Paid for moving and set up, they moved it and said they will be back to finish and replace cloth. Agreed upon date/time came and went without a call (no call no show). Chris said his house was flooded (I believed him, but I don't now) next agreed upon date/time came and went again without a call. I saw some reviews that were identical to mine. Make sure you get him to complete your task BEFORE paying him! Also, he moved this table before a couple times, since I put it together myself, I found that he pretty much loses bolts and replaces them with wrong sized ones. We hired COVER AWW to pickup a Olhausen pool table from Hartford Co, Maryland to Lake Frederick, Virginia on 4/5/2019. Chris and Fred kept us informed through their arrival, breakdown, travel, and home arrival time. Chris and Fred arrived on time and asked where we would like our table. Chris was very helpful in suggesting a better angle to the pool table, even showing, via tape measure, how this would benefit us. Afterwards, they began the process of assembling the table. Chris used a professional level, spacers, shims, staples, and bees wax(!). Chris was gracious to answer our many questions while assembling. The fine tuning portion of pool table assembly was bar none! Chris explained why some tables play poorly and how he 'tuned' our table to Olhausen standards. We learned a lot about our table, which made our decision to buy an Olhausen and choose COVER AWW for transportation and assembly a win-win! P.s. Buyer beware. Chris the owner and operator of this business is a dishonest and unprofessional businessman. I'm writing this review based on hiring Chris to install new Iwan Simonis 860 cloth on a volunteer fire department's 9-foot Brunswick Medalist Table back in February 2017. The problems began when we inspected the cloth he brought with him with a UV light for the Iwan Simonis logo that is only visible under UV light. We proceeded to ask Chris why the logo wasn't on the cloth and he told us he had never heard of that before, and assured us it was Iwan Simonis 860 cloth. Against our better judgment and ignorance we allowed Chris to proceed with the install since he, "the professional" assured us it was in fact the correct cloth that we paid hundreds extra for him to purchase. After, playing a few games on the new cloth and setup we noticed if wasn't nearly as fast or wear resistant as the previous Iwan Simonis 860 cloth we had on the table. After a few days of use the cloth was starting to loosen up and started to lint and nap, which never happen with the previous Iwan Simonis 860 cloth that was on the table for years prior. At this point we decided to contact the Iwan Simonis Corporate Office and send a sample of the cloth that Chris installed so they can verify and determine the authenticity of the cloth. As it turns out our original suspicion of this not being Iwan Simonis 860 cloth was correct and we paid hundred extra for cheap cloth. In addition to not installing the proper cloth we had a number of other issues with the quality of work that was done by Chris while setting the table back up. Rather than using wood feather strips to secure the felt to the rails he used a rubber alternative that was not the correct diameter for our table. The following month we hired a new company to put the proper cloth on the table and to fix Chris's work. When they were removing the rubber feather strips it caused unavoidable chipping and cracking of the rail finish. When Chris worked on the table we had wood feather strips holding the rail cloth in place, and when he removed the wood feather strips there was no damage to the rail finish. Also, the new company discovered the table was not truly level, and there were several loose bolts that were suppose to be holding the slate down to the bottom of the table. We noticed when Chris leveled the table he used a standard level that you can purchase at any home improvement store, but the new company had a machinists level that has a much greater degree of accuracy. We asked Chris for a refund of the services since he did not follow through on the job and specifically the Iwan Simonis 860 cloth we paid for. Since asking for a refund he stopped responding to e-mails, text messages and phone calls. read more

I called a moving company and they told me that the movers knew how to dissable pool tables so they charged me $300 extra for the pool table, unfortunately the movers didnt have any experience with disassembling pool tables so I stopped them and called Chris at Cover Aww Pool Table Services. I had a great experience with them. They were on time and had all the equipment needed to get the pool table disassembled and relocated. They were very knowledgeable and the disassembly process was quick. I will be calling them back to assemble and install the new felt once I have more space for the pool table. My existing, pretty good quality, Spalding recreational pool table was in our rec room and not used for several years during covid and a busy time in our lives. When we uncovered it recently, we found that some mice had made it their home and devastated the felt cover. Unusable. Fortunately, my wife found Chris and got him to come redo the table as a Fathers Day gift. It was miraculous - I watched Chris as he systematically disassembled the table, carefully recovered the rails (the most demanding part), refinished the slate, replaced the table felt (with better quality felt than the original), reassembled it all and finished by carefully checking level and checking/adjusting rail alignment. He topped it off with some great user advice - like putting a spare piece of felt under the cue ball when breaking, to avoid marking the felt, and using a lint remover roller, not a brush, for felt maintenance. All in just over three hours (during which he shared some great stories). It was all super professional, systematic at each step, and done with real craftmanship. The table is better than new, and we're thrilled. I know how I'll spend a good part of Fathers Day! read more

