It was an off day as the course was under some repairs/ maintenance it seems... but what really threw me was that when I asked for a band-aid for my bleeding finger I was told that it would be $3 for a pack of 3 bandaids... First time I've had to pay for a first aid item at a place I'm already paying to play at but to add salt to the wound here, the "3" pack was actually only 2 and they fell off immediately after I used them... felt like the band-aids were those sitting in the drawer for a while... Overall a nice place to practice the short game, but nothing spectacular. read more

This is an amazing par three and golf range. I happen to get their membership. Which includes 100 balls a day on the golf range, with one hour of track man. Trackman is pretty cool if you're unfamiliar with it, it keeps track of how far you hit the ball. Similar to what Topgolf does. As far as the course, it is a nine hole. And I do have to say they are pretty challenging. Now I am a novice with that being said. But it's different from your other par three golf courses they do have two par fours I believe and they are pretty challenging. One you have to for a river to get to the ninth hole. I love this place, I used to have a membership here, and my only gripe is that I moved away and I can no longer have this awesome membership. read more

Nice walkable par-3 course with great practice ranges because they have both grass ranges and mats. The "grass" ranges don't seem to be maintained so you're hitting off dirt more than grass, if you're there at night the range isn't lit too well either, so you'll lose sight of the balls once they're in the air. The grass range is separate from the mats and they're over on the far left by the parking lot. As for the mats, they are on the bottom deck under the "ground floor" range near the pro shop. Putting green is also nice here. Overall, LFG is good for practice or a quick par 3! read more

I love coming to lake forest to either play at the driving range or on the course! I appreciate that this course is more affordable than some courses I've played at. I also appreciate it's a 9 hole course, if you don't necessarily want to play a full length course. They have a nice putting green for you to practice your putting after. I arranged for my three sons and my husband to play golf on the 21st of June for my husband's Father's Day gift. It's not easy getting everyone together as there were many moving parts, getting babysitters , getting work off and things like that. They got to the golf course and apparently there was a tournament going on and there was a couple of groups of 12 in front of them. The foursome ahead of them and the foursome behind them, as well as my guys all had to leave the course because they literally stood there and waited for 24 golfers ahead of them to complete their holes. They finally all ended up walking off of the course at the 2nd hole. . My son called the manager from the course on the first hole to tell him what was going on and all he told him was "yeah it's a tournament." Bottom line is do not Schedule a tournament at the same time as allowing others to book tee times. They should block out the course for a couple of hours to complete their tournament. I got up at midnight the week before to book that teetime because it was my gift to my husband for his Father's Day. His Father's Day gift was completely ruined and they all just had to leave the course and didn't even get to play golf together I proceeded to call the lake Forest golf center and I left two separate messages and I never received a call back from anyone. Clearly they don't care. All they care about is booking their teetimes and it doesn't matter what anybody's experiences are. Shame on them for ruining My husband's Father's Day gift spending the day with his boys. Even worse, shame on them for not returning a call to discuss it. read more

I am just starting to venture into golf. Played 9 holes with friends who are beginners like me for $20 per person on a Monday. The course was crowded and had groups playing at each hole so there can be some wait time in between. Most of the holes have short distances, ranging from 60 to 95 yards except for Hole 5 and Hole 9 (200+ yards). I like that there is a bit of a challenge with the surrounding water along the course. I lost 4 balls in the water! Luckily, I brought extras. Overall, I had fun and wouldn't mind coming back to see if I get better on the course.   PS. Definitely bring an umbrella during summer days since there is no shade throughout the course. read more

We hosted our daughter's 11th birthday party here and it was absolutely fantastic. The kids had so much fun and the best part was that it was SO easy as the hosting parents. Dave and his team took such great care of us and were extremely attentive. We rented the lounge to host our group before and after our round of footgolf and I'm so glad that we did. It was nice to have a home base for the kids to gather before and after. Couldn't have asked for a better experience. Would definitely recommend for birthday parties if you're looking for something new/fun to do. Thank you SO much to Dave, Sandy and Chef Chris for taking such great care of us! read more

They say they close at 10, apparently they close ann hour earlier. Golf balls are crap, you have to pay for a membership to use their trackman that's not said anywhere until you wait an hour to get on one, you have to pay extra to chip, the balls are $22. You can go to Tijeras Creek, an actually nice establishment and get a large for $20 and use their trackman for free and it has way more versatility. The mats are falling apart here, you have to provide your own rubber tees, the range looks like the most ghetto version of a practice center you could possibly see. Don't waste your time or money coming here. As a professional golfer that was in the area to practice for an upcoming tournament and found it online, I can honestly say it was the worst experience I've had at a golf center in 30 years of playing. read more

