Recently (2024?) renovated dog park in Vacaville! Of the 3-4 dog parks in town this is probably objectively the nicest. It has the most shade and best views (of the lagoon). The renovation included finally a separated area for small dogs. The fence itself is still a little low (around 4'). The ground cover is still bark. They have working water fountains and poop bags. I wouldn't go out of my way to come here though. When I've been it hasn't been too busy (mornings). The closest parking requires payment. Or you can park at the Butcher Road entrance and walk in. It's a perfect water break stop for if you're hiking Pena Adobe with your dog. read more

DOG OWNERS BEWARE! There are two regulars, a small man and a rather large woman with two AGGRESSIVE, UNUETERED, male dogs. DO NOT ENTER THE PARK WHILE THEY ARE PRESENT(Thursdays/Saturdays)! They do not stop their dogs Blackie and Junior from their aggressive antics, and they themselves will turn aggressive if you try to stop the dogs yourself. I witnessed both owners have a melt down after a guy had to rescue his female dog from Junior. He pulled Junior off his dog BY THE HARNESS! HE DID NOT HARM THE DOG! HE WAS SAVING HIS OWN PUP. And these people, who by the way were previously rooted to their spot, instantly jumped up and started shouting profanities and threatening his and his dogs life. IF YOU CARE FOR YOUR DOGS SAFTY DO NOT ENTER THE PARK WHILE THEY ARE PRESENT! THEY SHOW UP ON THURSDAYS AND SATURDAYS!! You can identify them by their useless shoting of their dogs names. Their dogs are totally untrained. I doubt they even know their names, since they don't even glance in the owners direction when shouted at. Blackie and Junior are both black medium sized dogs. This was a beautiful and nice little park. We're not from around here and wanted to make a stop while on the way back to SF since there was some traffic. We were a little concern because there was a reviewer that said a small dog was being chased by larger dogs without the other dog owners caring. We still thought we'd give it a shot. Everything was great until we got into the dog park. Most of the dogs were large while mine is around the 15 lb range. This one particular pit bull had already jumped and almost pushed me down but the owner was too busy chatting away than to care. Then the pit bull began bullying my dog. In my dogs defense he barked to try to get him off and the pit bull went for my dog. I was extremely concerned its bite my dog after my dog barked at him. My dog immediately jumped in my arms. While my dog was frantic and trying to get away from the pit bull the pit bull snapped and still try to get at my dog while still in my arm. My husband had to hold the pit bull off until the owner finally came. She took the dog and never apologized. We ended up leaving immediately without the other dog owner ever saying anything. It's like they didn't care or it was normal for them. That owner shouldn't be allowed in the park. There's clearly signs posted that says "no aggressive dogs" and "no unneutered males" yet she still brought in her dog and after the incident didn't bother apologizing about the situation. Owners that are careless and that allow their dogs to be aggressive without discipline shouldn't be dog owners and allowed to bring their dogs to these type of parks. Other than this the actual park and lagoon was lovely too bad there was one bad dog owner that ruined the end of my dogs trip to this park. read more

This is a wonderful dog park. Situated in Lagoon Valley, Pena Adobe is also a beautiful park with a large lake that has an assortment of fowl. The dog park is a very clean. There is a double-entry gate to prevent escapees with two separate entries (north and south). The southern entry alsi has a hose.. Dogs are to be unleashed and agressive dogs are not permitted and should be removed immediately. There are two fresh water fountains with bowls attached inside the park. There are several places (benches and picnic tables) to either sit at or on but dogs also choose to use the picnic tables as well. The park has plenty of trees and shade for those hot summer days. Don't forget a towel! Situated next to Lagoon Valley, this oark has a nice two to three mile hike plus an assortment of trails. The Tower Challenge is not for the feignt of heart (or dogs that cannoy climb an elevation. There is a $3.00 fee but I have never seen anyone in the booth. You can park outside the gate and walk in wwithout a problem. Enjoy! read more

We've been bringing our dog here since we got him about a year ago, as it is the closest dog park to our house. If I was rating this placed based on scenery alone it would be 5 stars! It's absolutely beautiful. The park itself could use a little bit of work, it's all mulch instead of grass and there aren't many trees for shade. There are two water dispensers on opposite sides of the park, which is really nice! This park does not have a separate space for smaller dogs. The primary reason I'm not rating this park higher is sadly because of the people that come here. There are definitely some very sweet, and friendly people that visit Peña Adobe. Unfortunately, there has been more than a few times that I've witnessed a shouting match between dog-owners. It really makes me angry when they curse at the top of their lungs because there are people that bring their children here! :( read more

We've brought our pup Roxy here quite a few times (we also walk/hike with her at the park too). It's a fairly large fenced-in dog park with a few doggie water fountains, a couple benches for the humans, and a ton of leftover tennis balls. Roxy has made a few friends at the park (she says hi to Kimber the Vizsla and Pistol the Doberman) and always has a great time. The only thing I'd like to change is that there isn't a small dog section, so it's a little hard when the little guys are in there with the bigger pups. It's $3.00 to enter the park or you can buy a yearly pass from the city! It helps maintain the park and the dog park, so don't be cheap! ;) read more

Went here for Daphnies first dog park experience. Couldn't be happier, loves the scenery and friendly people and their dogs. I didn't realize I could park right next to the dog park so I ended up walking from the very back lot to the park but we got some extra exercise out of it, along with some swimming for Daphnie! The people were all very polite and talkative, even understanding when Daphnie jumped on them a few times. Definitely will be a go to spot for us! read more

