Lakeside primitive camping is ideal at Lake Lawtonka!! Lots of tree coverage for tents with lake access. Bathrooms near by with hot water showers which is a must during summer sweaty days; could use a little upgrading. East side campgrounds is the place to be to get those amazing Oklahoma views of Mt Scott and surroundings! Close to Medicine Park for bathing in their River/falls and enjoying their cute town and festivals! Plus the hiking around this area is so scenic for OKC! Short drive from the city to get away!

Absolutely gorgeous lake and swimming beach. I come here often to swim and just relax near the water. The views of Mt Scott are gorgeous and the water is warm and feels clean. The beach is rocky so wear swim shoes in the water. We love to take our floats out there and just relax under the sun. There's several nice covered picnic areas spread throughout and a nice grassy lawn for your beach blanket or chairs. The campgrounds look nice and we see a lot of folks fishing there too. We live nearby and we just go for the beach. On weekends, it can get very dirty unfortunately, thanks to litterbugs. We always bring a bag and pick up some trash. It makes me sad so many people just trash such a gorgeous and free amenity. Just an FYI: no dogs allowed. We brought ours one time and a police officer sent us on our way!We understood, just bummed our pups can't join in our fun!

Beautiful lake, scenery is amazing. Plenty to do and explore or just swim, fish, cookout or enjoy one of the amazing restaurants nearby.

The fishing is amazing even for an amateur like me. Scott, Park Manager, is a pleasure to deal with. Super friendly and supportive. We stayed down near the water in spot 29. The only minor frustration is the flies. But that was probably our own problem. They loved the outside of our RV. but were almost unnoticeable when out and about. We highly recommend this park. A very beautiful part of Oklahoma we don't get to see enough of. We will be back.

We enjoyed swimming in the lake, there's a wonderful sandy beach that's very clean. There's some decent hiking trails and apparently some good fishing, we saw a lot of people fishing near the dam. We loved how empty it was on a beautiful Saturday afternoon. Only a few tents and campers around, it felt very private and secluded. We had the entire beach to ourselves. Unlike Lake Lawtonka, this park allows dogs or at least we didn't see any signs indicating otherwise! Our dogs thoroughly loved it! It's pretty secluded so pack your lunch and bring plenty of water to drink. There was a small general store near the boat ramp that sells burgers but not sure they're open all year.

You're a bit at the mercy of whoever is there. A lot of people were there for the day backed up to a covered spot and blaring music. There was a depressing amount of trash around. The castles are neat and after doing some web searching we found some history about them (not offered by the park itself which is odd). Some areas feel pretty unsafe. The store just sells towels, $2 water shoes for $20 and life vests. No swimming allowed today (it's still winter and because of flooding) but a lot of people were in various areas of the river. The bathrooms were spread around the upper areas and I think mostly for campers and cabin folks. No one is policing anything though. The ports potties were rank.

The bison are truly breathtaking. If you get the chance to see them sit and watch for a while. We were able to do some hiking and picnic. There's also camping and fishing and boating, but we didn't do any of that on this trip. We picked up lots of pamphlets at the visitor center, so we can come back again and try again. They have lots of help at the visitor center and are glad to answer questions. They also have a great little gift shop if you want to pick up a treasure or a Momento for your visit. We took the time to take the scenic drive up to the top of Mount Scott walked around, took lots of photos. We met people from all over the world up there. It was pretty amazing. I can't wait to go back and do some more hiking. We did stop on the side of the road to look at the Longhorn cattle. There are some of the original stock from back on the turn-of-the-century or release from the bloodline it's pretty neat all these things that you can do while you're here visiting I highly recommend it. It's a great adventure not just for families but just solo if you wanna get out and explore.
