This one has a beautiful lake with a waterfall which cascades over a bridge walkway. The meandering shape of the lake is just so graceful and relaxing to look upon. Some cool features are the fact you can walk down to the waters edge and just take in the beauty of the water gently splashing up on the grassy shores with big Texas shade trees and baby ducks sleeping in the grassy areas. Sit on the walkway wall right above the waterfall and watch the waterfall as you drift away daydreaming mindlessly without a care in the world. There's a couple of picnic tables to bring a snack and just hang out with a total 360 view of the lake. Picturesque for photos. Nicely manicured grass areas and natural grassy terrain - you choose. Catch and release fishing. You can ride your bike up to the waters edge or drive your car and just park on the side. There use to be many large wild ducks and geese which would walk across Cochrans Crossing and hold up traffic. Don't seem to see the big wild ones anymore. If you do and are new to this park don't feed them. They'll come running fast after you and will ATTACK. I've been chased out by them snapping at the bottom of my jeans. I even had to throw pine cones on the ground to deter them letting them think it was food to escape. Anyway it seems like the LARGE WILD ATTACK DUCKS have moved on and the park is back to a more ZEN feeling.

Lots of walk paths and a medium sized pond. Fishing is allowed with a 5 maximum trout bag limit. Some ducks in the pond - please feed peas or corn. Bread and crackers are bad for them. Covered pavilion, play structures, exercise equipment. Ample parking. Bathrooms are unisex.

I recently completed a slow pitch softball season here and found it to be a significant upgrade in every imaginable way from the prior season at Alden Bridge. The fields, lights, umps, people, bathrooms, etc are all better. The only gripe I have is that a couple of the scoreboards need to be fixed - everything works other than the runs on one and one of them doesn't work at all. But outside of that, I'm happy to play here permanently moving forward. But before my season started, I brought my son here one day to check out the fields. I saw that there were a couple different playgrounds, so I let him out to play and he never wanted to leave. One of them is for kids more in his age range (3), while the other is more suited for older kids. Naturally, he liked the one for older kids more because he loves a challenge. While it's not the most convenient location for us (about 30 minutes with no traffic, and closer to 40 at rush hour), I'm happy to play at Carl Barton for the foreseeable future and will definitely be bringing my son back again. This is the second of only three well-groomed parks in Montgomery that affords good walking paths and regular upkeep by citizens of Montgomery who use and value the park and Montgomery Public Works Services. The other two parks are Memory (Lake) Park and Fernland. There are play sets for children, shady swings and benches for the adults, a sand volleyball court, and a large rentable Pavilion for special events. There are two or three BBQ grills in the park for picnicking and lots of shade from the large old trees. The park is situated adjacent to the City Hall and Montgomery Police Department so it is safe for all. There are many who walk or jog in this park. There is parking for bicycles but because there are those who use the sidewalks for walking, cyclists are encouraged to yield to the bi-peds and four-paws. Better yet, park your bike and enjoy the park! Motorized vehicles are not allowed. Cedar Brake Park suffered quite a blow when a tornado ripped through it last year but Public Works got after the damage and now the park is regaining its strength though some trees are now leaning a little more than they used to. This park boasts a little bit of civilization by providing sidewalks in a city where sidewalks are the exception rather than the rule. There are regularly-cleaned public bathrooms. The park is well-lighted for pre-dawn and after-dark walks. There is handicapped parking and access making it easy for all to use and appreciate the park. Don't forget to say hello to Sam Houston, who regularly dons a Santa Hat during the Holidays. Sammy, Dude, you are so short! At Christmas time, local businesses "rent" the lamposts and decorate them, each with different themes and lights. At one point during the season, they are judged for their designs and awarded first, second and third place by the city. On-leash dogs are welcome and there are dog poop bags at three stations along with adequate trash bins. Dog Owners/Parents are urged to use these facilities and pick up after their dogs. Help keep our parks beautiful by picking up your trash and disposing of it properly. Make it clean for all to enjoy. It takes a village!

Cedar Brake can be used year round rain or shine. There are covered pavilions for you to escape the weather and heat. The trees offer some protection from the blazing Texas sun. Why 1 star? Because these are the worst softball fields I've ever played on…read more --- --- --- This review is purely for the softball fields. In looking at some of the other photos, I honestly did not even know the other parts of this park even existed. I have been here several times for softball games and practices and that's the only part of Alden Bridge that I've ever seen. Why these fields are the worst: 1) I've played on slow pitch softball for almost 20 years and 95% of the fields I've played on are a standard 300 feet from home plate to the fence, or very close to that. At Alden Bridge, there are two co-ed fields with about a 200 foot fence and a men's field that's about 400 feet. Why is this terrible? Because on the co-ed fields, decent players constantly hit accidental home runs that result in outs once you've hit your limit (1 & 1-up). While I've only played co-ed here, I cannot imagine that the men's field ever sees any home runs because there are probably plenty of MLB players who cannot hit a softball over these fences. 2) To try to prevent too many accidental home runs, men hit with a rubber ball. If you don't hit it completely square, you get a lot of backspin and bad mis-hits. For the infielders, they have to play hops very differently, as the balls jump around like they are on a trampoline. 3) Like virtually every other square inch of the Woodlands, just beyond the fence on each field is a heavily wooded forest. So not only are home runs hit all the time, but it's difficult to find the balls when you try to retrieve them. When we were taking batting practice one time, one of our guys got stung several times by yellow jackets when he was trying to find some balls out there. 4) The outfield grass, especially on field 3 is a permanent swamp land. It's incredibly dangerous how muddy it is out there and it doesn't matter if it's rained or not within the last week. I've slipped and fallen flat on my face several times when trying to chase down a ball. 5) While it was only one time, before one of our games, the toilets were all backed up and the bathroom literally smelled like a sewage plant and the floors were covered in brown substance. Maybe it was just dirt, or maybe I basically just waded through a pool of poop to get to the urinal... which was also backed up. 6) Unless I've totally missed it somehow, there are no concessions available, which would be nice and a way for the park to make a few bucks. If I'm asked to somehow find a positive with this park, the one thing I will point to is that there's plenty of parking available that is not in a danger zone to be hit by foul balls and home runs. Most softball parks have their parking lot within a few feet of the fence and it's inevitable to see cars constantly getting hit by balls. Here, that doesn't happen as the cars are pretty far back. But that is the only thing I can think of that I like here. After completing one season, I hope to never play at these fields again.

They have a toddler area, an older kids area, and the dinosaur in the middle with a small open grass area. I'd say this is a good park for ages 3-7, my 9 year old wasn't as inclined to enjoy the amenities as they were and mountain climbed on top of everything. Overall it's a quaint and cute little park well maintained. Think I saw 2 tables with benches, a water fountain with attached dog fountain. There isn't designated parking which even further solidifies it's more for the surrounding neighborhood.

There is a toddler playground and a playground for slightly older kids or adults you want a good swing. There is a large stone like dinosaur in the middle raised grass area. Also you'll find a picnic table and a fresh dog drinking fountain. Dogs are allowed on a leash. This is not an official dog park. Feel free to bring a picnic basket and enjoy the beautiful woods in this small 2 acre neighborhood park. This also can be a teenager hangout at night but the cops frequent it at night now looking for underage or of age partiers. I wouldn't suggest parting here anymore. If you're looking for basket ball, tennis courts, cooking grills and restroom facilities you'll have to go further down Cochrans Crossing to the larger park. Parking is on the street curb.
