We ordered a box of 8 containing different flavors, and honestly they were all some of the best macaroons we have had! We thoroughly enjoyed each of them, and it was very difficult for us to pick a favorite. I highly recommend stopping into any of their locations when your in Europe, as you will definitely not be disappointed! Can you say decadent! From the amazing gold cave-like store to the case of colorful macarons to the beautiful boxes and the taste....oh the taste of these sinfully delectable little pieces of heaven! The boys and I stopped to visit my colleagues at the HSBC private bank on Cork Street and after decided to walk through to Piccadilly. Just before you reach the end of the glass enclosed fancy shops was Laduree and of course, we checked it out. We had a great time looking at the amazing flavors in the case and deciding which ones to sample. Jakes picks were the chocolate covered hazelnut and cotton candy, I selected the chocolate dipped lemon, the violet berry and strawberry vanilla and Aidan chose the lemon, raspberry and peanut butter. We sampled them and enjoyed every bit of the light and fluffy macarons each with a distinct flavor which tickled our tastebuds. I love Ladureé. This location is very small, narrow tiny store. They have two tables outside if you want to sit and eat. It's a bit uncomfortable to sit there. I was having coffee and an eclair while people passing by wanted to take pictures of the store, which I was in the way. They would lean over my table and my food/coffee to take a look inside. Arrgghh! This oasis of French patisserie perfection is the closest challenge I will receive to abandoning my Chinese thrift gene. Those of you who read my reviews may have seen that I've marked places down for what I consider unreasonable costs despite the products being good - step forward, Krispy Kreme and cupcakes in general. However, in tasting what I consider the pinnacle of macarons London, the perfection of flavour combined with the crunch of the crust and the slightly gooey filling makes me want to avert my head from the price tag. At 3.50 for a large macaron (though it's cheaper if you buy them in bulk), I can't help thinking that I could get a main course in one of the cheaper restaurants in nearby Chinatown. Laduree stick to traditional flavours in that French egalitarian spirit and you will get traditional French elegance in service and packaging. However, at that price, just make sure that you and the loved ones (you wouldn't get these for anyone but!) you buy these macarons for, do savour every bite slowly! I honestly didn't really understand all of the hype of Laduree, but felt like since I was in Europe and this store practically threw itself at me when I came into this area, I should come for a visit. I think I'm the only person who thinks this because when I walked in, there were only 2 people in front of me, and this place is sooo tight that only maybe 4 people could fit into the store at any one time. When I was leaving, there was about a line of 10 people, out the door, and around the small corner. Wow! This place is cute, has a nice feel to it, but is very, very expensive. You can't take pictures, supposedly inside, but I am looking from the Yelp listing that nobody paid attention to that sign. They also have little charms and other things completely unrelated to macarons that you can purchase ... and specialty boxes, not the regular ones they give out "for free" as part of your purchase, which cost even more than the macarons! This lady in front of me, as I was obsessing over her PS1 bag, ordered up a few key chains, many specialty boxes, and a large box of 24 macarons at the amazing cost of almost 300 gbp!! I nearly fell over. Imagine that! This is a cute store though, and if you come by for a snack, they're not as sweet as the Americanized ones everyone obsesses over in the US. read more

Everything works in this small, French Aladdin's cave of a sweet shop, the golden walls, the lovely macaroons, and the beautiful little boxes to take them away in. I was debating whether to give this three or four stars. I gave it three with a nod to authenticity. The macaroons are lovely but they are made in London so they can't be 100 per cent like the ones made in Paris. That's like expecting Mexican food in London to be the same as it is in East LA, or in Mexico. The water is different, so the food is different. It's as simple as that. read more

Well I'm just going to say what everyone else is saying: this place is absolutely worth the visit. The 5 macarons we had from Laduree supercede just about any rendition I've ever had in San Francisco. And it wasn't like it was even close. I tried the pistachio (a personal favorite of mine from a time when someone brought Laduree macarons back from Paris), Salted Caramel, and half of the Vanilla. Greg had the raspberry rendition, in addition to the chocolate. If you need to take away, the conveniently have little boxes on hand so you can pack an order of 12 away. Amazing what can be achieved with 100 sq feet. A beautiful little shop, tucked away, and oozing in decadence and elegance. A wonderful selection of flavours, in particular the pistachio, and all sweet and light. We were lucky to get one of the tables outside, and were presented with china cups for our tea. One of my friends had the hot chocolate which I kid you not, was literally thick melted chocolate. A little on the pricey side so would consider as a treat but worth every single penny. read more

