We would recommend going through the house to everybody. It is worth the $5 per adult cash only fee that you pay to get a tour of the house. It's also $3 for kids cash only to go through the house. The young lady that did the tour was also dressed in historical attire. It is also worth going to see both cemeteries that are near the house as well and are a short hike from the house in opposite directions. The hike to the two cemeteries is worth doing on a nice day.

We stayed three nights at EC and had a relaxing and enjoyable visit. All the employees were very friendly and welcomed/ thanked us for visiting. The park has a nice swimming pool, mini-golf, playground, and pavilion. On Saturday evening they had live music and a food truck. Overall, the sites are spacious, especially the ones along the creek. The creek side sites are all paved pads, level, and FHU. These sites seem to be newly renovated compared to the non-creek sites. Water pressure was very good and consistent electricity throughout our stay. The one minus is the poor WIFI. A for purchase upgrade was available, but the free WIFI was very limited. The bathhouse is very nice, clean and modern. We were fortunate to have a buddy site (#9) with our friends and it was an amazing location. Common fire pit and plenty of room to spread out. The creek flowing behind the site was very relaxing and we wish we could have stayed longer. I highly recommend Elkhorn Creek and we will stay here the next time we visit the Lexington area. FYI- The campground is only 5 miles from Buffalo Trace.

Originally we received a 15% discount for booking a week -long stay. When we went to the office to extend one more night, not only would the lady not honor the 15% off discount on the additional night, she very rudely refused to even apply a 10% Good Sam club discount. The logic escapes me!! If the extra night did not qualify as part of the original stay, then the extra night is, in my opinion, a new reservation which should have qualified for the Good Sam discount!! I have never been spoken to so rudely, and by someone in a supposed "customer service" role!! Really very unprofessional!!

The gardens and grounds are especially beautiful -- I can't imagine a better place for a wedding. The old growth trees provide plenty of shade, making even those hot summer weddings tolerable. Location is great as well -- Bardstown Rd and Cherokee Park are just a short drive away.

Wow! Wow! Wow! Two…read moreof my dearest friends tied the knot recently, and I cannot fathom a better venue for their wedding. With the wedding day scheduled for a Saturday, the bridal party and groomsmen were able to leave gowns, beauty products, suits, and overnight bags in our rooms the Friday before upon completing the rehearsal. This allowed for an easy situation to walk in to on the morning of the wedding as we prepared for the ceremony later that afternoon. The house was built in the mid 1800s and has been kept within the family since then. The current owners, Kim and Chaz, take great pride in the house and were extremely accommodating towards our group. They were on hand throughout Saturday to answer any questions. As a history nerd, I loved speaking with them more on the history of the house and the surrounding gardens (that were stunningly beautiful in September) as I snuck a cigarette on the back porch during the reception. When the bride & groom booked the venue, they were also able to secure accommodations for the bridal party. Considering that all five of the bridesmaids live over an hour away, it made for the perfect place to crash post reception. Our two flower girls had a ball exploring the house and spent the night as well with no problem. To top off the magical wedding weekend, Kim and Chaz prepared coffee and breakfast on Sunday morning for the guests that spent the night. I highly recommend considering Midlane Farm as a special events venue. The service we received certainly deserves five stars!

Amenities? Every amenity you can imagine! Comfort? "Holy crap" level of comfort. Views? Gorgeous rolling hills in every direction. Horses next door! If you think you have seen darkness, drive the streets in LaGrange, KY at night. You ain't seen BLACK if you haven't see it here. So take a walk out in the enormous back yard and look at stars. You didn't know there were this many stars! And for a bite, there is The One Nineteen Restaurant (See my other Yelp review) only two and a half miles away. Our only regret about P&P is that we could only stay one night. Next time we will plan around spending several days here. This place is a destination in and of itself!

