It's free. It's pretty. It has 11 lakes! We drove and walked around exploring. Took us a while to find some trails. I'm sure there are many more there but difficult to find and know where they go. There is a 4 mile horse trail. We stopped at a couple of pretty lakeside spots and walked down to the water. Many people fishing in the North End of the park. We'll be back with the dogs. Very peaceful and enjoyable outing. Be ware no restrooms. 1 port a potty I didn't dare check.

This park is absolutely gorgeous. If you enjoy nature and done mind the mud, the trail is joy to walk through. However, if you are like me and don't particularly want your dog (my walking buddy) to get filthy, on a rainy day it's nice to drive through as well. If you drive through the trail, be sure to watch out for potholes as there are many! Along the trail, there are many areas to rest and picnic or just enjoy the scenery.

I decided to update my review for Lone Star Lakes Park (LSLP) because I've been coming here more often--needing a run around the loop, taking photographs (you can see I'm a bit addicted), or looking for privacy. Solitude is the big reason why I decided to change my 4-stars to 5. LSLP is not flashy compared to some parks; the playground is boring, no restrooms (not counting port-a-potties), and the trails can be confusing. What LSLP *does* have is nature aplenty, peaceful quiet, and solitude. When I come here, I am able to let go the rest of the world and rest my mind. There is hardly anyone around -mostly people fishing- and no sounds of traffic. This is a blessing and that is why I love coming here. Also, as I mentioned in my first review, I have gone kayaking here three times. Beach access is simple and several different lakes to choose from. My favorite is the lake next to the playground--hardly anyone on the water and lots of little areas to explore. Lone Star Lakes Park is awesome!! I spent the day walking the trails around some of the lakes with my son Chris and the dog (Chop). We saw great views of the lakes, people fishing, and walking, great flowers and even a crazy area over run with Kudzu. The weather was perfect and the scenes were fantastic. We also walked along farms that adjoined the park and the fields of lush green were beautiful. I've been here a few times but never thought to mention it on yelp. If you are in the area and want to visit a quiet and beautiful place this is right up there with the best. Don't postpone joy - visit Lone Star Lakes soon. I've added some photos.

One of the boat landings was a good spot to introduce the Newfoundland puppy to the water.

My family and I really enjoy this park. We have come here many times over the years since we first moved to Suffolk in 2014. The walking trails are nicely kept and are a favorite place to take all of our dogs for a walk. We have taken the bikes here as well and it's a nice ride. The park is close enough that we can ride from the house to the park, around the park, and back home and it's quite the workout! We also fish here quite often. There are many spots to fish. We enjoy going to one of the many picnic sites so we can fish and grill out at the same time. My husband and his friends have taken their small fishing boat out quite a bit too. It's quite peaceful and comforting and it's always relaxing to spend the day at the park fishing. My only complaint (and I can't even take off a star I love this park so much) is the lack of restrooms. My husband and sons don't really care, but I feel a bit silly squatting in the woods! At my age, walking a half mile to the bathroom is usually not much of an option! I would love to see more facilities built, the one port-a-john is usually quite disgusting. I have not used the archery range but I am sure we will use it eventually. This park is wonderful and definitely a nice place to stop and picnic.

The spacious counter is conveniently located in the center of the store. It's staffed with a plentiful number of knowledgeable employees who are both friendly & helpful. Our quest for the day was for a Norfolk City Permit for my sister's new kayak. Although the Lake Smith/Lake Lawson Natural Area is in & maintained by Virginia Beach, the waterway winding through it is owned by Norfolk & requires a permit. It's far more convenient than applying for one on line & having to wait for the stickers to come. The second purchase was to buy a new CG approved life jacket since my friend in CG reserves told me they were monitoring kayakers after recent accidents. Her previous use of my life jackets from the boat I sold was to use them as back rests. No can do anymore!! They had a supply but none that fit my sister. So we left with only the City of Norfolk boat (kayak) license & sticker. It's a convenient & a valuable resource for us to be able to obtain the permit quickly and close. The same can also be said for fishermen & those who frequent the nearby waterways, inlets & the Chesapeake Bay.

Wow! My first thought was, I need to tell my niece about this rock wall opportunity for her adventurous kids! There's a cost for the climb, but a quick glance at the pricing seemed reasonable. Here's a fun place to shop and spend time exploring for the whole family. The staff was very friendly in directing us and our cashier, Curtis was helpful, too.
