Flips Furniture Service - After John

Can I give 10 STARS!?…read more TLDR; John is an absolute **lifesaver**. He's a true pro who knows furniture mechanics. Call him before you call anyone else. He saved me a fortune! I was convinced I was going to have to drop several grand to replace my 10-year-old Room & Board sofa. He came in, diagnosed the issue immediately, and did a professional foam reinforcement and spring repair that has the couch sitting like it's *brand new* again. Beyond the work, he was a pleasure to deal with. He even took the time to look at a neighbor's custom furniture repair while he was here and gave them solid, friendly advice on how to save their money. No high-pressure sales from this dude. He also specializes in 'sofa surgery' -- disassembling furniture to fit through those notoriously tight DMV hallways and elevators, then rebuilding it perfectly on the other side. It's a specialized skill that is a total game-changer for anyone living in DC. Note: There are a couple of negative reviews on here which you can disregard. My experience was def the exact opposite. He is a total professional and a master of his craft. He's a vet and a nice guy. :)

For reasons I won't get into here, it made me more sense for me to hire a repairman to fix it than to go through the company's return/replacement process. I searched for a furniture pro, connected with John, and he came out the next day. John's been in the business for ~15 years. You can tell he cares a lot about his customers and takes pride in his work. He arrived, fixed the broken frame and cleaned the upholstery for an incredibly reasonable price. THE COUCH LOOKS BETTER AFTER JOHN WORKING ON IT THAN IT DID WHEN IT ARRIVED! I am very grateful that he could help me out today. Separately, I feel it's worth noting that John was very professional. I'm a woman who lives alone and am generally cautious about who comes to my home. John was NOT creepy, and I appreciated that. Ladies, if you are looking to hire someone to do furniture work around the home, you'll be fine calling Flips Furniture Service

My wife and I moved from a 1 bedroom apartment (~930sq ft) to a 1 bedroom condo (~1000sq ft). The distance between the locations was about 30 mins at most (DC to Alexandria). The movers arrived right on time, were very professional, and were very careful with our things. Now the bad: they were exceptionally slow. I have moved twice before with the exact same amount of total items/furniture using different movers and it took them about 1.5hrs total for the entire move. I hired Local Motion for 2 hours and it ended up taking them 8 hours. While there was a small delay of 30 minutes due to no fault of their own, their sluggishness was unacceptable. They took every single item one at a time. They had 2 movers with 2 big wooden furniture 4 wheeled moving dollies, but they only ever used one. I don't know why they couldn't go twice as fast taking 2 boxes at a time. Then to top it all off, we all left my old apartment at 1:28pm, they said they would take a lunch and meet us back at my new place in an hour. No problem. They showed up an hour later and took another ~2.5 hours to unload everything. When it came time to pay they said "oh we actually didn't take a lunch" unfortunately I wasn't there when we paid them, but they absolutely took an hour lunch and took advantage of my wife when she paid. I would not recommend using them as they are exceptionally slow, and will do everything they can to make sure your reasonable quote is not what you pay

The first mover I contacted talked a great game but in the end my spidey sense kicked in and I realized it must be a scam as he asked me several times within an hour for his deposit of $250. I later found reviews that said he took the money and never showed up. Now I'm really in trouble - as far as I knew, my parents could be released any day without much advanced warning. I went back to my Yelp reviews and decided to contact Mount Wolfe. I messaged the company and shortly heard back from Dwayne. I told him what I needed (it wasn't a huge amount of stuff - not too hard of a local move.) He gave me a quote almost immediately and it was a firm set price. The price included what most movers charged extra for - tax, mileage, fuel surcharge and many more items that could take a reasonable rate into something sky high. We added a few pieces to my original inventory list and let Dwayne know, expecting an increase in price. Once again, Dwayne reiterated that this is a flat rate. We finally had a tentative release date, by now we were only a few days out. Dwayne was so very flexible for us. Then we found out there was a move in "window" that we had to fall into. Once again, Dwayne changed our time to fit our schedule. In fact, the day of, they even came earlier to make sure we met the window. They arrived in a big uhaul which made us a little quizzical but if you think about over head costs, for a small business, it might be a more cost effective way of controlling overhead. Whatever, it did the job. I stayed back, cleaned a little, ran a few errands and got to our drop of site. I was maybe 45 minutes behind and when I got there they were just about done emptying the truck. (They squeezed right through that window.). My brother had taken everything apart at home but all three of them got everything put back together, placed where we wanted it (with a few "maybe over there, wait, no over there..." adjustments.) And like that, the move had been made. Nothing broken, scratched or missing. All the wrapping undone and taken away. Just like Dwayne promised, nothing additional. No surprises. Though it was by far the smallest move I've ever overseen, it was by a stretch the easiest one. I will use Mount Wolfe anytime I have to make a move. They really were the best.