My absolute favourite flavours are Salted Caramel, Pistachio and Vanilla. They are outstanding and cannot be beat! I've had a few purchases taste a few days old on the day I purchased them, but I suppose this is depending on what day they were shipped in from Paris. Some wonderful friends bought me a mixed box (not knowing I only really love the above flavours) and let me just say - buyer be warned. Some of the flavours taste like eating soap. It's nothing agains the quality and perfection of these macarons, I just don't like the flavours. Oh, and I never buy the chocolate flavoured macarons - Jean-Paul Hévin's are infinitely better. Faster than the Eurostar in transporting you to the incomparable patisserie scene of France is Ladurée in the Burlington Arcade near Picadilly. You can't walk past this place and not get hypnotized by the gilded window with its display of impressive pastel boxes and multi-coloured macaroons - like a showcase of edible gemstones that bewitch you and lure you inside. The shop itself could be compared to Ali Baba's cave where literally everything glitters... or perhaps it is more likely that King Midas is the one who turned all the walls and display-case accents to gold - with only the jewel-toned macaroons left untouched - as if they were worth more to him left alone. And believe me, they are certainly worth they're wait in gold. A delicate crisp layer outside that you savor in the moments before you reach the sensuous filling: raspberry, pistachio, chocolate, chestnut... the vibrancy of the tempting flavours goes on and on. Laduree is a French institution for macaroons; you simply cannot go anywhere else to try those amazing little cakes, soft on the inside and crunchy on the outside, wih incredible flavours. So I was kind of excited to discover that Laduree had crossed the channel... Their outlet on Burlington Arcade is just........weird! Maybe the person in charge of decoration is having a nervous breakdown? The whole tiny store is decked out in gold foil - which makes it look really cheap and nasty. My visit to London, Paris and midtown New York is not complete without going to the Laduree. This one is located at one end of the Burlington Arcade, this small macaroon and dessert place in simply lovely. The walls are all golden and the display of macaroons and desserts is just a feast to the eyes. Excellent selection - was told they would last four days in the fridge, but if you can get them to a freezer, they freeze beautifully and thaw in a matter of minutes. My favorites are the rose and violet, pistachios and the salted caramel. There are always some whacky flavor names for new macaroons - I have tried so many of them over the course of the years and always love them - they are just bursting with flavors and are so soft and fresh and just melt in your mouth. You can get them boxed up and they have different size boxes depending on the number you get. Prices vary from £1.85- £2.45 each. Expensive but absolute worth it. They also have several other pastries and chocolates along with a variety of hot drinks. Seating wise they only have two tables outside which as expected are mostly occupied. I was lucky this time as I went in the morning hours and got an empty one to sit and enjoy the macaroons with café latte. Coffee was warm and strong - perfect. You order inside and get seated, they bring out the order on the table. It was served on their beautiful violet and gold lined plates and cups. Everything is so lovely. They also have variety of biscuits, nougats, tea selection. I got some biscuits and nougat bars for gifts back home - got the feedback that they were just wonderful. But your supercilious, utterly obnoxious wait staff completely destroyed the experience for us. My daughter's attempt to engage with her beautiful French fell on deaf ears. We walked away feeling as though we were a burden rather than a valued customer. To add injury to, quite literally insult, your macaroons were...at best...meh. Good luck. You'll need it! Macarons are expensive but the flavor is intense, meaning I was satisfied with just the two I ordered, raspberry and coffee. Well I have to give these guys major cross-continental props! Though my experience online was far from a 2013 affair, the personal interaction with Laduree employees far exceeds the average retailer. I ordered macaroons as a gift for a friend in California, believing that the best I could get from the site was delivery to London for the bakery in Paris. I eventually came to terms with this and ordered the gift online. A few days later I received a call for a very nice French man informing me my order was ready at their Paris store. Well as much as I would love to have collected my order, I unfortunately needed them in London. After a bit of clarification and flexibility the Parisian employee said to simply inform one