Overall great facility with the beach next door and good options for rentals. The staff were friendly. A few random items to note 1) hard to zoom in on their Facebook page the options and prices as you try to zoom in and it tried to call the number. I'd highly recommend adding an image with yearly options and prices separately from the call feature if only using FB for informational site. Same on google maps. 2) We did go on a week day morning when the weather was gloomy and they technically advertised opening at 9am and when we arrived at 9:30am it wasn't open. We called and left a message. Due to the weather they were opening late and someone was in sometime after 10am. So make sure you call ahead to make sure someone is in and leave a message if going outside peak times. We ended up going for a walk along the lake while we waited to see if they were going to be open. Prices seemed high but I'm not sure the going rate for these sorts of items though and everything is priced 'high' these days :) It was a great day to get out on the water. They have a variety of canoes, kayaks, paddle boats, paddle boats, and pontoons available to rent. Easily to get to, just feet away from the state park swimming beach, it's worth getting a rental to fill your need. Even when busy (and it's a very popular place), they make it easy to get your watercraft and get out to the relaxation and fun. Depending on the busyness, they may not have everything available for rent immediately, but since many people rent the smaller items for only an hour, there's pretty good turnover to ensure availability before too long. read more

It might sound crazy, but when I'm daydreaming about summer on a dreary, winter day, my thoughts immediately take me to the many afternoons I've spent kayaking and paddle boating at Lake Macbride, courtesy of the lovely folks with Lake Macbride Boat Rental. This place offers a great variety in terms of rentals (paddle boats, pontoons, canoes, paddle boards) they basically do it all, and for a very reasonable price at about $10/hour. There are few things better than packing a bag of snacks and brews and heading out on the water for a leisurely paddle boating expedition throughout Lake Macbride. You get a little bit of exercise, you soak up the sun, and you get some well deserved peace and quiet, with a great view of some totally stellar lake homes. They also sell a little bit of food/beverage/ice cream at the boat stand if you don't pack anything, and there's a beach! On particularly busy weekends (ahem, perfect weather/holiday weekends/ect.) you might want to get there early, or show up prepared to wait a little while for a rental. The owner of this business was terribly rude to us during our visit. She accused us of not picking up after our dogs even though we did and she started making a scene. I felt specifically targeted as a Latina because I don't think she would've done this to a white person as she treated everyone else perfectly fine, it was just us Mexicans who got the terrible rude treatment. read more

Called over two weeks ago got a reservation to rent a pontoon gave my information and credit card. However throughout the whole process never once's asked my age. However after we all got off work and planned or trip we got there to realize that we had to be 25. Very poor management and communication skills. Wasted 2 hours of my day and time. This is a must do if you are in the Corridor Area. Located along Lake MacBride, this gem offers a wide variety of boat rentals: pontoons, paddle boats, canoes, kayaks, and paddle boards. A couple of advice points.... *Call ahead for reservations. Typically, you can show up and get right on the water. *Rental season is just that....seasonal....summer season. *Lake MacBride has a 10 hp (horse power) motor limit. Operate boats no greater than 5 mph. *Sit-back and enjoy the scenery. Swimming from LM Boat Rental is a no-no. There is a public beach directly next door. *Ask for a standard boat if you want to fish. The owners are fantastic and staff consist of local high school students. Our favorite day trip vacation close to home. We rent kayaks/ canoes and even pontoons. Mostly we just cruise around the lake and look at these gorgeous lake houses- sigh,,, You can grill and picnic, and there is a nice little beach for kids to play in the lake, and a concession stand for them to get refreshments. I've rented both a canoe and pontoon from this boat rental now. My first time there I was wowed by how nice the boat house, docks, and beach are! Seriously, I can't believe this park is free to enter and that you don't even have to pay to use the beach! For the canoe rental... So cheap! $10 per hour! There wasn't a wait so we were able take our canoe out for as long as we wanted and just paid our balance once we were finished. We packed a picnic lunch and ended up finding a picnic spot on the far South side of the lake where we enjoyed some shade and the beautiful view. There is a fair amount of sailing on this lake too, which is always fun to watch. The canoes are nice and as far as lakes go, Lake Macbride is a fun one to explore by paddle - lots of small bays and it really winds around, making it far more fun and interesting to explore. For the pontoon rental... $50 for a fishing pontoon (standalone chairs instead of built-in seats, plus a flat "fishing dock" off the front," $55 for a regular pontoon (built-in cushioned seats). read more

We joined up with some friends out here on a lazy Sunday afternoon and what a great little gem this place is! You basically drive through Solon and dead-end into Lake MacBride park, where a public beach for kids to play resides as well as this boat rental spot. For $45 an hour you can rent a pontoon boat that seats 10. Word to all dudes - floating around as the skipper is totally boss! It's been a long time since I've driven a boat and while we topped at about 7 mph, it was a great time. Totally worth checking it out! read more

The owner was ridiculous. She became hostile after finding out our dog pooped, even though we picked it up. This is a dog friendly park, as long as you clean up after them. The owner clearly didn't want to listen to us and berated us in front of others. read more

What a great summer job this would be, if only I still lived here. Anyway, an occasional outing to Lake Macbride State Park would lead us down the ramp to the boat rental place, where they rent out fishing pontoons, rowboats, weird water-bicycle-floaty-things, paddle-boats, and of course, my favorite, CANOES. I LOVE CANOES. One of my favorite visits to Lake Macbride was with my father and brother. We all hopped in a canoe and did a little paddle-tour of the lake. Loads of fun. I highly recommend renting a canoe...they're also more affordable. I never ate any of the snacks or instant food sold at the counter, but I'm sure they were perfectly disgusting and filling, just the ticket. read more

Awful, incredibly rude service. After trying to pay for the rental pontoon with an American Express credit card and having it rejected, the cashier refused us service even when we offered to try different credit cards and pay any fee that had incurred from the refused card. The cashier raised her voice and refused to allow any member of our group to rent the boat. read more

I visited the Cedar Rapids area recently to visit some great friends. We decided to rent a pontoon boat and hang out on Lake MacBride for a while. I was utterly stunned at how cheap the boat rentals were here. For the 2013 season, to rent a standard pontoon boat for 1 hour was 45. For 2 hours, it was 90 dollars. I found this to be really cheap in comparison to many other places in Iowa. I come from the western side of Iowa and to rent any kind of boat for an hour on just about any lake is at least $100/hour. This place is definitely a great deal. Plus Lake MacBride is absolutely gorgeous. We had zero problems with our boat and the staff were really nice. We are definitely looking forward to coming out here next summer to hang out on Lake MacBride again! read more

It started raining 5 min. after getting our rentals, but we got partial refunds. A tad bit pricier than I expected.

Pontoon was great the water nice the people helpful, but now I have a $250.00 pending on my bank account, which ties up my money. The lake is great and deserves a 5! The rental rates were pricy but the equipment was nice. The management was incredibly rude. It was my sisters first time kayaking and she assumed she could have her daughter go with her in her kayak. They both were wearing life jackets a course. The lady working blew her top! I'm not sure if the lady was just having a bad day but that is no way to treat paying customers, especially when children were present. Overall, it is worth trying out but maybe have the kids stand on the beach with one parent while the other parent deals with the workers to get the rentals... just to create a little barrier from the madness. Full disclosure, they were extremely busy but a little professionalism would be appreciated. read more
