Lacamas lake and the surrounding trails are awesome! There is a small parking lot or an overflow parking lot available and both make it easy to access the lake and trail. We did the round lake loop trail that is about 1.5 miles round trip. It is relatively flat with a few inclines and declines. We saw families using strollers on parts of the trail. The trail is shaded for almost the entire route. The trail is well maintained and clean. The trails are clearly marked and the signs are easy to see. There's bathrooms and a playground for kids. We saw a lot of people using kayaks in the lake. There's also picnic tables and benches to use. This is a great option for any age and ability. It's beautiful and green. I highly recommend Lacamas Lake for those who want to enjoy the greenery and beauty of Washington. read more

Love this lake! There are three parking lots available, two on the smaller side. There are restrooms available during summer months. This park is very lush with picnic tables and grills spread out for privacy. The view of the lake is gorgeous! There are over 6 miles of trails, some of which intertwine. If you're new to these trails, a map is a good idea; one could easily get lost if not familiar as the trails aren't all marked. I just took a picture of the trail map by the parking area to have as reference in case I needed it. The trails are lush and mainly dirt and rocks. If you walk down to lower falls the trail can be a little more treacherous. Some of the hills are steep and some rocks loose. Make sure you wear the proper footwear. There are a few falls to see, many creeks, a dam and a couple lakes (Lacamas and Round). Overall a wonderful place to get outside for fresh air and beautiful scenery. Highly recommend. read more

I'm writing specifically about the Heritage Trail (about 3.5 miles long) that runs along the west side of Lacamas Lake. For the sake of clarity, Lacamas Lake connects with Round Lake, just across the road to the east. Round Lake has a trail system that extends to the south, and it is the one with waterfalls and, as you move away from the lake, more challenging terrain. Heritage Trail at Lacamas Lake itself is very different - it's a gravel infused, wide, well-mainained, mostly flat trail that rarely gets more than 50 feet or so away from the shore of the lake. A nice drainage/culvert system along the inland side of the trail allows water coming downhill to pass under the trail and make it directly to the lake without any of it running across the trail itself. All in all, this is a place where visitors can concentrate on the scenery without worrying about twisting an ankle on rocks or roots. There are enough trees between the trail and the lake to provide places for wildlife to gather, and to tease hikers with ever so slightly obstructed views of what's happening on the lake. Across the water, the road on the east side of the lake seems to attract people who own intentionally loud vehicles, so be prepared for the bucolic mood to be broken regularly. If you are walking south on a clear day, Mt Hood will jump out at you on multiple occasions. If you are walking north from Heritage Park, you will have to walk about a mile before the mountain will become visible when you look back over your shoulder. read more

Leaving a 2nd review...This time my sister and I explored more of the trails. It was super muddy at certain areas but well worth exploring. I wouldn't say the trails we trekked were easy, but slightly challenging for someone who doesn't hike often. There were ups and downs, you'll be sure to get a good leg workout. We looped all the way around and to woodburn falls. Beautiful place to check out. My favorite is being still listening to the birds chirp away. read more

I fish this lake a lot. I have to be out early before the kayakers and stand up boards take over. They go right over my lines without regard. Best time for me is December through April as the lake is quiet. Trout fishing is good then. Summer time I fish for panfish and catch a bunch some days. It's a neat lake. Before they put sidewalks by Lacamas Lodge, I fished with two older men pushing 90 that could park by the dock. Not now. The upgrades made it impossible for them to walk far. Too bad. Now that we've visiting here a few times and have time to explore all the various trails, I am upping them a star to 5-star status! There are a few Yelp listings for the same general park/lake/trail...a Lacamas Lake listing, Lacamas Park listing and a trail listing. Nice lake & park with a couple of different trails for hiking and even some small waterfalls. One trail is 1.2 miles & goes around the smaller portion of the lake. The trails, for the most part, are not paved so if it has rained recently you will encounter mud. The trail around the lake has several small inclines and dips on the uneven earthen path. All easy hikes but something to keep in mind if you have little ones with you or someone with limited mobility. There is a small playground area, picnic tables and a grill near the parking lot. There are also restroom facilities but when we visited on March 23 there was a sign that said the restrooms were closed for the season (I'm assuming Winter since Spring had just started) so I'm not sure when those reopen again. We saw some folks fishing along the shore and kayaking, canoeing & paddle boarding are allowed. There is a kayak rental place across the street. The parking lot is somewhat small considering the size of the park area but I did see a sign for overflow parking down the road. We walked by the overflow lot while hiking around and it is another small lot. Some folks choose to park along the road and walk over. Expect it to be busy when the weather is nice out during Spring, Summer & Autumn on the weekends, but well worth it. Come early to beat the crowds! read more

Outstanding hike with easy access for a variety of hikers. The views are a great payoff for easy walking, and the parking is ample and just off the main road. The bathrooms are locked in the winter months, but the portable toilets are clean. We had good encounters with leashed dogs and a clean trail. And we will be back for more fun. read more