They arrived when they said they would and it took exactly as long Chris originally estimated, about 3 hours. Chris is definitely very knowledgable about pool tables. He answered every question about mine and even questions I had about other tables. He explained the features on my table and how to take care of it including some handy tricks I didnt know about. One thing I was very impressed with was how easy they made the installation seem. It took 3 hours with a break or two but they knew exactly what they were doing. Chris and his assistant worked on my Gandy table yesterday and they were nothing short of fabulous. The best word to describe Chris is "honest". I asked him for his opinion of the condition of the rails on my table and he told me that they were still working and replacement wasn't required at this time. The problem is they were very old and if I didn't replace them now, I would have to do it in a couple of years. It made no sense to save money now only to have to recover the table again when the rails had to be replaced. I elected to have him replace the rails and put on new felt. After my first phone conversation with Chris Smitherman (CS) with Cover_AWW (CAW) I should have followed my instinct and walked away. I had been recommended to him by the person I had agreed to buy the pool table from. I called CS and he said the table was junk. It had been a one piece slate that was cut into 3 to make it easier to move. As it turned out the reason CS was bashing the table is that he had gotten "his only bad Yelp review" from the guy I was buying it from. He had a problem with CS not answering or returning his calls and being unresponsive. I have experienced the exact same problem. CS runs a "cash only" business and did not take or return my calls, except for my initial call for warranty repairs, after he had my money. CS and CAW was scheduled to meet me at house I am purchasing pool table from at 3:00. I called him at 3:20 looking for an ETA. Cover AWW arrived around 3:30. CS seemed professional and knowledgeable. He had moved a table in Piscataway Maryland for his first job of the day and that was why he was late for my appointment. When he was disassembling the table he was lying on the floor and throwing large bolts onto the table felt. I thought that was odd, but I figured that CS knew what he was doing. When we got to my house CS went to assembling my table. Once again he seemed like a knowledgeable professional during the set up and leveling process. When he put the felt back on he noticed a tear in the felt. The tear was not there when I purchased the table and I am pretty sure CS checked out the felt before taking the table apart. To CAWs credit CS replaced the table felt at no charge. I felt bad for a small businessman and gave him an additional $40.00 to help him with the cost of the felt. He said that the felt kit including the bumper felt cost $120.00. CAW would not have replaced the felt at no cost if he did not know he had torn it. CS replaced the felt, and in retrospect, seemed to rush the process of installing the bumpers and pocket liners. It was getting late on a Saturday night and his profit margin was lower because he had to replace the felt. To be clear, the torn felt was entirely due to the move. The following Wednesday I called CW to tell him that I had played on the table for a few days and that the bumpers did not seem aligned properly and the pocket liners were not installed properly. I remember that they were installed originally with screws and Chris re-installed them with nails. The alignment of the liners is off by ¼ inch off center on a few pockets (see attached photos). CS said that he would come by the next night to make it right. Thursday night CAW was scheduled to come make adjustments at 8:00 PM. I called at 8:10 left message stating that if he was on his way, come on. If he was not on his way yet, call to reschedule. Friday did not hear from CAW. Called. Went to voicemail. Left another message. Saturday still had not heard from CAW. Called. Went to voicemail. Left another message. Monday I called from a different cell phone. CS from CAW answered the phone. Chris said that he had left Thursday, the day he had scheduled to come to my house and taken the family to Orlando. His cell phone had "died". He told me he would be available to come by the next Monday. I was to text him that morning to remind him about coming by that evening. Monday morning I texted CS, as requested, and asked him for an ETA. I arrived home at 6:00 PM. I had not heard from Chris from Cover AWW. I called him and........got his voicemail. I left message. 7:10 PM still no response. I called him and left a message. He texted me that he was "still in Virginia, and he was running late". He had left his phone in the truck. This was the last time I heard anything from CS of CAW. I have made several more calls It seems like he sees my number and does not answer. Maybe his phone has "died" again. CS has my money. I have no reason to expect to hear back from CS. I decided to fix the problem myself. Aligning the bumpers and squaring them up was not rocket science. I did not like having to do the work I paid a professional to do, but it is done now and my table plays much better. I would never use this company again, or recommend to anyone. When I upgrade to a better table in the future, I will not refer the buyer to CAW. I will specify that they cannot use CAW to move the table. CAW will not be allowed in my home. read more

Things to know from my installation: - There are many colors of felt available, if you are replacing the felt; however, make sure you provide the right table size. I thought my table was 8ft and it ended up being 8.5ft. Thankfully, Chris was able to stretch the felt to fit. - Setting up a pool table takes a bit of time, I think in all it took them about three hours to fully set mine up. - Chris will bring someone to help transport the pool table and set it up - Pool tables weigh close to 1,000lbs, don't try moving one yourself, hire an expert. - I am very much a handyman and do most of my work myself. However, in watching Chris setup this pool table I realized it would have taken me days to set it up and I would have made many mistakes. First, let me emphasize that NO ONE should attempt a pool table move without professionals. It is NOWHERE near as easy as everyone thinks, and you can destroy an expensive investment attempting to move one by yourself. If you're looking for a GREAT professional, look no further than Chris and the guys at Cover Aww. I purchased a beautiful used table 80 miles from my home. I called numerous professionals and Cover Aww came with the best price, by far. In addition to the price, Chris and his team were as professional as it gets. They arrived to the pick-up location at the time we scheduled and after a 10 second look at the table, they began to break the table down. It was a thing of beauty to watch them work. Their knowledge of the table was impressive, especially since I don't even remember telling Chris the brand and model of the table on our initial consultation call (I may have, but I don't remember disclosing that info). Once the table was broken down and loaded into their van, they promptly met me at my home (80 miles away), and after a quick survey of the area, they brought the pieces into the house and meticulously reassembled the table to perfection. And when I say perfection, I mean PERFECTION. They leveled the table over 30 times to make sure it was perfect. Prior to reassembly, Chris measured the area and provided expert advice on positioning of the table, instead of simply positioning it according to my original, uninformed vision, which WOULD NOT have given me optimal playing space in the room. I was extremely thankful for that advice. After reassembly, Chris and his partner took an extra 10 minutes to explain to me how to care for the pool table, their warranty, and other services that are available to me through their company. I will re-felt this table within a year and there is NO DOUBT that Cover Aww is who will be doing the work. I suggest that for all your pool table services needs, you call them as well.
