The dissolvable stitches made healing super easy, and everything healed perfectly. If you're looking for an oral surgeon, I can't recommend Dr. Latocha enough. Mostly because of the pain and possibility of receiving news that is unsettling or downright scary. So when Thanksgiving loomed around the corner and I felt some sharp pains around the back of my jaw, I instinctively knew that most likely it was time to visit my dentist and see an oral surgeon check on my wisdom teeth. Sure enough, all 4 impacted teeth needed to be removed, otherwise, my grills would be looking worse off than a loose jigsaw puzzle. I was referred to Dr. LaTocha by my dentist and a couple of friends of mine who had gone to him. Even though perhaps he might be a bit on the gruff side and somewhat scary with his remarks (sorry, I don't have perfect gums/teeth - genetics do play a part and I do brush and floss), overall, I was satisfied with the surgery results and came away f without experiencing any pain. Yes, the inside of my mouth/cheeks were torn up from the surgery and it was a much bloodier mess than I anticipated, but as a patient, I thought the overall experience was smooth. I didn't have any pain after the surgery nor did I have need to use my prescription Vicodin. The ibuprofen was sufficient. When I sensed an infection and part of my jaw was swollen, his office was quick to get me in and have an antibiotic prescribed to me. Dr. LaTocha shares offices in several locations throughout Lake County, so he is a journeyman of sorts. You just have to make sure he's at the office that you prefer, or be willing to be wherever he is. His office staff are nice enough and the facilities are well-maintained. He does accept all major insurance and does have affordable payment plans, I think, for those not insured.

There was one major difference this time, I was referred to THIS amazing surgeon! The staff, from start to finish and front to back, are perfect. I was so nervous and miserable but after my consultation I felt much more confident. They got my prescriptions sorted out and prepped me for what to expect on the day of my surgery (1 week, a very quick turnaround). The actual surgeon is the BEST medical professional I've ever interacted with. No exaggeration. On the day of my extractions he explained everything that was going to happen and really put my mind at ease. They knocked me out so efficiently I don't remember even feeling funny, I simply woke up with everything done! Leaving, I received a take home kit with all the info I needed, an adorable penguin ice pack to use on my jaw, lip balm to help with dry lips, and a device to spray medicine or saltwater on the extraction sites. They also called the next day to check on my progress. With the promise that I could always call with questions or concerns, our business was concluded. My 82-year-old mother was charged significantly above what is Usual, Customary, and Reasonable (UCR) for two simple fillings, coded D2330 and D2332. She was charged $263 for a 1-surface filling of one tooth (D2330) and $385 for a 3-surface filling of another tooth (D2332), totaling $648 for about 30 minutes of work. When I spoke to the front desk clerk regarding these excessive charges, she tried to tell me they charge less than UCR. Not true! They purposefully do not contract with ANY dental insurance plans, so a patient is left to pay whatever absurd excess they want to charge above the UCR set by dental insurance plans. While the clinical work was fine, the price gouging is undeniable. I have had a few dental fillings myself, and fees paid by insurance plus my copay was never remotely close to what this office charges! When I mentioned that my initial search for reasonable market costs for D2330 and D2332 in zip code 60031 was using AI, the clerk literally laughed into the phone, despite that AI provided legit references for its data. She pointed me instead to fairconsumerhealth dot org for pricing. For zip code 60031, "average allowed amount" at the 80th %ile even for D2330 is $176 and for D2332 is $253, a fraction of what this office charges! For an even more stark comparison, consider that as of 2025, the Illinois Department of Healthcare and Family Services allowed $52.18 and $92.19, respectively, for these same services. I highly recommend looking elsewhere for a practice that values fair pricing. Neumann and Mackey focus on running a profit-driven business, not a patient-centered dental practice. Good chairside manner does not justify price gouging, especially little old ladies on fixed incomes.

He has done tooth extractions and an implant for my family. Never any issues, everything is clearly discussed upfront, no hidden costs or agenda so you know ahead of time what you are going to entail prior to surgery. They will make you as comfortable during the process too. No rushing through the process - from the time the procedure is discussed to the time you leave the procedure chair. I had a few estimates done prior to the first few visits with my children and Dr. Oltean is in fact "in-line" with other Oral Surgeons in the area. My kids have to be dragged to any Doctors and they said they would not hesitate going back, nor would I! Every process has been treated with the utmost comfort and care. Also, the staff has been nothing but professional from the Front Desk Administration to the X-Ray Technician and Surgeon Assistant.

I've got a lot of anxiety about the dentist at this point, but the staff here made me feel confident. They really took their time checking me out, and they did it very gently. After confirming some information from a previous specialist I've seen, We're ready to move forward with a treatment that should improve my situation, and do it at a price point I can manage. The office is very nice. It's got relaxing views and even binoculars for bird watching to help those waiting to kill time. I'll update in the future after everything is done!

Sarah was extremely nice as she greeted me right as I walked in the door. I let her know I was nervous and she said Dr. Neiburger is very gentle and his patients love him. I was extremely comfortable because everyone was so nice. Dr. Neiburger is very gentle and explains everything thoroughly. I'm looking forward to my next dentist appointment. If you have yet to find a fantastic dentist, you need to give Dr. Neiburger a shot. You will not be disappointed.
