We understand the importance and always store all food items and toiletries in the locked car. The on-site dumpsters however, were overflowing with trash.

Some sites allow generator usage but only during the day. The whole camp ground is right on Lake Michigan and from the site I was at you could hear the waves which was relaxing. There's a short path down to the beach and when the moon isn't ruining it there are spectacular views of the stars and Milky Way. The heritage trail runs through the camp which adds a little to the foot traffic but it's not bad at all. The only thing you might want to try and check on before picking a site would be were it os relative to its parking spot. At the site I was at there was a small and short incline and after days of hiking and dune climbing it started to kick my butt. Other sites had no inline, some had longer and higher ones. Just something to be aware of. Overall it's a good camp, close to a lot of fun things to see and do, and it was a good price for me. It's also pet friendly as is the beach directly in front of it. Id stay here again.

The staff are all great, when we email or have needed schedule changes they have accommodated us. The only thing I would say is that the building needs some upgrades, but I get it. It's a big place. My favorite thing about watersedge is that the girls seem to treat each other well. I observe a lot while she's in class and have noticed that.

I only got it for the kids' classes (which many are not included in). Recently, I went there, and a member of the staff named Heather started creating and enforcing rules (not posted anywhere) to a 5yo and an 8 yo kids. Asked for somebody to call me back, because that's what they told me they were going to do, but they never did. I am not mad or disappointed with them, but it keeps happening. At this point, I have to cancel the membership because this is not the first time something like this has happened, and because it hasn't been handled well at all. I hope this helps you before bringing your kids to this place.

Despite what the header says, they are open and taking groups on trail rides! Nine of us took to…read morethe trails in the rain at dusk and had an amazing ride! All of us are experienced enough that we trotted and cantered through the fields. We rode under the canopy of trees, which shielded us from the rain. I can only imagine how gorgeous this ride would be in the fall! On another note, I love that these horses are rescues--some coming from round-ups elsewhere in the United States and some from kill pens. It feels good supporting people and businesses who help save our mustangs, part of our American heritage. If you find yourself with an hour to spare and fancy a ride, I recommend Outrider. Know that when you reach the address, you might think you're at the wrong address. You aren't. And you're in good hands. You also might be surprised at how inexpensive it is compared to other trail riding places that don't offer as good of an experience as Outrider. I hope you have a blast!

The vast array of hiking trails found behind the historic State Hospital grounds is one of my…read morefavorite discoveries since moving to TC a couple of months ago. It is a perfect place to "get lost", but not in the sense that a search party has to come and find you later! The trails are easy to follow and routes/loops are well marked. You can easily spend several hours wandering around in here. When you get tired of hiking up the big hills, there's usually a bench waiting for you. There are bridges over the creeks and nice boardwalks over wet areas in a cedar grove. If you make it up to the top, which isn't hard to do, you have beautiful views of the bay through the trees. Dogs are allowed and so are bikes - the hubs is looking forward to biking the trails when spring arrives. Park anywhere at The Village and head on up any of the trails going in to the woods and you're there. I like to park by Left Foot Charley and go up Yellow Dr., past the Underground Cheesecake Factory... that way, when you come back, you can easily grab a tasty snack, sip of wine, or cup of coffee from Higher Grounds.

Really great place to check out for some trail time in nature! I can't wait to come back in summer…read moreor fall, as our visit was in winter- but still beautiful. We only saw one other couple hiking, so it was very serene. We started at the Mt Baldy trailhead parking area and went to the outlook trail. It was a fairly easy half mile with beautiful views and benches. We then went to the dune trail for the dune/bluff overlook. That, especially the part going right up to the dune, was a bit more challenging and steep. Could have been the snow obscuring steps or something though. It was VERY windy right on the lake but so beautiful with the epic views and the sand mixing with the snow. After that we headed back to the parking lot. Total it was about 2.5 miles. Trails are well marked and in the winter it appears appropriate for snow shoes or cross country skiing. There's so much more to check out than that at this preserve, so I'll definitely come back if we come to this area again.
