My son is only in kindergarten but loves math and asked if he could do an afterschool math class. It was not easy finding a facility that was willing to work with my son since he was so young--I quickly found that most programs start at 1st or 2nd grade. I made several calls telling each facility that we wanted to do once a week (no more!) and it was hard to find a match. Mathnasium Lake Forest called me and asked me to come in with my son to try it. I reiterated that I only wanted a once weekly class and said that if they couldn't do that, I would rather not come in. To make a long story short, Carlos insisted that we come in, and then he called me afterwards to give a hard sell on why we should sign up for twice weekly sessions. I was upset over this blatant bait and switch. It wasn't right to entice my child and use him to try to guilt me into paying double to go twice a week.

We came from the public school system and will never go back. Several teachers have over 30 years of experience and all the staff are highly skilled. The school has a strong reputation, plenty of resources and good parent engagement. My children get a kick out of wearing their fancy uniforms every so often. I am always amazed when my young children whip out their homework and do it on their own without me reminding them. I am impressed by how well behaved and respectful the students are in general. A great plus for me is that they let kids be kids in the younger classrooms ( pre-k to 4th grade ) and do not contaminate this special time with idealistic, controversial concepts adults have dreamt up.
