I was ordering a large funeral arrangement and asked Annie to text me a picture of a vase -- she told me it would be $5 extra!! What?!?! I don't care how beautiful your floral work is - rude and greedy companies can just keep their flowers! She was also quite curt and rude on the phone. What my cousin received was less spectacular than the regular arrangement pictured much less than the deluxe version. I emailed them pictures comparing what I ordered versus what was received....I asked them to suggest some remedy or partial refund.....to make this right. Never got a response. I then contacted them directly through the "Contact Us" page on their website....never got a response. A picture is worth a thousand words....remember I paid extra to get better than their picture. I know this a little lengthy but is worth the read! Be very cautious when placing a phone order with this business. Ask to get something in writing in an email. Unfortunately I learned this lesson too late and lost in arbitration with my credit card company because I didn't have it in writing when ordering a fish made out of flowers for my brother's long-time fishing buddy and family friend that had passed from cancer. The thing delivered to the funeral home didn't have a single flower on it! See attached picture below. If they didn't want to or couldn't make a fish made out of flowers as asked they could of simply said so. We found out they couldn't too late. I called and spoke to and dealt with John, the owner, throughout the process. I asked if he could make a fish made out of flowers and he said he could. He quoted me a total price of $300 including tax and delivery yet without notification he charged my card $376. My brother was ok with the additional cost as he just wanted to do something special for his fishing buddy of over 30 years. Unfortunately when he attended the funeral and saw what they had delivered he was so upset and embarrassed. Since we knew the family from childhood they actually tried to make him feel better about the "fish" as they knew what he tried to do. I contacted John the owner and explained this is not what I ordered and asked for a full refund. John/Lake Forest Flowers is trying to say that I actually called and ordered a fish "made out of natural materials". That is not what I ordered nor would of even thought of before hearing them use it as an excuse! Seriously why do you call a florist but normally to order flowers! Unfortunately we entrusted them with a very important and special order for our family. Without answering me he credited my account $150 thinking we would be ok with that even though we asked for a full refund. More attempts were made to talk/contact John without any responses. My brother and I even went to the business to try and talk to John but were given the runaround saying" he wasn't there and wasn't answering his phone". In the end I'm posting this review to warn others to beware of this business especially if you are dealing with John (the owner). At this point it's not about getting our money back. We went to Lake Forest Flowers to get some arrangements for my father's memorial service. Neither my sister or I are very knowledgeable about flowers so this was a bit difficult for us. My father wanted something simple, not extravagant. The staff did a great job helping us pick out an appropriate display for our location. It was especially nice that they did not try to push us to buy arrangements with expensive vases, but instead listened to our directions and provided us with a very cost effective offering. On the day of the service, the flowers showed up on time and were perfect for the room. The flowers were beautiful and very well arranged. All in all, we were very happy with this shop. read more

I was very excited to pick up flowers for Valentine's Day but upon entering the flower shop I was immediately directed to the $50 arrangement table. Why? Because my skin too dark or were the braids in my hair denoting that I could only afford a $50 arrangement. So of course I bought the $200 arrangement that was reserved For people that did not look like me. .Looking back I should've just left. Most definitely overpriced for what I I received. My husband had frequented this flower shop with no issues several times in the past however, I recently went in with him for the first time to select a bouquet to send to a friend of ours who is suffering through a terrible diagnosis. We were helped by Annie, who I can only describe as having very little patience, was rude and disrespectful, scoffing when asked about specific vases and flowers, and seemed more keen to speak more directly to my husband than to me (I guess men make easier customers in florist shops). I felt very dismissed the entire time and even on the way out she started eagerly helping another gentleman before we were barely finished. By the time we left I was so upset at the treatment I/we received from Annie. I had met one of the store's owners/employee at a friend's house around Thanksgiving and was very impressed by the work she did to decorate my friend's home and by the centerpiece that was supplied. I've lived in Lake Forest for over 22 years and have never