Bad timing as there is only a portapotty in the parking lot for needs. It was so so clean but I wanted to wash my hands after and there was no water, water fountain no water, water hose, sink, and spigot no water. So I used my drinking water fountain for hand washing. Not ideal. After that fiasco, I walked across the street and went to the trails. I luckily took a picture of the map as I almost immediately got lost in the trail while thinking I was going to make it to the lake. There are bridges that are luckily marked and trees that are marked to kind of mark where you are. I found this out only after 30 minutes lost in the woods. There are many splits in the path that throws your sense of direction off. Anyway, I guess I enjoyed being lost on the trail and there was not much to see except a few bugs, squirrels, and trees. There was only one bush that had flowers and the lake was nice, full of turtles but other than that this is just a peaceful walk around the forest. There are little creeks, lots of homes, and different species of trees that line the trail. There also has been some vandalism as there are burn spots where it looks like some firebug was trying to start a fire on the trail. Overall, a peaceful walk but make sure you take a picture of the map in the beginning and pay attention to the markings on the trees and bridge so you don't get lost.

This is a neighborhood park located in Broad Bay Estates off of Great Neck Rd. The proximity to one of my favorite parks in the area, Great Neck Park is incredible. It's probably only a half mile. As a matter of fact the neighborhood opens a gate on weekends that connect the park and Great Neck Rec Center. The equipment is pretty standard for Virginia Beach parks and is in great shape. It offers some slides and climbing area's. The age appropriate according to the sign is 5-12 yrs. I really cannot see child over 9 wanting to play on it really. There are also swings older children to toddler. No shade is offered around the play equipment, so bring the sun block during the day. The amount of real estate this park occupies for a neighborhood park is amazing. I would say at least three acres. Someone has put up a volleyball net and a soccer goal, I believe this is not park owned. It;s cool that they have two very small shelters, just enough for one picnic tables and a few grills. A drawback is no restroom facilities. Also at issue is parking, there is no formal lot, so I imagine street parking is permitted. If your wanting a play area to yourself you would probably find this one with much lower numbers than the adjacent Great Neck Park. The GN park however is superior and recommend over this one. The biggest benefit that I see over other parks is the amount of field space for all types of activities. I am a fan and my kids enjoyed themselves too.

The park is in Bayside, around a mile East from Pembroke Meadows school on a dead end Pembroke Blvd. Pembroke Meadows Recreation Center is directly across the street. The park offers a beautiful water view with a canopy of beautiful tall pines for shade. There are around a half dozen picnic tables and a few charcoal grills. A drawback is no shelter, or restroom facilities. In the center is a small kids play area for 12&U which I find hard to believe a child over 9 would enjoy. It's in great shape and offers a curly slide and two small slides. There are also climbing elements. Also offered are swings for both toddlers and older children. Now from a nervous parents perspective. Also from a guy that lives at pools and preaches water safety. You MUST be extremely diligent when bringing small children to this park. Especially if they cannot swim and prone to gravitate to water. There is one large area that you can just walk right out in knee depth water and does get deeper. Come check this quaint city park out. Just don't tell the neighbors know I let cat out of the bag.

Initially, before I even visited this park my thoughts were, it's just a simple huge field with a…read moreflat path. Well I was wrong in a sense. Clearly it is a simple roundabout flat paved circuit, but it's so much more than that to many different people. One, it's great for me because I'm not supposed to navigate uneven terrain yet. There was plenty of real estate to do my walk and give the regenerated ankle some exercise. I didn't walk around the elementary school nearby, just the path immediately that encompasses the bathroom. That path alone twice was a little over 2 miles roughly. The park is perfect if you have well behaved dogs. Plenty of room for Fido to run around. There were several people with their dogs walking. I saw a man run his remote controlled car through the field and walkways, a kid and his parental vision ride across on a dirt bike, and a man and his little kid on his atv. You name it! The field is massive you really won't run into anyone because of the amount of space! There were several soccer goals out there too. I'm sure this a perfect place for Impromptu soccer games and football games, they probably even hold games there. There isn't many benches, I saw at least one aside from the ones in the two mini shelters. There isn't a lot of shade so if you want to get some sun this a good place. There are trees along parts of the path for partial shade. I feel this would be a good place to teach kids how to ride a bike, or to cruise on a skateboard. Close to the parking lot they have outdoor exercise equipment provided by AARP that is protected by sun shades which is wonderful! I got on the elliptical bike for a minute or so and did step ups on the various level platforms. It's a good resource for anyone really! I think it's great and I'm thankful that it's available for anyone to use. Super smart as well to place sun shades up high to protect people from the sun as well as to protect the longevity of the equipment. Bathrooms are close to the parking lot with water fountains.

At Woodstock, I haven't seen anyone picking up garbage or any rangers. They have a skate park that is pretty big and has a beautiful design. A full design tennis court. I think it's also cool how they teach you how storm water works. I used to be a water treatment operator, so it intrigued me. Kids usually leave things on the table or at the park. The first time, I found a kids purse and wanted to turn it in, but no one was available. The second time I saw another girl's purse and a Sonic The Hedgehog backpack. I had asked around if it was their kids. I guess this park is so trusting that they will leave things anywhere. That's a bonus.
