Came in here in desperate need of a breast pump and got so much more help and information than I ever could have expected. You definitely aren't going to get service like this at Target or Babies R Us, and with all the other decisions moms need to make, the owners of Lactation Station make it easy for us. They rent hospital-grade pumps for about $75/month (and you purchase your own parts for about $60) so I initially thought I'd do that but Carrie (one of the owners and a certified lactation consultant) suggested purchasing a single-user pump for between $89-$160. They even let you try them out (and clean everything for you) in private rooms that lock so you can decide if you like them in comfort and privacy - who does that?? (There is a $20 fee for trying them out that you can use as a credit if you purchase a pump.) Carrie made me feel comfortable and well taken care of while navigating the confusing and stressful mechanics of nursing a baby. Stephen, her husband, repairs and services the pumps, and he knows everything about how they work, which ones have the best motors, etc. They gave me honest feedback about the different kind of pumps and I never felt like they were being sneaky about up-selling. The store also has a large selection of nursing bras (which they expertly fit you for and have sizes between 32A-48K), tanks and nightgowns, all other nursing paraphernalia (like nursing pads, etc.), bottles and some feeding supplies, a small section of cute newborn clothing, and nursing pillows. It's a little awkward to see her husband Stephen bustling back and forth in the store - plus other customers' husbands as well - if you're at all skittish about nursing but everything is clean and discreet - there are separate rooms for nursing, trying out the pumps, and a restroom for diaper changes, chairs for a spouse waiting with you plus a small play area in the back for your older kids you might bring with you. Best of all, they have a master list of the insurance companies and what is covered, and even though my insurance company's customer service told me I was only covered for a manual pump, the owners of Lactation Station referred me to ANOTHER STORE so I could get a free double-electric. Stephen and Carrie gave up my business for the good of the customer (me). Who does that anymore?? I am extremely impressed and wanted to buy the pump from them anyway, just to support their business, but had to go and get my free pump. (And I successfully got it at the other place so saved a ton of money.) I would refer anyone to them for their customer service and expertise, and will happily shop here for any other nursing/baby needs. read more

My fiance was having problems getting any progress with our pump at home. We came in and saw Carrie, she was absolutely amazing. Helped my fíance with all the support and information she needed. We are so much better off with the pump we rented and our baby is much more satisfied with what she's getting and we couldn't be happier. I rented a breast pump from Lactation Station for approximately 6 months after my son was born. When I initially rented the pump, the experience was painful. The man helping me literally left mid-sale to go pick up his food at Crown Burger and no one could help me, so I waited for 20 minutes. When he returned, a woman was being helped and the other worker was renting the pump promised to me, so he told her she couldn't have it because it was mine, creating a very awkward situation for the two of us as customers. They ultimately let me have it since I am a working mom, but I apologized up and down to the other momma. I paid $80/month for a portable, hospital grade pump. It was in great condition and I called monthly and they charged my card on file. The return process was much easier than the rental process. I will be back to rent again with baby #2, but only because there is no where else to go. The store is overpriced, and you can get most items they sell somewhere else for a lower price. They have odd hours, which I found inconvenient as I don't normally expect a store to be closed on a Wednesday. read more

Great spot for mamas! They have all kinds of breast pumps, parts, bras, and other mama accessories. Most of their items are items that aren't available for purchase in other store, like backflow protectors, flanges, etc. They stock all the items you ordinarily have to order online, so they're perfect for when you need to replace a part ASAP! Absolutely love the lactation station. Carie has been wonderful to work with, she dropped off a hospital grade pump the same day we called, and answered all our questions, and provided additional resources for breastfeeding. Renewing the pump rental is super easy too, you can sign up to do automatic payments, or just call. Took me less than 3 minutes to rent the pump again for another month. I was referred here for a nursing shirt and arrived, with a hungry baby, to find nursing rooms and a comfy chair for my husband to sit and wait in (outside the private room). The woman working that day helped me to not only find a great nursing tank top with a built in bra, but showed me an incredible selection of nursing bras. She took one look at me and chose the correct size and had me try on about 15 different bras, taking my critiques of one and honing her search. This was a great stop on our trip, and I only wish it was closer to home! read more