Tip: Don't bother paying around 4pm. They don't have staff manning it so people are just hopping in randomly. Groups of 8, people showing up 30min late harassing you to let them go first cause their tee time was first even though you were on time, and people playing soccer while you're hitting. No one to settle these disputes and enforce anything, so don't waste your money and just come out and enjoy a free beautiful 9 hole! We definitely called the shop to let them know and they said there wasn't anything they can do about, so really free golf!!! read more

Positive things about the facility are: excellent putting green that is well maintained, nice little 9-hole pitch and put course if you're a beginning golfer or junior. There are plenty of hitting stations on the driving range. The new Trackman feature is a nice addition and fun to use. The daily large bucket is a nice Players Club feature if you plan on going there alot. Negative things: the grass driving range (which is my primary reason for coming here) is not maintained at all. By the end of June each year it is nothing more than dirt and crabgrass, completely unusable. The sand traps in the chipping area are always wet, even on very hot days. The driving range is all dirt and will be shut down for a couple days after just about any amount of rain. The limited number of Trackman stalls can be used by anyone whether they are using the Trackman feature or not, which can impact availability. The Players Club fees have been rising consistently over the last few years, up to $69 a month this year. This is probably due to the addition of the Trackman stalls. read more

My wife has a membership so I usually tag along for the driving range practice. The membership itself is $60/month and you get a bucket of large golfballs for free daily. This really saves money considering a single bucket of large balls cost $17 so you make your money back as long as you come once a week! They also have "Trackman" driving programs which will tell you your stats and how you did. The membership also includes a discount on the 9 hole golf course which can be completed easily in 1-2 hours. FYI if it rains or the day after rain, it might not be open so just be aware. read more

This place just can't seem to get it right. Let's start with two recent increases in their membership-despite a complete closure for several days every time it sprinkles! The members must've paid for the SUV in the middle of one of the grass patches at the 200 yd (ish) mark. Periodically - to coincide with fee increases, members get to go into the pro-shop and have their range ball key re-programmed. Mr. Manager - is it to get customers into the pro-shop? Or better yet, let's be somewhat of a manger, think ahead and add extra staff at peak hours, so the poor kid behind the counter doesn't have a line of 20 people deep. You might please your customers (somewhat) despite being a part time, closed when it rains, dirt field of a practice facility. Yes, I am aware it's a basin, but certainly-something can be done to improve this facility. New management!!! read more

One of the few publicly available driving ranges in Orange County that also, conveniently, includes a fun little par 3 course. Staff is always friendly and the range has some nice technology features to improve efficiency and help analyze your shots. While they have a good number of practice pads, including grass, the facility is often crowded and finding a space during peak hours can be challenging. read more

I played nine holes with my father today and decided to look at this neighborhood golf and practice range for hackers like me. I am upgrading the review to include the overall value. This place has some of the nicest players. The greens are pretty decent. The fairways are not well maintained but definitely not dangerous to players! The $10 - $13 per nine holes is very reasonable for fairly decent golf course that has pitching and putting green as well as nighttime lighted practice range. I will upgrade my recent review from three stars to four stars. read more

Staff: Young man inside was very nice. I needed to borrow a left handed club as I did not have one at the time. He was more than happy to loan me one. Value: $17 for a large bucket of balls seems a bit steep, but I haven't been to a range in many years so maybe this is normal. You can either pay each time inside or join membership and get a card for the machine (see photo). Quality: Mats we're in good condition, but no tees which is a disappointment, and unfortunately no shade. I would absolutely love to give this course a higher score. The staff is great, always been incredibly friendly and helpful to me. But whoever owns the course really needs to get involved with this. For one the course itself needs a total overhaul of its fairways to get rid of all the weeds and dirt patches. This would help make the tee boxes actually serviceable. There actually needs to be course rangers at all times actively moving groups along. I've also seen far too many groups of five and six somehow playing thru and just last week they rented out their "clubhouse" for a party (which is fine) but let at least a group of 10 of them play the course as one group while still reserving times for the public! And their mats on the range have to be changed more often, they're so busy that it doesn't take long for grooves to get worn in. The membership plan makes this place an incredible value, but it still needs ownership to take care of the details to really make this an awesome executive course. read more

They recently raised prices for founding members by 10 USD while non founding members were only increased by 5. This is a terrible value considering the course is usually in bad condition. Came here to the driving range on a Sunday morning. Service: Went inside to get a large basket of balls. Staff were extremely helpful! They help my brother also rent a club. $17 for large basket and $5 to rent a club. A bit on the pricier side for the balls but the service overall was great. Facility: we were able to find a spot pretty easily at around 9am but by 10am it got packed. There isn't shade on the upper level so make sure you bring a hat and wear sunscreen. The driving range has a few targets. Nothing that wowed me but had everything I needed. Golf balls are worn out but they do the job. I like this golf course. It is within 5 miles from where I live. It is multi level. The bottom floor area is a bit ghetto but does it job for hitting balls. The upper level is better fresh air and you get the fancy machine that tells you how your hit was. I have yet to try that one though. All in all, I've been here a few times and will definitely go again. Good to go! read more