I surprised my wife with a trip to the Pillow & Paddock for her birthday. Not knowing what to…read moreexpect, but based on positive reviews, I finally clued her in as we approached Louisville. Once we arrived, we knew we were in for a special weekend! Francesca and her husband were perfect hosts. Starting from the welcome emails I got, with suggestions for activities while we were there, to follow up emails asking if we had any special requests or needs. We stayed in the Gatsby room, which was elegantly furnished, and very peaceful. Next to our room was the community pantry, stocked with drinks, snacks, games, movies, and books if you desired. There were 3 other couples staying in the Inn while we were there, so we got to know them over the course of our weekend at meals and just relaxing around the house. Each room was tastefully decorated and unique, and the grounds were just lovely. We were treated to a delicious breakfast each morning, complete with coffee and fresh juice. I had responded to Francesca's email about a dietary restriction, and she made sure to supplement my meals so I wouldnt miss anything. I appreciated the extra attention, eve though I did not require anything special. Saturday night, we were lucky enough to enjoy dinner at the Paddock as well. Again, dinner was fantastic, and the company was even better. We really enjoyed laughing around the dinner table, and appreciating the laid back atmosphere that the hosts created. Sunday before we left, we got to spend some time chatting with the Innkeepers about their lives, and I could really see how much they care about each other and their guests. They truly enjoy the business, and meeting new people each week. If we find ourselves in LaGrange, KY again, or find that we could use a weekend away, the Pillow and Paddock will surely be on our short list. We celebrated my husband's 90th birthday with a Kentucky River Tour, along with our daughter, who…read morewas visiting from Denver, CO, with her teenage daughter. Our daughter had spent part of her growing-up years here in Frankfort, where my husband and I have lived for 50+ years. She enjoys introducing her Colorado daughter to the beautifully forested, living beauty of Kentucky's natural world. Before departing the dock, we enjoyed browsing in the gift shop, with a great assortment of caps, tee shirts, memorabilia, and some Ale8! Upon boarding the boat, the crew offered a bourbon service that would rival most any local selection. We all enjoyed lovely bourbon refreshments! Together with visitors from Tennessee and other nearby states, we learned some Kentucky River geography and history, along with equine, bourbon, and horse racing history. The captain was skillful and knowledgeable, as she cruised the riverboat on the sunny Sunday afternoon. The tour guide was a true font of history with amusing anecdotes of his personal career in the bourbon industry and his overall knowledge of the Commonwealth. Treat yourself, your family and your friends to an altogether enjoyable, educational, and Kentucky-based adventure-- spend some time on the riverboat! You'll be glad you did! He was friendly, engaging and humorous. The round trip ride lasted about 90 minutes. The boat was very nice with bench seating and the ride was smooth. We sat upstairs in the open air to enjoy to scenery. A bar tender will take drink orders and deliver beverages to your seats. Drink prices are reasonable. Drinks can also be ordered and purchased on line. (I think snacks were also available). We booked our cruise several months in advance with tour and tasting tickets at Buffalo Trace Distillery. Two members of our party backed out and we were able to cancel their reservations (thankfully) the week before and get a refund. We started with our visit to Buffalo Trace. We arrived about an hour early so we could shop at the distillery and we were glad we did because we did not have time to shop after the tasting and getting to the boat. The tight timeline between the tasting and the boat departure was the only downside to the trip. I recommend the cruise, but plan on going at least an hour early to the distillery to shop.

The home is an incredible historic building on the iconic St James Court street in Old Louisville. The street is gorgeous and the Inn is right in the heart of it, right by all the beautiful fountains and blooming trees of early spring. There's a small patio on the front porch that, during nicer weather, you can sit and take it all in. My room was VERY comfortable, with a huge plush king sized bed, a spacious bathroom with heated towels, and stocked with toiletries and small bathroom appliances. I was only in town for 30 hours for a work event and by the time I got back to the inn that night I was EXHAUSTED. I slept like a baby. So much so that I slept right up until I had to leave for my flight the next morning, meaning I missed the included breakfast. But the offerings sounded fantastic. Pat is a wonderful, gracious, and warm host. I'd recommend a stay here in a heartbeat and look forward to my return.