used Lake Forest Flowers, but based on what I saw at my friends I stopped in for an item yesterday, two days before Christmas. While I was inside, a mom and her young daughter came in because the daughter's name matched the name posted outside the store to receive a free rose. (Each day the store has a different name posted on a sign outside offering a free rose.) Instead of a pleasant exchange where I saw a very young girl presented with a rose, I saw a very disheartening exchange between the store's employees and the mom that has left me still angry nearly 24 hours later. When the mom told an employee the daughter's name she was asked for ID, not the ID of the mom, but the ID of the child to prove her name. The mom said that the daughter was 8 years old and had no ID. Employee asked for school ID, mom said the daughter attended a private school and they don't issue ID (I can confirm because my kid's attended the same school). The employee even went so far as to ask for proof of the child's name on a social media account. The mom said she's 8, she doesn't have social media, and she said she doesn't post her kids' names on her personal social media accounts. I was absolutely stunned by this exchange. A mom brings in her 8 year old child to get a free rose and is being refused because she can't provide proof of the child's name! A different employee says that it states on the sign outside that ID is required because they have people who abuse the free rose giveaway, but for an 8 year old?! So the mom offers to buy the rose, but the employees continue asking questions so she simply leaves with her daughter. On my way out I went to talk to the mom, but a man from the florist was already talking to her while she was in her car trying to leave. I don't know if she ever received the rose, but today I will be returning the items that I purchased. I can't even look at them without being angry. After 22 years I stop in for the first time and it'll be my last after what I saw happen to an 8 year old girl and her mom two days before Christmas. read more

Their online selection is huge. The arrangements are classy, with lots of greens to flesh out the flowers. But it's pointless to describe the beauty of flowers, isn't it? You have to see them. You can order online but I wanted to talk to a person to make sure they got the card right, etc. The woman I spoke to was perfectly sweet. I placed an order over the phone at 3:30pm EST for a huge bouquet of flowers that I was able to get delivered on the same day (I think they close for business at 6:00pm EST)-- good thing for a procrastinator like me. The whole call was done in about 4 minutes. Best part, the recipient LOVED them. read more

Lake Forest Flowers: Snooty, Overpriced I stopped in Lake Forest Flowers today on my way to visit a relative who just had a baby. I am not familiar with Lake Forest, but while I was in the neighborhood, decided to stop in. I told the woman I was looking to bring a bouquet to a relative. She pointed to several pre-made arrangements over $70. I told her I was looking to spend more like $30. She suggested tulips. I said that sounded great. She grabbed two bunches, and then said, why don't we add two gerberas and two hyacinths? I said that sounded great. She came out with an arrangement - 2 tulips, 2 gerberas, 2 hyacinths. Where were all those tulips she brought back to the cutting room? I said it looked sparse. She asked if I could afford two more tulips. I said, please add five. I walked out of there $50 later and embarrassed of the very small bouquet. She cut the stems very short, and it looked like something I purchased at the grocery store for a few dollars. On top of that, the woman made me feel cheap. I was truly dissatisfied with my purchase and my experience. I buy flowers often enough to know you should be able to get more than 11 stems for $50 and feel proud of the bouquet you're giving. read more

Eileen was one of my favorite vendors to work with. She helped us achieve our vision for the wedding while keeping in our price range (they didn't have a minimum order requirement and we never felt pressured to spend more than we planned). Upon our first meeting, I told Eileen generally the feeling I wanted the space to have and she had some beautiful/unique ideas to bring our ideas to life. Her attention to detail, hard work and good taste was such a blessing to have for my wedding! She even came to the venue even though she was around 9 months pregnant to make sure everything was executed flawlessly, which it was!!!! My bouquets were absolutely gorgeous, as were the boutonnieres, and my center pieces and candle arrangements were gorgeous. I wouldn't have changed a thing. She completely got my vision and understood how to add value to my venue. One of my absolute favorite pieces was the garland for the head table. Absolutely incredible! As someone who knows close to nothing about flowers, but still blissfully loves them and wanted to have gorgeous flowers for her wedding, I am so lucky that my mother in law recommended I work with Eileen at Lake Forest Flowers! A quick look at their website, Facebook page, Instagram, or even the page here will show you what I can't