How amazing !
So nice to have an unexpectedly pleasant meal at a "resort" restaurant.
After driving around 180kms today (but taking hours to do it) we arrived at the Deep Blue Hotel in Warrnambool late in the afternoon.
With few expectations of a decent meal here we found out that the hotel only had a simple cafe and that we should try the restaurant across the car park in the adjoining Lady Bay Resort.
On entering in became fairly obvious that this too was a fairly casual affair catering to family groups among others.
A little noisy but with no booming echoes, we could hear ourselves talking. Often a rare occurrence in some of the more popular eateries.
Staff were very attentive without being in our faces which was nice.
I ordered the Duck Spring Rolls for entree and the Wester District Lamb Shoulder for mains.
Accompanied by a James Squire Lashes Pale Ale, the dinner proved to be very satisfying.
Perhaps the 4 duck rolls were a little over engineered, being coated in (I thought unnecessary) sesame seeds, they were nicely crisp and fresh, accompanied by a house made sweet chilli sauce.
On the other hand, the lamb shoulder, a large slab of meat coated (again) with a crumbed and herbed concoction, was meat at its finest. Very very tender and tasty. Seated on a nicely prepared bed of mash and accompanied by tenderly prepared broccolini this plate was excellent.
All in all a very unexpectedly pleasant dinner.
Very highly recommended! read more
