It's not that close to the lake but they have a pool and hot tub. It's a lot of big rigs but they allow some of slummers lol but your camper must be 10 yrs old or less and the older ones must send a picture to be approved Nice big lots and cement pads Fire pits are slightly behind your spot and lots of room. They do have permanent sites and they have their own pool and clubhouse. They pick up your garbage every morning. On weekends they sometimes have music and food that you have to pre order. We did not par take. EVERYONE was so nice and friendly. EXCEPT FOR THE OLD GUY THAT GOT OUT OF THE POOL TO CLIP HIS TOE NAILS AND LEFT THEM NEXT TO HIS CHAIR AT THE POOL‍ Lots of dogs which I loved! Sunny Brook crossed our radar so we booked 3 nights at an owners site. As life would have it, we need to cut our trip short for a family (eldery parents) situation for 2 nights, instead of 3, at Sunny Brook. Elaine explained to us, very firmly and matter of factly, that they will nor refund or give consideration for the 3rd night. As avid RVers, I find that odd. We are not in the habit of reducing our trips or canceling but, I find the matter of fact-Ness and non consideration unappealing.

Grand Haven State Park is a Sandy beach location full of young adults and some…read morefamilies that play volleyball, fly kites, walk the pier, and wear itty bitty bikinis while frying in the sun. I had the privilege to change in the bathroom, where a gaggle of girls walked in talking loudly about making out with different boys and hooking up. When I came out of the stall, these young looking women were in their thong bikinis adjusting their makeup and deciding what they were planning to do next. I remember being their age, but I don't remember bragging about my sexual conquests. Are these the spoils of feminism? Objectifying and gaining body counts like some frat boy club? I suppose if it is, the beach is a good place for it and Grand Haven does have a storied history of late night cruising to pick up walkers along the strip. I remember in my youth listening to our CD player jam to Eminem and Chronic 2001 while we cruised the strip being "cool" and admiring people's car kits with hydraulics and black lit lighting. I remember thinking cut off shorts and a bikini top were revealing then. I suppose, culture keeps pushing the limits and I should just be happy that people are still wearing something over their private parts. Right? My family did love the huge kites. My children loved playing in the waves. Parking can be a bear, but once you find a spot most things are within walking distance including an interesting boardwalk with shops, restaurants and ice cream. Don't miss a walk on the pier to admire the Big Red Lighthouse and see if a lucky fisherman caught anything.

It is so peaceful and relaxing, There are usually a dozen or more vehicles parked so I know others enjoy watching the waves too, In the summer we enjoy the beach, wading and swimming. All year round you can watch a beautiful sunset. There are good views of Big Red from the park. It is nice that you can park very close to the beach, so if there is anyone is unable to walk longer distances this is the perfect place. The only drawback is that dogs aren't allowed on the beach.

We found a KOA that looked promising. It's an interesting set up, speed limit is 4.93 mph, petting zoo, pool (closed for the season) and all the KOA amenities. We met the owner who told us his story about the Mohawk, if you get a chance ask him about it. Huge sites. Our site was buried in the trees which is great and it's a back in. Let's be honest if you can't back in your trailer into a spot should you really be pulling a trailer, maybe have your wife back it in instead. We are putting this KOA on our fall locations.

The pool looked so inviting if it would have been warmer, May 31st. The only thing negative I would say is no trees, hot days would be unbearable and the golf carts speeding around playing loud music till late in the evening. I have a seasonal at another campground and we're not allowed golf carts, I understand why now. Everyone is there to relax not to be entertained. Overall great experience and be sure to grab breakfast in the morning from the store! Thank you manager and staff.