Pena adobe is a fun hike but the actual trail can be a little ambiguous at certain parks. As for the dog park, it's tons of fun but can be very scary with so many large dogs. My pup was very frightened when she got crowded by giants and I was probably more scared than her! Luckily none were aggressive and they just wanted to play. She warmed up and eventually felt more comfortable. I wish there were more grass instead of wood chips because her nails split in some areas. read more

This place did is NOT for little dogs! I barely got in the gate, and saw a poor little dog running for its life. Poor baby was crying and trying to get away. A pack of big dogs ganged up on her. The owners mostly sat on the bench too busy chatting, and not watching their dogs. My dog is still young. I had to stay right by her. I drove all that way to have to turn away and leave. Located in the same area as Lagoon Park this is a wonderful area to have a hike with the dog then take them to the dog park and let them run and socialize. It is well maintained and has fresh water and usually a lot of tennis balls for the dogs to play with. Our 3 dogs LOVE it here and we will be visiting a lot. Please come and enjoy the park but remember to watch your dog and clean up after it. That is what makes this park so enjoyable - responsible owners! read more

This dog park is okay. I will say that it has a fairly large, flat area for the dogs to run around. The gate is somewhat janky though and they don't separate small dogs from little dogs. I prefer Cordelia's dog park. read more

Agressive ok, intact puppy not ok? Beautiful dog park buuuuut, I brought my puppy who is very well socialized and gets along well with every dog he's encountered. He is not yet neutered (too young) but has NEVER been aggressive. I enter the park and he's not 20' in before a group of huskies comes roaring across the park and pins him to the ground. My dog rolled over in submission as he's supposed to when meeting more dominant dogs. This has happened before and the dogs usually sort it out rather quickly. A woman who I assume to be one of the owners waddles up and says "Is he unaltered?" I said "yes, he's a puppy" She then proceeds to tell me that her dog is aggressive toward unaltered dogs. So at this dog park I guess it's OK to be aggressive but not ok to be an unaltered puppy. read more

Amazing dog park, all the people there were so nice, as were the dogs. We decided to take our 5 month old chihuahua/jack Russell mix today, Ned she was fine at first. But the other dogs (there were about 15) just wanted to play with her.. She didn't realize this, therefore she ran, and was helping along the way.. Bring your dogs here. I'm changing my review on this park to one star. My reason is as follows. Not long ago I was there with my dog, and all good. She was playing and having a good 'ol time with other dogs. I was sitting on a bench watching as she would run up and then jump around with her new friends. At one point she ran and jumped up on the bench at full speed, and then the problems began. During her landing on the picnic table she got two of her toes caught in the metal grate. This freaked her out and caused serious pain, as one would imagine. Because she was stuck in the middle of the table I wasn't able to reach under it and see how bad things were. So, I had my friend go to my car to fetch the bolt cutters. I was ready to cut up that table. All I could was hold my dog tight so she couldn't move and injure herself. While my friend was still at the car a man jumped the fence and was able to look under the table and help get her free. If it wasn't for him I would have destroyed the table to free my dog. In the end all was good. No long term injuries, and no vet visit was required. After she got free she went right back to running around and having fun. Only now she stayed away from the table. I did call the parks department and told them about this. They assured me that those metal benches will be removed and replaced at some point because of this. I'm still waiting for that to happen. So take note: Don't let your dogs onto these green metal tables. read more

Have been here a few times since moving into the area. It's a nice gated dog park with all the needed amenities. The first time going our dog pooped in the leach/ unleash zone with excitement. What I assume was a native of the park made sure to run to me and tell me to pick it up ( which I was already in the process of doing). On weekends and when people decide to go out because it's beautiful be aware that lots of big dogs who do not seem to be socialized are in the park. I witnessed with my own ears a woman entering the park as the son warned her "It says no aggressive dogs". Sure enough they came in and so did another gentleman with an aggressive german Shepard who started fighting immediately with a dog playing with ours. The man promptly removed the dog from the park but unfortunately our dog got bite in the face during its attack. He kept on playing of course so we just made sure he stayed close. That's when we found blood running down his face and left. I am completely aware that dogs will be dogs. I just wanted to let people know to be careful so that less things like this happen in the future. read more

Came here for Lucky's first dog park visit and there were plenty of four legged friends for him. I wish there were tunnels and obstacles but I like how it's open. Lucky loved his visit and we were here for three hours. We will definitely bring him back. read more

I found this park last winter when looking for somewhere to go hike with my dog. She loves it here and is so exited as soon as we're within 5 miles of the place. I guess she smells the water. Lots of trails for long easy hikes. The off leash area is spacious enough for my dog to get a full sprint when we play fetch. I come here at least once a week. Would recommend this to anyone. There's an archery range and 18 hole disc golf course, as well as lots of picnic space. read more

We have tried this dog park three times and every time have encountered rude people and aggressive dogs. There is no oversight here for responsible dog owners. The half a dozen irresponsible dog owners simply turn their backs on whatever havoc their dogs are doing - malamutes, cattle dogs, pit bulls are allowed to run and attack your dog, and you won't even know who the owners are because they are ignoring it all. Furthermore, the shredded splintery wood is very hard on the dogs' paws, and the fence is not high enough for our big dogs. There should be a separate area for small dogs for their own safety. read more
