The games are really fast paced and entertaining, but we haven't yet seen a win. Tickets are relatively affordable and there's a good chance you could sit somewhere better if you sneak around lol. They get ya on the snacks though $$. Bathrooms are a little janky and you can expect a line. Standard good time sports outing for a winter evening in CR.

If you've never seen a hockey game, or you're just looking for something different to do, I highly recommend visiting. I've always loved that CR has been home to minor league sports teams for so many years. We're lucky. Uber family-friendly atmosphere. Roughriders ticket prices have increased by several $'s since my last review in 2014, but those extra dollars are worth it. I believe there are six different ticket price points now ($13-$25), and if you're really into hockey you may even consider season tickets. Roughriders season ticket holders are a hoot...I always seem to be seated next to them. :) From what I saw, staffing has definitely decreased over the years. I didn't notice any employees except for those scanning tickets, working in the concessions stands and those manning various booths along the concourse. Back in the day (10+ years) they used to have ushers that would help you find your seats. I don't know if these ushers were volunteers from the Roughriders booster group or if they were actually paid, but it was SO nice to have them there. Within the next 5 years or so the seating in the ice area might need to be evaluated (in the very least all seats could all use a deep clean). There is very little leg room and no cup holders. I saw many patrons using the seats as steps to get from one row to the next. Yikes. Talk about wear and tear. I also agree with another Yelper's statement (see Cedar Rapids Ice Arena reviews) that if you're paying for premium seats it would be nice to see the plexiglass cleaned more regularly. Also, the men I was with stated that the men's room near sections L & N was absolutely rank. After I heard this I opted not to use the ladies room. Concessions: stick with the cheese curds. They desperately need a new soft pretzel supplier. Bar: above average selection of beer, etc. available. Expect arena prices on all food and drink. Overall, 5/5 stars. You won't have perfection across the board given how many guests go through here on a nightly basis. Expect to spend at least $50-$100 per couple (dependent upon ticket prices, drinks/food). Parking is free! Recommend.

The fields are situated at the dead end of a steep, narrow road that leads you to believe this can't be the correct way, right up until it opens up to the facility. There is a large gravel parking lot, but it is laid out very tight making it a bit of a squeeze for everyone to safely get in/out as one set of games concludes and the next begins. There are five fields with all sand infield surfaces. The artificial pitching mounds are rather on the small side. One of the fields is laid out toward a hill and the steep hill is actually part of the outfield. We were on/near fields 1 & 2 all weekend. The bleachers have an aluminum roof over your head for protection from foul balls & as shade from the sun. Reasonably priced concessions and a pretty decent selection of offerings available for purchase. The grounds state "no carry ins" which is par for the course. During our two days the weather was in the high 80's with the humidity even worse. On day one several parents went back and forth to cars for bottles of water for our players and ourselves. The staff monitoring the gate throughout the day did not say a thing about this and for safety in super humid conditions it made sense you would allow your guests to carry in water. On day 2 the person monitoring the gate said "no carry ins" per the owner. There was no free water source available (that I saw at least) inside the park aside for buying it from the concession stand. I get as a business your trying to make money, but c'mon man how about using a little common sense with parents bringing in just water. For as much as I otherwise enjoyed the facility, the handling of the gate on morning two was a major turn off. (Side review: parents if traveling here for a tournament, consider staying at the nearby Best Western. They have a large pool & rec area for parents to gather. They also offer a solid complimentary breakfast to kick start the day.)

In 2016 my kids played fall baseball down there and none of the batting cages where working. This past summer my kids where in tournaments there and they only had 1 batting cage out of 3 working so if you wanted batting practice you would have to wait in a long line. The one year my kids played fall ball down there with their baseball teams they never stuck with the schedule that was made out. The schedule would change between 2-3 times each week and one time they tried changing everyone's schedule the morning of games. Some of us that where there for 8:00 games where told they wanted us to wait until noon for our 1st game. Fields 1-3 have good seating but if your kids are playing on fields 4 or 5 the seating sucks.

However, during the school year they are much better. This place has a good selection of free weights, machine weights, cardio equipment, a track, basketball courts, racquetball courts, and they even have a sauna and steam room. It is a convenient place for people with kids because they have a daycare room that is open after school and during other times.. Call them for specifics on that! The weight room can get pretty busy during peak times such as around 6AM And also around dinner time. There is usually a weight for some of the machine weights around this time. Everyone here is really friendly though and it is my favorite place to workout in town overall.