Review from having ~2+ years of the LF Golf Membership. There aren't many public golf facilities in south OC. You're either going to Rancho San Joaquin or this location. This location has a lot more bays to hit from and parking is better here as well. Just avoid coming here around 6-9pm as that's when it's the busiest. More often than not, the tractor that collects the balls breaks down here and as a result there's a line going all the way back to the parking lot. Expect to wait at least 30 minutes to get your bucket of balls. During the winter months, this place closes for about 2-3 weeks every time it rains for the water to dry up on the muddy driving range. You end up paying for a membership that you can't really utilize for about a few weeks sometimes even a month. That being said there are still some pros about having this LF membership: 1. 9 hole access for $8. You can't beat that. Not the greatest condition, but the greens and bunkers are usually in pretty good condition. When it rains heavily though, you're not able to access holes 6-9 because of the flooding. The tee boxes here are horrendous though. 2. Discounted green fees around OC. This was one of the main reasons I kept the membership. Expect to save around $13-$20~ per round 3. Plenty of practice bays as long as you don't come during peak hours like I mentioned before. 4. Pay $2-3 to practice on grass or chipping. If this location didn't have their tractors break down so frequently and did something about the muddy range condition during the winter months (e.g. install artificial turf in the driving range) I would consider keeping my membership. Compared to Rancho San Joaquin and other ranges, this place opens up about 5 days or a week later than other ranges. I don't really play the 9 hole anymore either, so I'll be cancelling my membership here. I'm thankful for this practice center over the years, but I'll be spending my money elsewhere. read more

I have a membership here -$64.98- You would imagine that they have enough revenue that they could at least have all the lights working on the golf course- especially during winter. Hole 1 you can barely see your ball when teeing off. Hole 2 you can barely see the flag or where your ball goes at all- two of the three lights are out.... Hole 5 has one light out when you're teeing off again. Not only is this not fun to play while you cant see anything-this poses a serious tripping hazard it should be fixed immediately. read more

I previously wrote a negative review due to the fact that I could not bring my child onto this course and was informed by the starter. What I failed to mention was when making this reservation online, the "terms & agreement" had a specific clause on "minors on course", which would've been applicable in my situation. This was on me as I didn't read the T&A...thus, I am TA. Otherwise, wanted to mention again that the course has improved a lot. Front desk at the Proshop & Starters have always been friendly; greens have improved drastically as well, especially on hole 9 where leaves are frequently removed. Can't complain for the price you pay for the membership and green fees. read more

The membership includes a large bucket everyday and also gives you discounted tee times at the 9 hole course. It's a great course for those looking to practice their short game. The membership is super affordable & you'll break even if buy 3 buckets. Honestly one of the best deals out there! They just installed new trackmans as well so you can practice while seeing all of your stats. The course & the driving range all well maintained and the staff here is incredible. Everyone is super courteous and the customer experience is fantastic. Never thought I'd say this about any golf course but $19 for 9 holes was actually overpriced. That's how bad the condition of this course was. There's hardly anywhere in the tee box that was still grass and there was goose poop throughout the entire course and especially bad on the greens. My husband got me into golf during COVID and now I can't stop playing. We frequent the Lake Forest golf course every month or so and it's always a great time. It's a 9-hole so we're in and out in just a couple hours. Booking a tee time is super easy online and there's usually a good amount of time slots open on weekend mornings, when we like to go. The golf course is pretty well maintained for the most part, but some areas are super muddy and slippery, so watch out! There are also always a bunch of geese everywhere. I've definitely almost hit a few, not intentionally of course, but they're kind of hard to miss. Now if I can only get my ball to go over the creek on hole 9...... read more

DON'T PLAY SOCCER GOLF. I Wish I could give 0 stars. The course is a mess out there. The soccer golf and normal golf mix together so you have to wait for the golfers to tee off before you can even get to the soccer golf tee box, usually the soccer golf tee box is off to the side. We kept clashing with groups and had to figure out how to play through or wait. People ended up leaving by the last hole cause of the wait. Also, I accidentally booked a tee time for the day before, and just be warned that this course is so desperate for your money that they don't forgive any accidental no-show mistakes and I got charged a fee for basically the whole round. First timer. Short, 9-hole course they can be easily played in under 2 hours with a party of 4. As easy as it may appear, it's rather tough requiring accuracy as there's a lot of bunkers. Leave your driver and hybrids home and use your irons. I played with a pitching and sand wedge, a 7 iron and a putter. This place gets packed and you may encounter a wait for the next whole, but it goes pretty fast. Will return and recommend. read more