He caused a 55 inch TV to almost fall on me due to another improper installation. Which caused damage to the wall. It is now May 2026 and still nothing we had originally agreed per emails and text. All he kept saying was that I cause damage to his business. Instead of taking accountability and fixing the issue. Dwayne is not to be trusted. I would never recommend anyone to hire this company to do anything. Update: I was asked by the owner Dwayne Wolfe to remove my review in order to receive my refund. It has been over 2 months now since our last email conversation. Dwayne Wolfe is not honest nor professional. I have been waiting since July 2025 to receive my refund for damages to my furniture and wall done during a move. I should have canceled the TV mount service being that I used his TV mount service before and that TV wasn't mounted correctly then. This time, I tried to give him a second chance only to have a 55inch TV almost fall on me due to another improper installation. Which caused damage to the wall. It is now February 2026 and still nothing we had originally agreed per emails and text. Original Review: Last year, I had Dwayne and his crew move me from Lancaster Pa to Manchester PA. The move was great they took very good care of my Antique furniture and other containers. So because of that I reached out to Dwayne to handle my move to Alabama with a stop on the way in Maryland to pickup my partners things. Upon arrival she was told that everything may not fit. Which was very unprofessional when there was more than enough room for her things to fit. Especially, when the truck had more than enough room if packed correctly. Once they began packing all had fit and what small things didn't go we packed in the car. As we got closer to evening Dwayne advised that he was going to get a hotel and arrive to the house in Alabama in the morning. We arrived to the house at 9am and no call, text, or email from Dwayne. We went to get breakfast still no call, text,or email. I called while at breakfast and was told by Dwayne that the helpers woke up late and they will be at the house by 12pm. Upon their arrival at 2pm (5 hours late), Dwayne called and advised they were at the house and decided to unload the truck in the driveway. As we pulled up to the house from picking up cleaning supplies and water for the guys we noticed our stuff on the driveway like it was a garage sale or something. It was so unprofessional and disappointing to see. Then, after they moved the things into the house Dwayne seemed frustrated and annoyed when I asked about him installing the TV's and assembly of the beds which was part of the agreement. He proceeded to install the bed and TV's. He seemed to struggle to install a TV wall mount and TV on the wall. Then, I went out to the hardware store to pick up more proper screws for the TV mount. Not sure what he did with the screws he removed in Manchester for the same mount. All the screws were packed and labled to make the installations smooth. But while I was gone he assembled 1 queen frame and a twin futon. When I came back they placed the TV on the wall and I looked at everything that wasn't till wrapped in plastic. They brought in the final piece of furniture. It was completely destroyed. I told them to leave it in the Garage. He decided to leave it right at the entrance of the garage door. So I had to move it to the side wall myself. He said it was fixable and its not. We went to sleep woke up the next morning sat back on the bed and the bed shifted with a loud bang. Noticed that the bed wasn't properly assembled screws missing and loose. I immediately checked everything. The twin bed was missing screws and shifting left and right. My antique coffee table was scuffed in mutiple places, dinning table scuffed, dressers scuffed, bed frame chipped and scuffed, some China plates cracked and destroyed, desk missing a part, screws checked and noticed screws were loosened and had to be tightened and the motor bar was disconnected, computer monitor mount was chipped like it was dropped on the ground. I was emailed by Dwayne to sent photos was told by email that they did their best and I would be fully compensated. I'm still waiting.