in words--Eileen's arrangements are thoughtful, beautiful, unique, and timeless! What I can tell you beyond the photos is that Eileen really cares about the vision you have for your wedding. She was patient and helpful during our in-person floral meeting and able to imagine the things I had in mind despite my not knowing the words for anything. She also kept my husband's preferences in mind despite his being a typical guy just trying to avoid any frou-frouness. :-P Budget was an important point for us and Eileen made every cost very clear in her floral proposal, adjusting and readjusting as we decided against certain points while adding others later. She allowed additional flexibility with my mother in law and her friend kindly opting to deliver and set up flowers on the actual wedding day. Our desired look in the end was very simple with white and soft pink flowers and lots of greenery. We had lantern centerpieces for our tables with greenery and flowers instead of large floral arrangements. Everything was beautiful and unified across her every creation. We also had baby's breath for my hair and bridesmaids' hair which everyone loved. Also, I requested to have eucalyptus throughout everything, which she truly honored, and I think this added a wonderful soft fragrance to the entire day! Also, I was able to have peonies in my bouquet which are my FAVORITE but not at all in season! In the end, Eileen made a potentially stressful part of wedding planning SO easy and rewarding. Due to some miscommunication on our end, I ended up needing close to 250 flowers added on to our order last minute. DO NOT USE THIS FLORIST! I received flowers from this florist yesterday morning, red-orange asiatic lilies in a wooden basket. Of the 10 blooms that were opened, 5 of them were wrinkled, wilting, drying out and cracking. I called the store as the card that arrived said they have a 24 hour quality guarantee. The owner, John, said they must have been damaged in shipment. I repeated more than a few times that they looked to be past their peak, NOT damaged by shipment. He persisted, saying they were fresh and "just delivered to the store". I was not satisfied and again mentioned the 24 hour guarantee, to which he said to call back tomorrow and if they were not "better" then he would come out and take care of it. I called back this morning, as they were obviously still wilted and cracked, and didn't magically heal overnight. He said he would come out to replace them. John arrived, took the arrangement to his car and returned a few minutes later with the arrangement now full of a few red lilies and the remainder in WHITE lilies... clearly not what was ordered, and he never bothered to mention they would be replaced with another color. Additionally, every single bloom is completely closed. This must be the only way they can guarantee your flowers will be fresh. He handed me back the arrangement and rudely said to be sure to keep them full with water. He also stated that there was "nothing wrong with the other red-orange lilies and that is how they come". I told him if that's the case then we'll never use your company again (I will be calling the sender shortly to ensure they don't use them), and John just walked out the door. Never once did I receive an apology for the issue. Never once did they claim responsibility for the low quality product. And to be clear, I was more than polite in every communication I had hoping to receive a better result than I did. So... if you are planning on ordering from this florist, know that you can expect to receive your flowers past their peak bloom and receive very rude customer service when you ask them to make it right. I previously received an arrangement of orange roses from them a few months ago, and they also had the similar appearance of being beyond their peak bloom. I did not bother to call the first time, as I always allow one strike. However, after the horrible experience this time, I had to sign up for Yelp and share this review... I feel this store lives on the name and location. I used to sent a lot of flowers from them, but one of my friends told me that they deliver the flowers in large plastic bags that usually are used as garbage liners and it looks terrible. That is so embarrassing. I feel that we always get much less for the money at LF Flowers than if I buy somewhere else. Besides they always behave snobbish and condescending, and are experts at making you feel like an insignificant nuisance in their business. The last time I ordered a large bouquet for a friend (I don't think spending over $100 for a hostess gift is not nothing) I arrived at her house to find that she had received similar to what I could have bought at Costco for $20. Now, I use a florist from a neighboring town and I get much more for my money - and the flowers do not arrive in ugly garbage liners, but in reusable frost blankets that looks nicer and are better for the environment. Last time my husband ordered roses from them they were dead in 3 days, which I would have expected from Costco not from a so called quality florist. I really would like to use my local florist but I can't justify it with quality, price and service. read more
