Anything over 30' wouldn't fit on most of the sites. Well kept campground with fire pit, grill and picnic table. Level and wooded. Can definitely tell it was built when longer RV's were just a dream! We didn't get any pictures here because it rained the entire time we were there. Enjoyed the quiet! We camped here September 20-23, 2021. Site #329. We never had any contact with any of the staff here. The park office was closed both times we tried to visit. We did have contact with the camp host for having our dogs off leash while we got them out of the Jeep and in to the camper. I thought this was a little extreme especially since we were the only camper at that end of the campground and it was for less than a minute. Extreme. Highly Recommend if you are tent camping or less than 30 feet long.

There is a separate…read moreoffice/cabin about a 3 min drive from the boat launch area for you to get a license for your boats, kayaks, etc. There are picnic tables/shelters, areas to barbecue, a playground, and beach area. During summers, these areas can get really busy so I suggest coming early to claim a table/shelter. The 5 mile trail around the lake is mostly flat, a great walk for any age. My family and I also enjoy picking blueberries from the bushes that line the lake. September is when the fall foliage begins to come out but I would wait a bit longer before seeing the beautiful changing leaves!

Note near the parking lot 3 there's a trailhead with a quest book, it's sweet to leave some memories there. The trails are well marked but some are quite steep, be aware of the elevation changes. There's beautiful lookouts and the view from the top is pristine. Many places to just sit, enjoy and meditate. Only sometimes there's mindless people blasting loud music, but luckily most times you can enjoy the nature in silence at the mountain top. Tip: download a map from the park website before hitting the trails, it will help you greatly to locate yourself while hiking.

It's a great cardio workout. We climb up trail stairs and down. We go up some hills and down. It really depends on the direction you decide to take. Fall is my favorite time of year to come here when the weather is a bit cooler and there is not as much people around. The trails in this this park is very clearly marked and you can see trails that were created by the parks department plus some that were created by people who wanted to adventure off the regular trails. There are some very very small caves if you look around hard enough. I see them take a quick peek and I am on my way. I am not that adventurous, lol. This is definitely a fantastic place to visit if you are in the area. Just a couple of things to remember. Bug spray is your friend. Spray yourself, ticks are not fun and also be careful when running your hands on the wooden handrails because there may be splinters. I now take tweezers with me just in case splinters or ticks but this park is still a fantastic place to visit.

The address in the tour book took us to a closed,…read moreprivate road, and it's a windy two lane road with no shoulder, so it was also hard to find a place to turn around. There is a bit of a pull off area, and there is a restroom, but when I went off season (warm but not declared in season) it was locked. So mileage may vary on its usefulness. Luckily, if your eagle eyes spot the pullover parking lot, the falls are a pretty short walk. I recommend taking the path to the right to the top of the falls so you can then move down the steep incline instead of going up. The view from the bottom is very pretty. It's a good view and only needs like 20 minutes tops of your time. It was quite doable for my senior mother, but some parts were very slow moving. She enjoyed it, so it does still work for beginners as long as it's not been raining. Would recommend stopping by if you like seeing waterfalls. It's the tallest in the state and very scenic.

The entire trail is comprised by a flat gravel path and foot bridges, and the entire trail offers wonderful views of the lake, the lodge, and some huge private residences abutting the lake. The Lake Trail is 2.1 miles and closely follows the shoreline of Mountain Lake, if you include the path to and from the lodge. We'd walk this every day if we lived here.

There's a tiny bridge as well as a very iffy hike alongside. I had my deaf and blind dog along with me so I couldn't do too much as I was afraid he'd fall down the side into the river. I hear that just past this parking area there's a beach? That should be cool. I'm actually on my way back there this morning to check it out. Bring water and bug spray cause I can only imagine the mosquitos, etc., that are there in late Spring and during Summertime. Enjoy!! Happy hiking.

I stayed in the organized group camping area and loved how the sites that we booked allowed for plenty of tents to spread out within your group. We stayed in J, K and L. Last year there were porter potties and this year there was a bathhouse. Sadly there were no showers, the family bathroom was locked all weekend, and maintence getting to the bathroom was not good. Wehad to walk through a field of knee high grass to get there. During peak tick season, this was not ideal. Lastly, quiet hours apparently do not exist this is area of camping. Groups around us were chanting and singing before 5am and had an intense volleyball match at 6am. Boyscotts camped near us and were up late screaming until 12am. There needs to be more ranger presence, this truly altered our experience. The state park itself has great hiking and swimming area but the organized group sites were very mismanaged.

The lake is stocked every year with trout and there are plenty of bass, crappies, and pan fish as well. I think boat rentals are about $20/hr. There are plenty of trails but they aren't maintained that well which is actually how I like it. Gives you somewhat of a challenge. Alcohol isn't allowed in PA state parks but if you need to wet your whistle, The Dutchman Tavern is right on Rt. 507 of you go north and Hammerjax Bar and Grill is on the end of Phillps Road about 1 mile from the park.
