Initially, before I even visited this park my thoughts were, it's just a simple huge field with a…read moreflat path. Well I was wrong in a sense. Clearly it is a simple roundabout flat paved circuit, but it's so much more than that to many different people. One, it's great for me because I'm not supposed to navigate uneven terrain yet. There was plenty of real estate to do my walk and give the regenerated ankle some exercise. I didn't walk around the elementary school nearby, just the path immediately that encompasses the bathroom. That path alone twice was a little over 2 miles roughly. The park is perfect if you have well behaved dogs. Plenty of room for Fido to run around. There were several people with their dogs walking. I saw a man run his remote controlled car through the field and walkways, a kid and his parental vision ride across on a dirt bike, and a man and his little kid on his atv. You name it! The field is massive you really won't run into anyone because of the amount of space! There were several soccer goals out there too. I'm sure this a perfect place for Impromptu soccer games and football games, they probably even hold games there. There isn't many benches, I saw at least one aside from the ones in the two mini shelters. There isn't a lot of shade so if you want to get some sun this a good place. There are trees along parts of the path for partial shade. I feel this would be a good place to teach kids how to ride a bike, or to cruise on a skateboard. Close to the parking lot they have outdoor exercise equipment provided by AARP that is protected by sun shades which is wonderful! I got on the elliptical bike for a minute or so and did step ups on the various level platforms. It's a good resource for anyone really! I think it's great and I'm thankful that it's available for anyone to use. Super smart as well to place sun shades up high to protect people from the sun as well as to protect the longevity of the equipment. Bathrooms are close to the parking lot with water fountains.

I don't have to worry about her finding leftover human food or other random things along the path that she will try to eat. It is a decent size with a few paths that intersect. There are poop bags located at the front entrance of the park but also a station towards the back. I've never noticed them empty so that's a plus. There are two covered shelters with picnic tables and plenty of trash cans throughout the park. There are bathrooms as well but I've never been inside. There is a children's play area/climbing structure and I often see families playing there. There are about 30 parking spots but plan accordingly because this park is located near Veterans United Home Loans Amphitheater so this area gets backed up when there is a concert/event. Only taking off a star in my review due to stories I've heard from family/friends who say that there are stalker/creeps occasionally here. When the police have been called for an assault attack a few years ago they said that these complaints happened fairly often... not sure how it is now in 2022 so definitely stay aware and have some sort of protection on you and bring a buddy if possible!

There's a paved sidewalk that's wide enough for walkers, joggers and bikers. It doesn't offer much in the way of scenery, but we like the playground, which is in good repair and has several slides and swings as well as climbing areas and some cool hands-on puzzles for kids. It's been a nice spot for us during the pandemic, as it's never too crowded. We like to venture over after a stroll around the farmers market across the street.

Super Easy hike, great for people of all ages, dogs, and runners. The extras I love about this park is they have structures built out of natural materials. I will include pictures. They also have colorful art in random areas on the paths. I included a couple of pictures of that too. The paths are VERY well marked. It is impossible to get lost. They have a HUMONGOUS American ELm and near there is a small secret path area that is more like the hiking that I prefer. It is always nice to explore. They also have a kayak area with a kayak ramp. They have a little playground. Next to the playground is a covered area that they hold lectures. There is a picnic table area. They have 2 porta potties. There is a couple of buildings on site but they were not open so I'm just mentioning them. Parking was fantastic. There were quite a few vehicles when were showed up but we saw a few people but it did not seem that busy. So this is a win for us. Park is not covered so depending on time of day, the sun beats down intensely. Picnic tables are accessible, drinking fountain is also available as well as a spot to refill your water bottle. They have a small area to exercise on the metal bars provided. Two porta potties on site. The side trail is somewhat overgrown now covering some of the path, luckily there are plenty of branches that can be used as a walking stick to move the overgrown shrubs out of the way.

I toured the park on an early evening during the week. I am looking to host an event here soon and figured I'd check it out first before reserving. One must contact Parks & Rec to reserve the shelters located here. There is a huge shelter towards the back of the park that looks to be perfect for a party size of 100 or less. The park is beautiful. There is a body of water in which one can sit or stand and enjoy the views. Super quiet and I love it. There is also an area in which one can exercise by following the posted exercises in a sand pit. I love this feature! There is a playground for the younger and older children. Swings are even featured here! I love the swings :) This park isn't super huge but I think it's a great size and you are lucky if you are the only one renting a shelter... it's small enough to feature an intimate setting... like a private party but you only rented one shelter. Parking seems decent. I think 20 cars can fit into the parking lot without worry but if more start to show up, this could be a problem. I am not sure if overflow parking is nearby. There is a narrow street leading to the park so one may be able to park on one side of the street... if not...not sure what the back up plan is. I'd say there are plenty of trees at this park so shaded areas are definitely present. At least one grill is located near each of the three shelters. I'd recommend you visit this hidden jewel in Chesapeake. I'm looking forward to returning soon. Have fun and enjoy life :)

Parking on the playground side was limited, but there is plenty of parking throughout the park. Apparently there is a waterfront area, I didn't venture that far. Also I saw people exercising along the paved walkways. Some kids were a little rowdy, but that's to be expected I guess? Get there early to beat the rush.

The park is in Bayside, around a mile East from Pembroke Meadows school on a dead end Pembroke Blvd. Pembroke Meadows Recreation Center is directly across the street. The park offers a beautiful water view with a canopy of beautiful tall pines for shade. There are around a half dozen picnic tables and a few charcoal grills. A drawback is no shelter, or restroom facilities. In the center is a small kids play area for 12&U which I find hard to believe a child over 9 would enjoy. It's in great shape and offers a curly slide and two small slides. There are also climbing elements. Also offered are swings for both toddlers and older children. Now from a nervous parents perspective. Also from a guy that lives at pools and preaches water safety. You MUST be extremely diligent when bringing small children to this park. Especially if they cannot swim and prone to gravitate to water. There is one large area that you can just walk right out in knee depth water and does get deeper. Come check this quaint city park out. Just don't tell the neighbors know I let cat out of the bag.
