The outboard was only a 50 however, but with only 2 adults and 2 children on board it wasn't terribly underpowered. Pricing was competitive for the area. The marina was a bit tight but nothing I haven't seen before. There is very little traffic around their cove which makes for a quick departure and docking. I like that it's at the end of the lake which gives you an opportunity to do a full stretch without a lot of backtracking. The store was fully stocked with bait and tackle. This was one of the best boat rental experiences I've had in years and I would absolutely use them again.

I like to go for the fishing boat with motor because I don't want to paddle or pay too much but there are different options depending on what your doing. I would have preferred to make a reservation but the rentals are on first come, first serve basis so make sure you get there early. I wasn't sure how long I wanted the boat for so they let me book 2 hours and then settle up when I got back. I was a little nervous because the boat didn't tell me how deep the water was beneath me, but we didn't get stuck so it's all good. I was happy I brought my radio. I did get lost a little but was able to pull up a map on my phone. They have a lot of fishing equipment for you to buy as well. I had to take a "safety course" to be able to rent the boat but it didn't take long and wasn't a big deal. They didn't even give me a hard time about crashing into the wall on my way out. The steering took a little to get used to, especially in reverse. The first time I was here, I dropped the anchor in the water but it wasn't tied to the boat so it just dropped to the bottom.

It's a nice sense of freedom during vacations and even in our hometown. We've rented boats from many places but usually private owners. Renting at Greenwood Lake was a pleasantly different experience. We originally planned a full Saturday outing with a large group of friends but due to some unfortunate circumstances, many of them could not make it for that day and because the weather initially forecasted unfavorably, we decided to cancel the boat. Luckily, we were able to receive a 100% refund earlier around Wednesday/Thursday. The weather forecast ended up changing and looking way more favorable, so we decided to book a 3 hour rental with just hubby, our little kiddo and myself. I was concerned because there were only very early or late afternoon bookings but we settled on a 4-7p rental. They're located a little over an hour from us and they have lots of parking. You might have to wait a bit for customers to leave and for spits to open up in their main parking area but there is additional parking located within walking distance. We lucked out with some parking right in front. The upside with booking here is that they have a convenience store located at the rental office. You can add additional incidentals to your booking, including coolers, ice, waters, tubes, floating islands, kayaks, etc. You can even book a captain if you're not comfortable with or have no experience driving boats. They prefer you to arrive 45 minutes prior to your booking if it's your first time driving, or 30 minutes prior if you've driven before. We arrived 30 minutes prior, parked and hubby completed the booking transaction at the office before we headed down to the dock to retrieve our boat. There was a bit of a wait as the boat had been taken out and we were awaiting it's return. The pontoon boat we had, Cast Away, is on the older side. It has carpet which is super weird when wet (kinda gross but you get used to it). They must take very good care of it because, despite being carpeted, it showed no signs of mildew or smells or anything. It was just weird but I know many homes in the 70s had carpeted bathrooms so, go fig? Our original boat was the double-decker with slide and it looked to be newer. They have CLEAN portable bathrooms on the premises and many, "hands on deck", to assist with docking and un-docking. Kevin, one of the guys working here, helped us to take the boat out of the slip. He showed us where we should go and we set off. Because we only had a few hours, we drove south a bit, anchored in the sun and enjoyed a day of swimming before heading back to the bock. Kevin met us once again, and docked the boat for us. All that was left was to pack up our car and head home. We had an awesome time and will most definitely be back. We'll definitely plan better and get a newer boat. Pro Tip: take the less than 15 minute drive over to Bellvale Farms Creamery for some deliciously creamy ice cream (homemade with their own cows milk!) and sunset views...a wonderful end to an amazing day.

This review is strictly for the marina, not boat sales. DO NOT RENT A DOCK SLIP FROM THIS MARINA…read more I had a very bad experience with Lake Hopatcong Marine Corporation, particularly with the Sales Manager, Ryan. This marina is very greedy and only cares about making money. They do not care about their customers. I joined the marina in August of last season, well after the boating season had already begun. Even though I was only getting the last part of the boating season, they would not offer any prorated or end-of-season discount on the dock slip, so I paid the full amount because I understood that was their policy. When I first moved into my slip, I discovered there was a large cinder block sitting on the bottom that was completely hidden underwater. It wasn't visible from the surface and could have easily caused serious damage to my boat if I hadn't noticed it. I was surprised that the slip wasn't inspected and cleared before it was assigned to a customer. At the end of the season, my boat was one of the last scheduled to be hauled out for winterization. As the level dropped, the water around mv slin became extremely shallow. I asked if I could temporarily move my boat to a nearby empty slip that had deeper water for just a few days until my scheduled haul-out to prevent my boat from bottoming out. The slip was completely vacant for the season, yet my request was denied. I found it frustrating that such a simple accommodation wasn't made, especially when it would have helped protect my boat and wouldn't have inconvenienced anyone. After being forced to sign/pay my 2026 dock slip contract in October or I'd lose my slip (seven months before the season would even begin) I had an unexpected move out of state due to my job. I notified the marina months before the boating season started, giving them plenty of advance notice that I would no longer be able to use the slip. I wasn't asking for a full refund. I simply asked if they would meet me halfway and refund half of my dock slip fee as a goodwill gesture, especially considering I had paid full price the previous season despite not getting my slip until August. Ryan refused to work with me in any way or offer any reasonable compromise. I understand that contracts are important, but customer service and treating loyal customers fairly should matter too. Given the amount of notice I provided and the fact that they had ample time to rent the slip to someone else before the season even started, I expected at least some flexibility. Instead, I was met with a complete unwillingness to help.

Kurt and Dawn are probably some of nicest business owners we've encountered. This season we acquired a bow rider and were exited to slip it at flash, unfortunately to our fault we overlooked an email to confirm our slip for an extended amount of time and lost it. Honestly speaking we were very bummed that our boating season won't be as pleasant. You can bet we won't let that happen again, reserving a slip first thing next season!
