Stayed in our tiny RV, old but clean bathrooms, no shade, picnic table at each site, along with water, cable, and both 30/50 amp. It was off season, March, so there were no kayak rentals but we walked along the lake and hiked in the wildlife refuge. We were there to see our grandson at Fort Sill so it was perfect. You do have to go through the base to get into LETRA so plan on getting a visitor pass. read more

We had a nice little getaway here in a medium-size cabin. The cabin was clean with beautiful rustic wood craftsmanship. It had a bedroom and a loft with another bed upstairs (both beds were full size). The kitchen has a microwave and stove, but no oven. It also has a refrigerator. There is a small TV with Direct TV if there's a game or something you just can't miss. There is also decent cell service (we have AT&T) and WiFi access. The bathroom had just a shower, which isn't a big deal for many people, but something to keep in mind if you have kids that only take baths. You have to bring your own linens. This is located on base at Fort Sill, but I believe people without a military ID can access the area with a visitors pass. In addition to cabins are tent sites and RV sites. You don't have to be camping to use the beach and other amenities like the playgrounds after paying an entrance fee. The beach has a lifeguard on duty and a facility with restrooms/showers. There is a little room for improvement when it comes to maintenance. There was peeling paint on our cabin, spiderwebs in many places outside, and a piece missing on our bench on the porch. There were seagull feathers and (dog?) poop all over the beach. Two of the three playgrounds were covered with overgrown grass (but to be fair one had a sign saying it was undergoing maintenance). Overall, I thought it was a great value at $90 per night. It's nothing fancy, but our cabin was perfect for "glamping" and the area is beautiful with picturesque views of Mount Scott. It was a nice, relaxing escape and I look forward to visiting again! read more

This review is late by a couple of years! I'm only doing it now because our neighbors who wants to have their 11 yr old girls birthday there for 2 days.. Has never been there! They booked a cabin months ago for this coming up weekend. I had to tell her what we have experienced and know! Letra used to be the best place to go around here to have great family fun! I worked for MWR and filled in at times at Letra! Those were the good Ole days! 2 years or so ago.. maybe 3, we rented a cabin for 2 days. That 2 days.. the beach, slide.. everything was closed down! It was so very hot out that the ac in the cabin couldn't even hold up. Mosquitos were bad bad bad! Couldn't fish! Now.. if that wasn't bad enough, apparently there was an alphabet soup group reunion.. whatever! I don't care who is who or what they do BUT.. It's like that's ALL that was there in those cabins, they flaunted their sexuality BIG TIME in the open at the pavillion by the cabins! Many were dressed VERY inappropriately! Thongs and expressing seriously inappropriate sexuality that even straights folks shouldn't do! It was utterly disgusting! Absolutely NO employees nor military police cruised through to check things! NO ONE! We didn't call anyone.. we just went to sleep as early as possible and got up early the next morning and LEFT! We forfeited our second night money that we paid for! Ok. Fast forward a year.. We went to a fishing tournament there. What a joke! Folks were very nice, we paid our fair share, we followed the rules. We were told our vehicles, coolers, etc would be thoroughly checked to make sure of NO CHEATING! That DID NOT HAPPEN! No one was checked! PERIOD! There were alot of people registered for such a small lake. Many of us were cramped together in certain fishable areas. You'd get a nibble maybe we saw NO ONE actually catching a viable fish! A guy clear away from everyone had loads of dead fish and won! Explain that mess! We will never go again! Ever! Stick with lake Lawtonka for recreational or Elsworth for fishing! This was our first time out to LETRA And I have to say that we definitely enjoyed ourselves. We got off to a late start which caused us to only have about an hour of swimming but while we were there the water felt great and the scenery was amazing. Our cabin was wonderful and had a great view for us to enjoy the sunset. Unfortunately we weren't able to rent kayaks because they shut down rentals at 1700, however we will be back and we will have another opportunity to rent some another time. The other people who were staying in the cabins were very considerate and weren't loud and obnoxious all night which made our stay that much nicer. I recommend laying out in the middle of the night and just enjoying the sky. read more

After a rough time getting in touch for reservations, we learned that they are short staffed and don't always have someone to answer the phone. ...so if you need reservations, keep trying or send a message by social media as they will have someone contact you. The young lady who takes your money at the gatehouse is super sweet. Kat and the gang who take care of paddle boats, kayaks, etc are top notch when it comes to customer service, safety and go above and beyond. They have kayak lessons - just in case you ever wanted to learn. We also found out they have sunrise and sunset tours on kayaks and took one. Sunrise on LETRA in a kayak is beautiful. We rode along the edges for a ways to look at the rock formations and the water is so clear! We didn't get to see any wildlife that morning but it was still a great trip on the water anyway. They have two guides in the water w the group as well as a boat for emergencies and everyone is required to wear a life jacket. Almost 2 hours for $15. Great price. Thanks Kat! read more

Took the kids out to Elmer Thomas today and wasn't impressed with the swimming area. There was trash in the bushes near the water and water slides and dog poop in several spots on the beach. We didn't bring our puppy because the website said no pets allowed on the beach so we were surprised to find this there. read more

We just returned from staying at LETRA for 5 days during Spring Break. The weather was pretty cold and windy so not able to partake in any fishing or water activities on the lake, which is absolutely beautiful. Reservation process for me was relatively easy and unlike some past reviews had no problem reserving a spot and got the spot we were assigned. The campsites were about 2/3 full and were all clean and orderly. Only downside, no trees or shade areas at all. We camped in our trailer with full hookups so didn't use their restrooms or shower but they appeared to be nice. There are 2 play areas with slides/swing for the little ones and I imagine most are swimming in the pristine lake when its warmer. All in all a good park to stay at. Just remember you are on a military base and there is a small store at the camp site but mainly just snack type stuff. If you don't bring it with you or know someone on base you have to go in/out of the base to get to a store which requires a pass which you have to get when you first enter Ft Sill. read more