I absolutely adore Lacamas Lake. I am so fortunate to live about a .50 mile walk so I am here very often. These days in the summer, it's just about everyday. I love how inviting the lake is. Not just the beautiful appearance of it, but also the features available - the long trail along the west side, the dock, the kayak and SUP rentals, park and playground, as well as Heritage Park and Round Lake that connect right next to it! I run the trail by the lake 2-3 times a week and it never gets old. I can't recommend Lacamas Lake enough, though it's getting pretty popular these days! read more

I live next to Lacamas Lake and walk my dog frequently on the trails year round. It's gravel but does get a little muddy on rainy days. It's a good paddling lake and when the water is low, you can paddle underneath the bridge between the 2 lakes. They rent kayaks and SUP's at Heritage Park in the summer. There are 2 boat launches on Lacamas Lake. It's a great place for a picnic and there is a really nice kid play area at Lacamas Park. Nearby eateries include Lakeside Chalet, Top Burger and Camas Meadows. The lakes unfortunately suffer from plant overgrowth due to run off from agricultural areas. They partially drain the lake every fall to help control plant growth. The plant overgrowth unfortunately deplete the oxygen in the water and decrease the water clarity making it a poor fishing lake with the exception of small panfish and perch in the summer, catfish summer and fall and trout in April to May. There is a very large sturgeon which hangs out at the northwest end of Lacamas Lake. I saw it breach on one of my kayak trips. More info on the trails is shown below. There are 2 main lakes (Lacamas Lake, Round Lake), 2 main parks (Heritage Park and Lacamas Park) and 2 main trail systems (Heritage Trail, Lacamas Park Trail). Ironically, Lacamas Park and the Lacamas Park Trail are on Round Lake. Heritage Park and the Heritage Trail are on Lacamas Lake. WTF, pretty confusing. The Heritage Trail is an easy flat 7 miles in and out on the south side Lacamas Lake. Who doesn't love a neighborhood lake? Nestled on the outskirts of Camas lies this cool little gem. I have been coming here for years since I was in college. The location is near Vancouver and easy to get to from the Oregon side of things. There are a few hiking trails here that go around the lake and the areas around it. There is a cool park also with playground for the kiddos. Parking can be limited so I would try and avoid this during peak hours. However, you can always park further down and walk to the lake/ park. There is a trail that goes around the bigger portion of the lake. It is a nice little easy to hike trail with a few little hills to climb here and there. At the end though the trail leads into a sidewalk/ street. There is some good views of the lake while you are hiking around it and a little forested area. The dam is really cool and leads down to some good swimming holes at the bottom. There are some cool spots to soak your feet down there too. The park is equipped with a bathrooms and a kids playground with swings and a slide. I do see quite a few people on the water on their inflatable boats and kayaks. The fishing here is pretty fun too. There is Blue Gill and Crappie. You can finish at the dam and also on the other side of the park. The fishes aren't too big, but its fun for the kids and entire family. Don't forget your fishing license. Overall, this is a great little recreational area, whether you like a little bit of hiking or just want to sit by the lake. There is a neat little playground for kids and a bathroom. Parking is also free! read more

Came to walk here on this holiday, ended up being an actual hike. We hiked for 2 hours. We hiked to I think Lower Falls, where it was a dead end, we could of went across and went up a steep incline, but it was way way too dangerous. I would definitely where hiking shoes. Some of the trail can be steep in certain places and since it rained, it was slippery and muddy in certain parts, definitely bring water, lol we stupidly forgot ours. Great customer service! They had snacks, drinks, fishing gear (for children too) and some floaties! A lot more than that too. It's a good variety that meets the basic needs of those going to the lake for a day, and a nice place to stop for a snack or drink after/before a run. read more

This is my favorite place to kayak, especially when the water lilies are in bloom. The little island to kayak around and the wildlife makes it a winner too. You're guaranteed to see some heron and on our last trip we saw a bald eagle. The kayak launch dock is helpful for getting in and out, especially with our four year old. After a morning of kayaking, we play at the playground and have lunch while Papa loads up the kayaks. read more

All the people who gave this place a good review have never been to a beautiful lake..and wasted my only day off since July 4th! What a serious dump.. literally. There was trash all over the place and all in the water. Toilet paper, and dog poop right on the trail.. may have even been human poop, would not suprise me. We went down off the trail where the dam was with the small pools that had brown foam and trash swirling around in it.. and people were swimming!! Hello people, brown foam means chemicals! We headed down a little further to see what else was down there.. all we saw was beer cans, soda cans, wrappers..and this weird white algae that looked like vomit on the rocks that had no flow of water.. I am still researching it and have yet to find anything that compares to it. I personally have never seen it in a river, and I grew up fishing rivers all over Washington. It was creepy. I reccomend to everyone who researches the lakes they swim at to not go here. It is scary that they allow people to be there in that waste water. read more
