I found a…read morebeautiful large tote bag/handbag, a set of 4 vintage grape patterned nesting bowls with lids, a gorgeous ceramic bunny rabbit, a vintage tube cake pan like my mother had, three pair of earrings, a lovely cheese dome with a very unusual shape, a stylish and somewhat shabby chic hanging jewelry hanger for earrings and necklaces, a yellowware bowl and a vintage usa bowl, probably circa 1900's. What a haul! and all for less than 100 bucks! I will be returning again soon! Love this place!

When you first go in you may not notice the opening to the larger back room; make sure you check it out because there's a lot of good furniture back there. Prices seemed very reasonable and the owners were very willing to discuss. I didn't buy anything today, but based on my conversation with them I'm willing to bet that they're happy to do some "wheeling and dealing". I'll definitely stop back in there the next time I'm going through Roanoke Rapids.

The owner has a fantastic collection ranging from large furniture pieces to small trinkets and paper items, and there's something that should satisfy most antique tastes. Parking is a bit tight, but I'm guessing that the Norlina constabularies aren't too fussy about someone parking on the shoulder or in a neighboring street. I scored a nice brass railroad lock there for $25, and I'll definitely be back on my next drive through that area.

I travel with…read moremy dog so I called first to see if it was okay if she could go inside with me (I didn't want to leave her out in the car since the weather was 90 degrees). The wonderful woman who answered the phone said it was okay as long as the other customers were okay with it and they all were! The really cool items to me is all the old cigarettes and cigars, there are literally thousands here along with lighters, etc. He has just about everything, many items from the 8o's, but just as much from whenever. It's worth the drive, when you see his sign, you must follow the 1/2 mile stone driveway all the way to the back. Mr Raeford's is very entertaining and kind. No prices on anything, he's a bit old fashioned and you need to throw out a number less than you are willing to pay. He has just about everything imaginable. i should have taken more photos of all the different buildings, his place is highly organized even though it appears random.

Sometimes the jaded part of me wonders why I stop by places like this when I expect I'm going to…read morefind the usual flotsam. It's nice to know my jaded self can still be surprised. I like the Treasure Shoppe. Although it carries some of the expected things, they're so reasonably priced I felt like I was stealing them when I got the total at the register. There's a little bit of everything here and it's all mixed together so I had no choice but to take time looking at everything. Treasure Shoppe has quite a few handmade goods from locals: jewelry, soaps, and miscellaneous decorative items. I wish I knew how people came up with these simple, yet creative ideas. When I saw the handmade knit shawls (and hats), I nearly bought everything they had -- the price was so incredibly low, there's no way the person who knit those is making a profit. They weren't made of the lightweight yarn using large knitting needles either, it was the heavyweight yarn, made with smaller needles that create a garment meant for warmth, not frills. The ladies that work here are incredibly friendly, chatty, and sweet -- everything you'd expect. Except for the guilty feeling I had for walking out with some cute things for a bargain price, I had fun exploring and look forward to doing so again.
