I'm lucky to have been towed to Lake Mac Auto Body & Paint when my car radiator got a gash from hitting the largest raccoon I've seen in my life on I-80 in the wee hours on Memorial Day weekend. I'm a single female, traveling alone out of state en route to a biking vacation in Utah. I had never had an auto accident yet in my life, had no experience with insurance issues and a disabled car when out of state, and was distraught because I was traveling with a cat and couldn't rent a car and drive on. I had good reason to fear my car was ruined from overheating as well as the front end damage, because after hitting the raccoon, I thought the car was fine and I drove on at high speed on a hot night. My car went into disabled mode from overheating when the coolant drained out of the radiator. I saw the coolant needle go past the hottest mark on the gauge and there was no coolant at all. Jenny in the front office was calming and led me through the estimate process where my insurance adjuster was supposed to contact the shop so they could get started with repairs. Kevin got me scheduled immediately when they opened to get started on mechanical and body repairs...but what I valued most at that time was the relaxed friendliness and complete lack of fear-mongering that I had experienced with auto shops in my life previously, and that I encountered at another shop I contacted in Ogallala before I got to talk to the people at Lake Mac, because at first, I wasn't sure if Lake Mac did mechanical repair as well as body repair. They do have mechanics onsite as well as body work. The next great feature at this shop was the selection of late model loaner cars. Kevin mentioned I might enjoy using the pickup truck so I could just throw my bike in the back and bike the road around Lake Ogallala. That was a great idea and contributed to my enjoyment of my time in Ogallala. I was impressed with the many large bays and the cleanliness of the repair bays, rivaling what you'd see at a dealership. That reminds me of another neat thing: Lake Mac Auto works seamlessly with the local dealership. My car needed a portion of its repair at the dealership, and I expected I'd have to pay them a couple hundred dollars and that it would create more delays, but that step was scheduled and done in just a few hours and back at Lake Mac Auto. The quality of the repair is perfect. I drove home 620 miles with no issues, no wind sounds, no overheating, nothing suggesting the car was any different than before. The parts are installed perfectly and the right color. The speed of repair was awesome. I couldn't believe how quickly they got the right parts for my unusual model of a car, even after I forgot to warn them it was a "2009.5" model, something you don't expect to see. Another thing I really enjoyed was the respect accorded me even though my car is 9 years old. Being female with an older car can evoke a bit of disdain from some auto repair establishments, in my experience. None of that attitude was anywhere in sight at Lake Mac Auto Body. The motto at Lake Mac Auto says you can relax at Lake Mac Auto, and that's really true. I left Ogallala with a light heart because the repair cost, speed, service and quality was actually the best I've ever encountered in my life. To add to my last review since they finally commented back. We FINALLY got our vehicle back, the front bumper paint didn't match the rest of the car. Which it was in a bad accident so I understand it's not going to be the same. So we went to turn our car in the dealership did a full inspection and found that it had frame damage! This over priced small town shop that boosts friendly service put me into a car with Fran damage. Worst experience of being in my first car accident. And body shop ever read more

I cannot honestly thank Lake Mac Auto enough for all they did for me. This company goes way beyond the call, I think. I'll give the details: My friend and I hit a raccoon on I-80 about 3 hours into an 18 hour drive for a week-long vacation. We were taken to Lake Mac by Ken's Towing (a friendly local service with nice helpful people). The store manager, Debbie, immediately began detailing each step of what was about to happen - the discussions with insurance, the process of auto claim, and giving us reassurances that everything would be done as rapidly and correctly as possible. This was my first auto accident and I was in shock and terrified. Debbie pointed out the issue with the car (the radiator and front bumper), and started taking pictures. To my utter shock, she then told us we could take a loaner car to finish going to visit my family - in WISCONSIN. This wasn't even a local matter - we were given this loaner car for an entire week to be driven three states over. While on vacation, I remained in contact with Lake Mac pretty much every day. Debbie or Kevin answered the phone each time and detailed whatever was going on - if the adjuster had arrived, what the damage was to my car, etc. I never had to leave a message - there was always someone there and they were very patient with me and my questions. Debbie also detailed everything wrong with the car, giving me the estimate and explaining the cost of each item. The adjuster arrived a week later (no fault of Lake Mac's, this was my insurance) - after my vacation was over and after I had to go to work. Again to my surprise, Debbie allowed me to keep the loaner car beyond the vacation - driving it all the way back from Wisconsin to my home in Colorado. And then I used it around town. The only unfortunate thing to happen with the loaner was that the battery (which had been the original battery with the car) died. Lake Mac quickly provided a credit card over the phone to buy a new battery - and the car was good as new. Three weeks after we hit the raccoon, we finally brought the loaner back to Lake Mac. Once the adjuster actually arrived on the scene and my insurance agreed to the amount, Lake Mac performed the repairs quickly and efficiently. We only hit one hiccup - a blinker bulb was damaged during repairs and we had to take it back (we discovered the problem in the city, proof that you should always test out all aspects of your car before leaving the city it was repaired in). They fixed the bulb with sincere apologies. It's now been four days and my car is running absolutely perfect. I don't live in Ogallala but this is DEFINITELY where I would take my car if it was damaged anywhere near the city. The staff is incredibly friendly and very customer-oriented. They are patient, they do their jobs, and they are worth it. read more
