The menu changes frequently, with four or five choices for each course. It's a great place for romantic meals for two or having dinner with friends. Usually pretty packed, so you need to book ahead especially on weekends. Definitely one of my top two or three place to eat out in Woodbridge.

Sitting outside in the sea breeze (read it was really windy), we were sheltered by the metal surrounded bench seating, which is probably one of the best things the pier folk have ever thought of, allowing you to sit outside and forget about the weather. The menu is simple and I quickly decided on the goats cheese and caramelised onion pizza, which I shared with the other half; it arrived in good time, with an additional plate - when placing the order, my dad was asked how many people would be sharing each pizza, a clever touch, showing that they recognise what people might want. Of course, you're going to get a few flies and wasps, but it's worth it for a little bit of something different! Just don't look down, that sea looks awful choppy.

The unusual building is eye-catching and deceptively small as once inside the bar is split into four sections on three different levels. The decor is very 'woody' with the usual 'stuck to the ground' lamps and ornaments and there is even a couple of bird baths in one section. The food is fine with it standard pub grub ranging from fish and chips to steak. What really pulls in the crowds is the carvery though which is a good deal for the amount you get. The small TV over the entrance is a little weird as if there is a crowd and you walk in it can feel like its a wedding or a surprise birthday party. However, the crowd is really friendly and the beer selection is large. The manager welcomes a good chat and waitresses are polite. The only downsides being that in winter it can go a little quiet and the multicoloured eyesore next door does not help pull in the crowds. On the whole, its a great family pub, which does regular offers (check their website) and although its not as modern as the Alex, or Bencotta it has a special place in the heart of Felixstowe.

The menu is good standard cafe-style fayre and it is possible to even ask for a few things that might not be on the menu (such as bacon sandwiches). The chocolate milkshake isn't bad either - my only complaint is that it is a bit small! The cafe also gets a tick for being dog friendly (for those seated outside). There are bowls of water laid out for our four-legged friends.

For some reason, I've managed to not eat here until the last six months or so, put off I think by its apparent "poshness" - I was so wrong, it's not "posh", just very well done in a typical French style. The boat is immaculate, the staff smart and just the right side of formal. This time me and Lucy came out for a little treat as we haven't eaten out in a while. The service was outstanding, with the staff always being on hand but never too attentive and fussy. Kir for aperitifs, with a lovely Chablis (they have an excellent selection by the half bottle) with starters, and a truly fabulous Morgon with the mains. All the food was perfectly presented and delicious, rounded off with simply the best cheesecake I've ever eaten and amaretto coffees. All in all, it was brilliant. Definitely not the cheapest place, but as everything was so good, I consider it excellent VFM. Highly recommended, I'll see you there soon!
