I honestly wouldn't recommend this place. The people here are some of the most entitled I've ever…read moremet--they clearly don't like new people and make it very hard to feel welcome. The food is extremely bland. On top of that, upper management seems totally inexperienced, which is shocking considering how many years they've supposedly been running this place. Overall, a huge letdown. T

I have so many incredible memories from my time here as a child, and I'm loving creating new memories with my family now as an adult... The camp has everything you need and more and there is something for everyone from babies to kids at heart no matter what age. Activities include archery, arts and crafts, boating, field sports, nature, pickle ball, riding, riflery, swimming, tennis, yoga, and so much more. There are optional faculty forums, book clubs, and educational opportunities, as well as plenty of time to relax, schmooze with other campers, read, etc... Camp Michigania is the one place that my family can spend time together without electronics, enjoy the outdoors, meet new friends, build relationships with old friends and family we don't see often, and everyone can go out and do what they want during the day and reconvene at night. The cabins are comfortable but not over the top. Staff is fun and attentive. If you're lucky, you might even have a unicorn sighting during your week at camp. I hope to continue coming to camp for years to come.

Be aware that there are many sites that require walk in to the tent pad. We have a roof top tent so we were super careful not to choose one of those. The only reason for 4 stars - when we checked in the ranger was adamant that we properly store our food because there are bears / raccoons. No issue for us. We understand the importance and always store all food items and toiletries in the locked car. The on-site dumpsters however, were overflowing with trash.

Some sites allow generator usage but only during the day. The whole camp ground is right on Lake Michigan and from the site I was at you could hear the waves which was relaxing. There's a short path down to the beach and when the moon isn't ruining it there are spectacular views of the stars and Milky Way. The heritage trail runs through the camp which adds a little to the foot traffic but it's not bad at all. The only thing you might want to try and check on before picking a site would be were it os relative to its parking spot. At the site I was at there was a small and short incline and after days of hiking and dune climbing it started to kick my butt. Other sites had no inline, some had longer and higher ones. Just something to be aware of. Overall it's a good camp, close to a lot of fun things to see and do, and it was a good price for me. It's also pet friendly as is the beach directly in front of it. Id stay here again.

There's a reason this place has been in operation over 40 years and almost entirely by word of mouth recommendations. It's run very well. The standards and expectations of the staff are high. When I look at what my kids have learned at a very young age at CDCC as compared to kids we know in home daycare, it blows them away. In the rare cases where I've had concerns or questions, they were addressed immediately and professionally. The teachers are warm and caring and my kids get lots of hugs and TLC. My husband's work schedule and mine are never the same from day to day, and the flexibility we have with CDCC makes it possible. When I've gone back and forth between 3-5 days, they've always made it work. I don't need to notify them if my kids are coming in earlier than usual. And I can't remember once when they've closed for snow, even when all the schools are closed. Somebody makes it in to make sure they're there for the families. What makes it a full 5 stars is even being the best in town, it's actually a good value compared to some other centers. Central is a nonprofit. Now the Center is having to move out of its downtown location, and we will very likely be following them, even with a further drive, so my younger child can continue to get the benefits her brother got attending CDCC. They have families who drive from as far as Elk Rapids so their kids can attend this program. Obviously I can't recommend them enough.