Indeed, they worked diligently and cleaned up each time they visited. The first round of work, both of them came; the second and third times, just Onya came to and she was super friendly and worked quietly while I worked in the office. I didn't paint the repairs immediately because of a lack of time, but once I did, I was disappointed with how the work turned out. I contacted Yevhenii again and sent him pictures. Communication was great and he came out to look and offered to either refund the money paid and for someone else to do the work or he (and his wife) would try again. I allowed them to come back and Onya worked for hours to redo most of the work. Again, carefully, quietly, and working with my schedule. Yevhenii came to check on things and also wanted to do some of the painting to see how the repairs looked. One area in one of the bathrooms looks pretty good but the kitchen and the other bathroom looks terrible, as evidenced by the pictures. I recontacted Yevhenii and he offered a $200 refund which I accepted. There was the original price of the job and, in consideration of the friendliness that the couple offered and the six visits they made, I felt was worth a $100 tip. In the end, I had drywall dust to clean up throughout the condo on multiple days and the results look amateurish. I'm still not sure why this is so hard to do and do reasonably well. I'm not looking for taj mahal-lile work but the pictures, I think, speak for themselves. I was especially impressed on the most recent project that included mounting of a digital photo frame. Carlos simply "wasn't having it" to mount the frame with the electrical cord showing! He had the finishing caps to cover the entry and exit holes too. Carlos and the crew also took a very personal interest in mounting my career memorabilia (22 plaques and awards!) beautifully in my home office. When he set up his tables, tools and camera to video the install I knew I was in good hands! He was helped by Khadir and another young man. They communicated well and made a great team. They arrived early (who does that? Contractors are rarely on time). He explained everything along the way, to include the parts that were missing (luckily it was only a few screws that he had in his tool box), how to work the bed, and which mattress would be the best for that bed (based on the instructions given). I am so relieved to have this project complete. I have no doubt about it being installed correctly. Great job. I'll definitely call them again if I need similar service. By the way, they also followed up with a detail list of what was missing (by part number/name) and where to find it in the manual. That made it easy for me to get replacement parts from the manufacturer. Great job Flatpack!

I had started the job myself but got an anchor screw stuck and figured I should have a pro step in so I didn't wreck my new walls. All the supplies were here, placed where they needed to be, holes were measured and marked for custom made rods and drapes. He charges by the hour and moves very, very slow. He didn't have his own step ladder or anchor screws. In the first hour, he managed to put in 3 screws in holes that had already been marked. He claimed he "needed to remeasure" and that's why it took so long, but he used the holes that I had already marked. He also said it was too hard to do with custom cut rods. He also said it wasn't his fault because I had an anchor screw stuck in the wall already, which was the whole reason I hired him. This is what pros do: they come prepared, know the required materials and techniques, and advise the customer on the best way to proceed. I knew we needed to cut it off when he asked me how to use an anchor screw. He didn't know if you needed to pre-drill or not for a very basic and common anchor. I cannot imagine a professional handyman not knowing that. He used a level to stare at the pre-marked holes for what seemed like an eternity, just eating up time. 3 screws = $200. Seems like a nice enough man, but handyman may not be the profession for him, and that's giving him the benefit of the doubt that he wasn't just trying to take advantage of someone he assumed was too naive too know how long the job should take. He became very defensive, making excuses when I said we'd need to end the job at one hour. Im sure judging by other less than 5 star reviews here (that I really wish I'd have taken the time to read) he will post a very defensive response here as well. Please just don't take a job you don't have the required expertise to complete, and I don't want to hear defensive excuses when I'm still out $200 for almost no work completed.
