I inspected the crown and it didn't look damaged. (Props to my former work friend's husband. Not a former friend, just a friend who is now retired. Anyway, her husband created the crown). Luckily, they were able to cement the crown back on, and I just have to lay off the hot bevs, crispy crunchies, and sticky caramels for 24 hours. She showed me all the x rays and photos. I set aside money and was ready to commit to this office. About a year later we came back. Different orthodontist and style. She recommended extracting permanent teeth before braces. Her approach was somewhat off putting. I didn't feel heard and didn't seem like they considered all options or even provided the pros/cons for evaluation. Felt like they want you just to accept their opinion without explanation. When I asked to get a copy of x rays, since it wasn't viewed this time, they charged $270 or $350 including photos.

Several years ago my old bridge (done by some other dentist) started shaking, and she tried to remove and reattach it to save me time and money, and I thought it was kind and thoughtful of her. She tried 3 times in vane, and eventually she had to cut it and make a new one. Then I didn't doubt her skills, but now I suspect that that bridge could be removed and reattached. Read on. 2. In November 2023, my wife's tooth broke, and she tried to reattach it, but, after an hour of messing with it and leaving my wife in tears, she gave up. 3. My wife then got an implant and came back to Dr. Wascow for an implant crown, but her newly-installed crown was shaking, A NEW CROWN! It turned out the new crown was short and installed incorrectly. My wife went to a different dentist who removed the crown and made and installed a different one that fit perfectly well, like her own natural tooth. 4. Within a week after my wife broke her tooth, mine broke too, miraculous coincident. Dr. Wascow "kindly" reattached/glued it, but it broke within a week or so, so she tried again, but it fell off in a day or two, but what surprised me was that she charged me both times (even 2nd time for her unsuccessful attempt to try to correct her own mistake). I also got an implant, then went to the same dif. dentist who made my wife's crown, and he made me a new crown. WE NEVER WENT BACK TO DR. WASCOW.

We've been frustrated recently that there doesn't seem to be any clear direction in his treatment and decided to look into other orthos that focused on airway and speech. Our myofunctional therapist recommended we have a consultation with Dr Jacobson. We booked a consultation with him and a few others orthodontists that came highly recommended. It's a bit of a drive for us from glencoe to Vernon hills, although after our trek to the city for orthodontist appointments the past 4 years this was doable. It's also conveniently located in the same center a starbucks (for those who need a constant caffeine fix like me) and coldstone creamery (soft treat bribery after ortho treatments). We were seen right away and they took some pictures of my son's mouth with the help of my husband. My son wasn't really a fan of the pictures, but powered thru. Then Dr. Jacobson came in and took a look in my son's mouth and at the pictures. We asked for an opinion of what he would do for our son's ortho treatment. I liked that, unlike some of the other orthodontists we met with, he mentioned how the expander and other devices would help with speech. He also seemed to strike a good balance between getting him the treatment he needs, but not going overboard. He's had one device after another over the last 4 years, which IMO has been too much. We left with lots of info and impressed. We met with a few other orthodontists and ultimately decided to give Dr. Jacobson a try. Every ortho seems to tell us something different, but we felt good with him plan after our consultation and our myofunctional speech therapist (who we trust a lot) has been impressed with his work for her other patients. We head back later this summer to start treatment with an expander so will update with future experiences, but based on the consultation feel good about our decision.