We stumbled upon this place late in my wife's pregnancy, but man were we lucky to do so. The couple that owns and runs the place are awesome. The woman is a certified lactation consultant and helped my wife through so many different problems. She is very knowledgeable and so kind. She spends time with you so that you understand everything and thinks of all the the things that you don't. For example, not to waste money on those breastfeeding pillows if you are having a csection since it is painful to sit on your stomach. Her husband has also been a huge help to us in helping us navigate our insurance to get a breast pump. He knew exactly who to call and what to ask for. He even gave me his personal number if I had any more problems. It is a small store and sometimes there can be a wait for service, but the wait is well worth it. read more

After looking everywhere for a decent nursing bra- I finally found not one but two! I love this place, toys for the older kids, nursing station and changing station for the younger kids, and Carrie the lactation consultant is very knowledgeable and makes you feel comfortable. To top it off, I ordered a bra that was out of stock and when she found out my home address, instead of shipping it she offered to drop it off personally (she happened to live nearby). I called these guys to see if by any chance they rented what are traditionally single-user pumps (like the Medela Pump-in-style). I would really like to try before I buy. Not only did the man who answered the phone interrupt me, he spoke to me like I was a total idiot. He was more of a know-it-all than an expert. After getting off the phone, I'm glad I didn't waste my time driving down to their store. When I do buy a pump, I'll get it somewhere else. read more

My wife and I are first time parents, unfortunately the pump we received through our insurance is sad to say it lightly. We were told we should rent a pump and I found Lactation Station through Google. We rented a pump from them along with purchasing some other items like a Medela kit and a few hands free nursing bras. This has made a night and day difference for my wife! The owners of this store Carrie and her husband are also so amazing, they spent a lot of time with us explaining things and provided expert advice. Lactation station is a necessary evil. They are the only ones I'm aware of that fulfill this niche market in Salt Lake and I wish there were other options. I absolutely hate going there. I have never left the store in under a half an hour, even when I am the only customer. This is not because they go to great lengths to serve me. Rather, I have to sit around and wait without my presence even being acknowledged. Twice, they haven't even been open even though I went during their stated business hours. A husband and wife run this store. The husband is incompetent. The wife knows her stuff, but she acts like her bras are the only bras available even when they don't fit correctly. I've found bras my correct size from the same manufacturer she carries. They don't let you try on bras without their supervision, so you have to sit around and wait until they see fit to wait on you. read more

I was having issues nursing my 3 week old baby so my midwife referred me here to talk with a lactation specialist. They have weird hours so make sure they're open before you go. I tried calling a couple times before I drove there but no one answered. Anyway I'm so glad I just went there because the lactation specialist was so helpful. There's a guy (I think it's her husband) that runs the cash register (which is a little weird) but she's great! I didn't end up buying anything but paid $5 for a quick assessment. She recommended a couple of doctors and other places on the community to follow up with (my baby is lip tied and tongue tied). I'm so glad I went. I gave them 4 stars because their items for sale are kind of pricey but other than that it was a great visit! read more

Not only were they not open at the time advertised and lost two other patrons while I sat there and waited at the closed store, the gentleman that assisted me actually argued with me multiple times about what I was looking for. I had a list printed out from the Lansinoh website, with prices, for all of the pieces I wanted to replace. He argued with me that Lansinoh did not sell replacement products, that I had an older pump than I thought (doesn't a working mom know her pump intimately after using it 3 times a day for over a year?) and I also know how old my first child is (and thus, when I purchased the pump!), and finally, argued with me about why I wanted certain parts replaced. Not to mention that their pack was almost $60 and the Lansinoh site had everything for $35 plus shipping. I was only trying to support local merchants and save $9.00 in shipping but was very frustrated, especially since I called the day before and "confirmed" that they carried these items! I have no doubt the lady in there is competent and helpful but her husband needs some basic sales training!! read more