of the London locations of my order, demonstrable with a receipt, and they would fulfill the order. OK, well now I have to expose myself to mounds of macaroons by having to actually go to a store to collect my order. But when I arrived at their Piccadilly location, though the store was heaving with customers, the staff were calm and polite and quickly dealt with their customers. When I explained my situation, the employee said it wasn't standard practice, but would be happy to accommodate me after taking a few details. I was in and out of there in a few minutes. THEN, to top things off, I received a call from another very nice employee from their Paris store asking me if everything went OK, was I able to collect my order, did I need anything else... thank you for your follow up and for asking Laduree. When in London, I much prefer coming to this location than to Harrods if I only want macaroons and don't fancy a sit-down. There is still the usual waiting line, but shorter. The flavours I like -- caramel with salted butter, bergamot, rose, bitter chocolate, red fruits, raspberry, pistachio, violet, and chestnut when it's in season. They travel well. (of course, fresh is the best.) I usually get a box on the last day of my trip and bring it back for family or friends. Some freshness is lost during the transatlantic travel, but what you get is still much better than local pâtisserie attempts. read more

It's a really small shop in a fancy area. You'll notice the interior looks like a molten gold lava cave. It's a very convenient location right by Piccadilly Circus. There's one line to pick your macarons and another line going the other direction to pay for them. Then there's the door that opens inwards so be prepared to shuffle around once you're in. They only take cash so bring it. The macarons are 1.90 each and you can get them in a bag or they have gift boxes in 3 sizes. We tried 6 of them: Yuzu Ginger, Marie Antoinette (Tea), Rose, Strawberry Marshmallow, Pistachio, and Orange Blossom. There wasn't too much of a line and we dropped by a nearby coffee shop to enjoy our treats. I am generally not a sweets person, but I do believe these to be the best macarons I've tried thus far. They're not overly sweet and each one had the distinct flavor. I actually enjoyed the Yuzu Ginger quite a bit. There's a tartness to it then a slow heat from the ginger. I adore the Ladurée shops in Paris. There are four Ladurée locations in London. The Laudurée Burlington Arcade boutique is small but it has a very unique gold interior. This shop is open until 20:00 Monday-Saturday's and it is also open on Sundays. Ladurée began in 1862 and they are still going strong with their perfect macarons made with delicious ganache filling. This is probably the most expensive dessert place I've ever bought stuff from. £10 for a box of 8 mini macarons? Okay, I guess that's not horrible, but I came here on my last day in London when I only had about £15 left in my bank account, so it seemed outrageous at the time. Anyway, I bought a box of 8 to bring home. I got the rose, vanilla, pistachio (2x), chocolate, coffee, raspberry, and orange jasmine. The raspberry was probably my least favourite -- macarons are already sweet enough, and the thick raspberry jam filling was just too much. Pistachio and chocolate were great, but they're always my favourite. The others were nothing special. As for the general quality of the macarons, I didn't really notice anything significant differences between Laduree and Paul. Laduree's were slightly more delicate, but when it came down to it, they weren't really life-changing. In fact, I found them almost too sweet/heavy. Nevertheless, a box of Laduree macarons is a great gift if you can't think of anything else to bring home. Some genius to whom we all owe a great deal has brought the fine patisserie pleasures of Laduree macarons to the UK. No need to hop on that Eurostar to get your hands on these chewy, melt-in-your-mouth, delicate delights. I was out of the country when this miracle happened and kept being delayed from getting over to the two locations London has. I was also scared that I would be queueing from dawn til dusk. The other day, my friend insisted that I try at least one...as if that ever happens. I was not disappointed. The tiny dainty shop is located down the arcade and when I entered, I was very surprised that no one was there. I suppose it was around 11am during the work week, but still! With a Green Park/Picadilly location, I was sure I would have time to answer all of my neglected texts while I waited. You could not fit more than 4-5 souls in their gold gilded shop. Thankfully we were the only ones there and could take a little time to marvel at the rows and rows of pastel pastries. I had the Vanilla on my first visit and it was a crisp exterior just as it should be. After that initial bite, you get a warm creamy milkshake in your mouth with the not overly sweet vanilla bean coming through. And I normally don't even like Vanilla. The Caramel is fantastic as well. Makes me feel like I am in a Parisian pocket of The Old Smoke. If only there was such a thing. Big fan. There will be many returns. read more
