Ok I have been looking for a local place to walk/hike and enjoy nature. I'm use to doing this in NVa where there are miles of trails that are tagged for this purpose so nobody gets hurt or lost. This is the second park I have come to in Sulfolk, and very quickly realized that the trail has been changed to some kind of disk throwing course. Sorry but I saw what they are throwing and decided I liked myself enough to not even bother. The sad part is that the trail was pretty and looked like it would have been fun. But again it's not smart to think that it is safe. The kids have a tiny area with kiddie equipment. Only reason I gave 3 stars.

I am ashamed that I've never reviewed Bennett's Creek Park (BCP) before. Being the local Suffolk Park Queen, it is unacceptable. I thought I had already reviewed it long ago until I happened to notice my error the other day while kayaking. Well, it's time to remedy my blunder! BCP is decent sized 57-acre park with many amenities. I first started going here with my boys to play on the playground and to go for nature walks. Then, once I bought a kayak, I utilized BCP for their three boat ramps to access the Nansemond River and Bennett's Creek. This is one of my favorite spots for kayaking because of their different water trails. One trail is much longer and more strenuous, having to paddle against the current, and another is shorter, much more peaceful and calm. I also love that there are numerous birds along the way. I saw many Great Egrets, Great Blue Herons, and I even spotted a Green Heron. Here are some other amenities: * Disc Golf (If you're unfamiliar with Disc Golf, check out this website: http://www.discgolf.com/. It has info on how to play and videos.) * Restrooms * Playground * Tennis Courts * Skate Park * Nature Trails (Beware that the trails are combined with Disc Golf.) * Covered picnics tables for reserved use (call 757-484-3984) * Crabbing and Fishing pier * Open grassy fields * During the summer, the Summer Concert Series takes place here at BCP. Check out the website for the dates and bands (http://www.suffolkva.us/parks/special-events). Out of the four parks in Suffolk, BCP is my second favorite (behind Lone Star). It's a fantastic place for boating, you can't beat the price--free! If you're looking for something to do, check out Disc Golf. It could be a new fun hobby for the whole family. Whatever you're looking for, BCP has it.

I will say this park is beautiful. It boasts a large disc golf course. It has a huge field that would be perfect to play a game of touch football. Very safe. Clean restrooms and a nice fishing pier. But, our main reason for coming here was so my son could enjoy the playground. Unfortunately the playground was not toddler friendly at all. More for older kids. The equipment had some broken pieces that were a potential danger and you can tell it's just old. Not many options to play on either. The whole area the playground equipment is on needs to be remulched very badly because it is mostly mud. So over all disappointed, but it still did the job if you have nowhere else to go.

Especially scenic and tranquil. There were couples fishing. People in boats. People on bikes. Friendly people, too. The pier is kinda gross, as it's covered in leftover bait that has dried up from the sun. Let's keep it real. So I probably wouldn't walk down there unless I was going fishing next time. There's something for everyone. A playground. Picnic areas. Skateboard park. I am impressed. This park is really clandestine, in the back of a newer community in Suffolk. I really don't know how anyone would know it exists other than its neighbors. But it's lovely.

Great small park to visit. There is a playground with 2 small areas (one for little ones 2 yos and one for 5/6 yos). A few benches around the area and a couple trees close to it but not directly over the area. So no direct shade over the playground. Many trails to explore along the wooded area and by the water. Frisbee golf stations are scattered through the park as well. There are 3 new boat docks and pier. They also have 3 pavilions, restrooms, a stage, skate park and horseshoe pits. Throughout the summer the city of Suffolk hosts a lot of events from 5k's, concerts and festivals. Lots of various wildlife to see if your lucky and might even see a fish or crab caught by the local fisherman. Great place for a quiet stroll or to let the kids loose to burn steam.

This hidden gem is a great spot to spend the day. Hidden away in this neighborhood is a great park with lots of open space, park, shelters, grills, and an amazing spot if you have a boat. This park has the same layout at munden point in va beach, which i also love. Come out with your boat, family and fur babies while you grill and enjoy yourself. Looking forward to spending more time here.

One of our favorite fishing spots! It's a beautiful place and we never leave empty handed. Plenty of fish and crab.

I am going to visit as many as I can before I move next month. That is my last parting gift to Suffolk.** Neighborhood Park #8 out of 14 Magnolia Park (MP) is the only neighborhood park in North Suffolk. I stopped by this morning, and at first, I thought it looked like a nice, clean 5-acre park. I wanted to walk around, but then I spotted a young man who looked kind of suspicious. He was alone, and just loitering around the fence and woods. There was no one else at the park, so I took some pictures from a distance and left. As a woman, I tend to be cautious at parks--especially when I'm not familiar with the neighborhood, and my instincts are telling me to be careful. I'm sure MP is fine--but just a friendly reminder with any park you visit. With that being said, here are the amenities: *Small parking lot *Playground with swings *Picnic Shelter *Grill *Paved walking trail around the park *Large grassy field *Dog Waste Bags Receptacle

I'm noticing this as a trend in a lot of area playgrounds so it may just be a quirk of the area that I'm not used to. The playground equipment is older but gets the job done for energetic kids. There was a handful of kids there when we went - probably all under 10 - and they were all having a really good time. My kids especially loved the view of the water tower.
