We did the yellow trail. Difficulty level in my opinion was easy but on our way back, we took the adventurous route which was more of a medium difficulty because you had to be on an uphill climb for quite a bit. Overall, I would classify the hike as easy. It's way too cold so neither of us swam. Because it is a longer hike, we didn't take our dog with us but we saw several while on the trail. If your dog is older than ours (8 months, super slow due to being easily distracted) I highly recommend taking them on the trail. The beach is dog friendly as well. Just make sure to pick up after them. Beautiful view of the lake and overall. I would definitely come back again (and hopefully with Miss Birdie next time)!

It is so peaceful and relaxing, There are usually a dozen or more vehicles parked so I know others enjoy watching the waves too, In the summer we enjoy the beach, wading and swimming. All year round you can watch a beautiful sunset. There are good views of Big Red from the park. It is nice that you can park very close to the beach, so if there is anyone is unable to walk longer distances this is the perfect place. The only drawback is that dogs aren't allowed on the beach.

The park area includes a playground, reservable picnic shelters, volleyball courts, a bathroom, and changing rooms. A parking fee is in effect Memorial Day through Labor Day and must be paid via a kiosk by the bathroom. When we visited it was $8 per vehicle. You can get a non-resident annual permit for $25, or for Ottawa County residents it's $15. The Michigan Recreation Passport (that allows free entry into Michigan State Parks) is not valid for this parking fee since it's a county park. There is a small set of stairs to get down to the beach past the tunnel (a great photo op). We were able to find a spot near the water and the lake felt wonderful. It's not the clearest water here, but it was so refreshing and the beach itself was clean. I loved being at this beach and my friends and I are already talking about planning our next visit.

Once you park, go to one of the two machines to pay to park. There is a playground, bathrooms and outdoor shower to rinse off. Follow the path for a short walk and you will see the tunnel that leads to the beach. This is a cool photo op! Walk through the tunnel, down the stairs and there is the beach! This beach is clean and nice! On the days I have been here it doesn't get overly crowded and there is plenty of soace to spread out. The water is nice and depending on the day can be a but cold. We usually bring a lunch and some drinks as there are no concessions. Also, no lifeguards. If you want some shade you will need to bring your own umbrella or tent. Each year we go to Michigan I look forward to going to tunnel oark for the amazing beach time!

The windmill is surrounded by pretty gardens and a range of small houses/buildings/cottages with dioramas and shops. There is also a carousel (only for children), and an organ (with periodic demonstrations). The windmill was imported several decades ago from the Netherlands - the history was narrated to us by a staff member in a Dutch costume. She was exceptionally friendly and answered our questions with wit and humour. The mechanics of the windmill were fascinating, and one could go up five storeys (each floor had its own equipment and explanations), though not right up to the top. The windmill is surrounded by beautiful gardens with a variety of flowers. It was fun to stroll around the gardens and visit the gift shop. The blue and white jewellery at the gift shop was particularly stunning. There is also free cheese available- some of the varieties were quite unusual. Four stars because while the windmill itself was interesting and the gardens lovely, there is nothing much to really do. Overall a pleasant experience but not sure if I will visit again.

The pond and walkways were so nice. You can walk all the way around the island if you like. The small bridge was a perfect spot for photos. Of course the main attraction is the windmill. The ladies working the bottom were so sweet and friendly. We walked up to the top. Each floor had something to offer. Once at the top, we went out on the balcony to enjoy a gorgeous view. Our last stop was the huge musical machine. It added such whimsy. We really enjoyed our visit.

I was quite amazed but not surprised seeing how lovely everything is! The flowers were all in bloom, no random trash, grass green and freshly mowed, and trash receptacle can be found spaced out enough that there should not be a reason for anyone not to walk the short distance to throw away their trash. I love the water fountain area surrounded by a variety of flowers in bloom. My pup loved her stroll, too. The park is very well shaded with trees and magnificent vegetation throughout. I regretted not spending more time there as there are quite a bit of benches located throughout the park to sit and enjoy the view from. This is my second visit to this park and I am more and more impressed every time. Great job city of Holland and those who takes great care of the park!

The statues, flowers and greenery all come together to create a lovely oasis in the city. The fountains and gazebo add to the charm. Even better, there is an ordering booth where you can order bulbs for your own flower beds. You can tour the tulip beds and decide which bulbs are your favorites, and then order at the booth. New this year is a small playground for children.

They have some plaques around that I encourage you to read. This was a roadside attraction several decades ago that fell into disrepair. The local community rallied to save it by fundraising, then rebuilding it from community members. How sweet is that? That's the kinda thing that gives you hope for humanity. Food wise, it was good! I literally drink soda about once a decade, so this was it for the 2020s for me. I feel like you kinda have to get root beer at the root beer barrel, right? My kids had never had root beer, and they were more into the orange soda my wife got. I got a Chicago hot dog which is always a treat. My kid loves brats and devoured hers, and we enjoyed the nice picnic tables on a pleasant mid-July day. Spot that gets hyped, and to me is worth it and carries distinction beyond just a touristy roadstop.

D - swarmed by Bees before we could even taste the root beer to find out how bad it was. Cool location and the mugs are a nice keepsake but that's about it.
