappropriate behavior and was constantly getting poked at for my clothing. I lived in a place where it snowed before moving to California so I only had warm clothing, and the school did nothing about the teasing. I felt horrible for a long time and now have a therapist. I worried about my hair for so long and spent most of my time worrying about what I look like, which is not healthy.

I want to focus my review on the Expanded Learning Program that provides after school care for my children. My family can go on and on about how exceptionally wonderful this program is! Mrs. Behan is the ABSOLUTE BEST and works so hard every day to ensure our children are not only supported, but are cared for and loved. When we first joined the program years ago, the idea of leaving my kids in someone else's care was unsettling. My worries quickly dissolved and it's to the point where my kids don't want to leave when I pick them up. They absolutely adore Mrs. Behan and enjoy all the amazing activities and opportunities the program offers. They have gotten to participate in drama club, basketball club, Lego club, and yoga just to name a few. The environment is welcoming and the kids are so well behaved and play well together. This could not happen without great leadership. I feel so lucky to have my children a part of this program and do not take it for granted.
