I can't say how much I enjoyed being with real elephants at such close quarters and being able to touch them too... As a child, I have seen real elephants in old temples, they don't have them anymore. Other than that its been zoo and safari. But this was different.... Kennedy introduced himself as the guy who was taking care of animals since 5 generations and he is studying to be a vet. The main mahout was a small guy and he was hilarious. He did most of the talking about all the animals. These elephants are rescue elephants which have been handed over by the zoo for various reasons, or, so I understand. There are 3 elephants Paige with longest teeth, Jeanie with a little short ones , and Krissy with none. With poaching increasing, the number of Krissy's are increasing. That will keep them safe I guess. Not sure why the previous reviews are so brief. We got to learn about them, feed them carrots, even phones if u r willing to give away ( ha ha- Paige really seemed to want them), how to keep their foot and nails in shape, bathing them so on and so forth. This was the first time I had heard a live trumpet and it was adorable. In the end we posed for pics. They are tamed and trained no doubt, but seemed to be enjoying our company and well treated by their owners. They have plenty of parking. Tickets are purchased online, most often they are open only one weekend a month. Restrooms are available. Food not allowed, but a bottle of water is ok. Got to meet Abu the camel, his partner, a zebra and a billy goat and his family too. I wanted to hold one and did not know how to- one of the helper guys I approached said just pick them up and hold - really ! Then some other fellow visitor helped. read more

This was a nice surprise. This is a family owned business but they are very kind and welcoming. They teach you all about the animals and give you time to interact with them and take pictures. We got to feed the camels and hold the baby goats. We also got to feed the elephants and touch them and bath them . They give plenty of chances to take pictures and everything is orderly and well run. They ensure safety of the guests and you can tell the elephants and animals are well taken care of. The entrance was kinda of hard to spot as the sign is kinda small but we found it! Come here if you love animals and learning about animals. Great for families and couples. read more

Absolutely outstanding experience. We loved every second! Very well thought out, not rushed, got to spend plenty of time with all of the animals. You'll likely never have the opportunity to get this up close to Elephants, who are an unbelievable sight to behold. If you live anywhere near Houston, this should be on your bucket list. We also loved the goats and camels... but the elephants stole the show! Very informative. My wife and I are in our 40's and loved it. So I can imagine how enjoyable it would be for kids. This generational family owned experience provided a friendly atmosphere where we were able to interact with camels, goats, sheep and elephants. The main event, for me, was being able to touch the elephant's noses. That was a bucket list item I thought I'd never achieve. I can't thank this group enough for making that happen! We loved this experience! We went for my son's second birthday, and weren't exactly sure what to expect. We were able to interact with the elephants, including feeding them, bathing them, and taking a lot of pictures with them! I loved the education they provided about the elephants, including where they're from and what it consists of to care for them. These are beautiful creatures and you can tell they are well-cared for! This was the most amazing place! Our encounter was absolutely magical and brought me to tears. I learned all about African elephants and their care. They are these brilliant beautiful creatures that have so much personality. In the wild they would face so many terrifying things like poaching and lack of food. Their family has devoted their entire life to the care and well being of their animals. Some would say they are even SPOILED! All the animals are very healthy with a team of care takers and veterinary medical professionals. We had a great time, felt very comfortable outdoors, and learned a ton. Our trip to East Texas Elephant Experience was nothing short of unbelievable. The owners and employees are personable and knowledgable and the animals are very well cared for. The owner has literally grown up with these 3 girls and they are definitely part of his family. I've seen elephants in the wild, but from a distance, of course. But to have 3 of these beautiful creatures walk up and stand four feet away from you, almost moved me to tears. My 12 year old daughter LOVES elephants and this trip was her surprise bday gift. I don't think there could've been a happier girl in the world. To not only see them so close but to interact with them, feed them, brush them, touch them....indescribable. What a wonderful experience. Visited on Dec 19, 21. It was rather amazing to get to have close contact with the elephants, camels and goats. What a perfect way to interact with elephants. The staff were excellent, kind, concerned about us and obviously totally enjoyed what they were doing.
