Oh dearie, don't even ask me about this school. The staff here? Completely wacky. I mean, I don't even know what sort of vetting process they have -- if any! It's hard for me to think about our precious children having to suffer through this whole institution. The entire setting seems like it hasn't been modernized since 1983, and don't even get me started on how it's not wheelchair friendly. It's 2025 -- how in the world does a public school still have stairs all over the place and no functional ramps?. And the workers? Astonishing. I mean, I swear they just look at me like I'm speaking nonsense every time I try to say something. One of them rolled her eyes at me last week when I asked her about the elevator that has been "out of order" for three months. Her son had to be carried up stairs because they "couldn't find the key." Excuse me?! I've also heard -- and I'm not saying I think I believe everything I hear, but people are talking -- that some of the instructors have the nerve to spit in front of the students. Can you believe it? And don't get me wrong, I'm all for discipline, but when teachers start snapping at kids for breathing too hard, maybe it's time to take a good hard look at your career choice. And the way they never listen to you. Oh, if you bring up an issue, they'll pat your back and say, "We're doing our best." Well, your "best" apparently involves broken doorways, no understanding, and lunchroom food that implies they were cooking for the Great Depression. And don't even get me started on the teachers and their so-called "professionalism." Some of them, the way they act around the kids, is absolutely inappropriate. My poor child came home every day with some new grievance -- and I assure you, I was attempting to give the place a fair shake, but enough is enough. We actually had to unenroll and pack our bags to move back to Atlanta, that's how bad it got. Can you believe it? Disrupting our entire lives because a school can't manage its own staff! And let me tell you, there was one teacher -- I'm not going to name any names, but everybody knows who I'm talking about -- who actually got fired for drinking on the job. Drinking! While teaching children! I mean, who does that? It's bad enough when grown-ups can't get it together in their own lives, but to bring that kind of behavior into a school environment? Absolutely disgusting. It's simply embarrassing. Between the absence of accountability, the crumbling building, and teachers acting like they're auditioning for a bad reality TV show, I'm finished. After my two middle schoolers attended Laguna Middle School (11050 Los Osos Valley Rd), I felt compelled to share my experience. before I do say anything, though I do want to add that this school has way too many Kamala supporters as a proud individual who supports Israel and everything they're doing if you agree with me stay away from the school now let's get into detail. I entrusted this school with my children's well-being based on the promises made about its strong academic programs and top-notch physical education department. Regrettably, my experience did not align with those assurances. In particular, I was disappointed with the physical education program. I expected it to promote healthy habits and physical fitness, but I did not see positive results during my son's time there. Additionally, my daughter, Priscilla L., expressed concerns about several teachers, and I found the counseling support to be inadequate. Middle school is a critical developmental period when children are learning to manage emotions and navigate social challenges. In my opinion, the counseling services did not provide the level of experience, guidance, and support that students at this age truly need. Overall, I was disappointed by both the academic instruction and the level of student support. Based on our experience, I strongly encourage parents to thoroughly research and carefully consider their options before enrolling their children. If I could give this place ZERO stars, I would. As a mother of triplets who all attend this so-called "middle school," I can confidently say this is the most chaotic, unprofessional, and downright unsanitary school I've ever encountered. First off, the teachers. I'm convinced some of them wake up every morning and choose rudeness as their personality. My kids come home in tears because certain staff members seem to think sarcasm counts as "discipline." One teacher actually told my son that "middle school isn't supposed to be fun." Oh, thank you for the inspiration, ma'am! What a wonderful message to send to growing kids. Now let's talk about the facilities. The desks look like they've survived a natural disaster. My daughter opened one and found--wait for it--a roach. A. Real. Roach. Crawling out like it was late for math class. The janitorial staff must be on permanent vacation, because the bathrooms smell like a science experiment gone wrong and the hallways are sticky enough to pull your shoes off. Lunch? Don't get me started. The "pizza" looks like it's been microwaved since 1999, and my son's milk carton actually puffed up before he opened it. I wish I was exaggerating. I tried reaching out to the administration, but apparently emails disappear into a black hole and phone calls are "returned when possible" (translation: never). If you value your child's health, happiness, or sanity, run. Enroll them anywhere else--even a cardboard box classroom would be an upgrade. As a current student in the academic year 2023-2024, I am appalled by the abysmal conditions prevalent within this establishment. The inadequate compensation for teachers forces many to depart, exacerbating an already dire situation. Furthermore, the administration's reluctance to address instances of misconduct towards students, exemplified by Mr. Wittman's unprofessional conduct, is utterly reprehensible. His blatant disregard for his duties, evidenced by his attendance while inebriated and his preferential treatment of male students, is a disgrace. The office staff's callous behavior towards students' meals, whether brought from home or ordered in, demonstrates a profound lack of empathy. The sporadic presence of the nurse and the school's ineffectual approach towards bullying and substance abuse further compound these issues. As a single mom with 3 children, I enrolled my children here for around 3 months, and they were complaining all the time, about the horrible bug problem and chunks in the school food. They also complained about horrible staff being rude to them. A english teacher, constantly hit one of my sons, with a ruler. Also a P.E teacher constantly was picking and being a "Pedo" as what my child said, to her which is disrespectful and I will NOT allow it. This caused my daughter, Berthia many sobs. Also my other child Gunner had a english teacher who repeatedly touched his hair without consent and gave multiple really nasty threats. Such as "I will throw you into the sun." And also, "I will pick you up and take you to Mt. Everest and throw you off." As a mother, this makes my entire family feel uncomfortable with the service at Laguna Middle School. So we have MOVED from the city because this School gave my children so much trauma. I'm highly disappointed with these teachers discipline and what they learned to get their teaching credential. read more

Horrible. Just horrible. The teachers here have absolutely no empathy. My daughter came home crying from school because of an awful day she had. She asked multiple times to switch her tutorial, but the teachers couldn't change it. That's unacceptable. She was completely stressed because she couldn't finish a project she was working on in woodshop--because she had to finish a math test instead! She prioritizes this woodshop project so much that if she can't work on it, she stresses herself out. The teachers here are terrible, and I believe they should be able to change students' tutorials. This school is just horrible. No one here is helpful, and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone! read more

Very bad. Some teachers are great, but its a low chance of getting one. Kids are crazy or jerks. I'm losing friends like they're water in a sieve. I don't trust the school councilers. The food is soggy and inedible. The milk is old and you get sick from it. You find rubber bands in the food. Also, the food is waaaaay too crazy. He has been coming everyday with spiders nesting in his backpack, he said that there are cobweebs all over the halls and he has been seeing spiders in the woodshop.
