We haven't been here at sunrise, but the sunsets and stars are so beautiful... you can't help but slowly walk out when it is time to go. Lake Theodore is right off the road and not too hard to spot the entrance. For parking, you can park on the side of the road, right up to the entrance. There is a park & route below about 50 yards away, but that's quite a walk. You do go through a swirly gate and down a path, and there is a trail that leads to the back of the lake. There are spots you need to really pay attention to because of rocks and tree roots. Some trees are growing into the path. There is also some scat along the way, but hey! It's nature. What else do you expect! I have yet to take the path all the way around the small lake, but I have gotten halfway. It's easy to get stuck casting in spots because you'll see some big fish swimming by, or we start catching. In this small lake, you can expect to catch big mouth bass, small mouth bass, lots of blue gill, green sun fish, and a few extras swimming around. For us, the most popular bait we use is the natural big earth worms and night crawlers. For the big mouth bass, the seenkos are pretty popular... 3"-4" long (and we use the watermelon ones). I do like to head back to the front before it gets dark. You can see random spiders building their webs as the sun starts to set and heaven forbid I walk through those trees and go through a web and end up with a creepy crawly! I love bugs and fishing... but a random bug will make me shriek bloody murder, lol! When the sun goes down(on my side of town), there are so many stars to look at. Planes mostly fly over from the backside of the lake and those are fun to watch, too. I think we sat one night until 11pm casting and watching the stars. It was nice the moon was not out this particular night because it made it nice and dark and the stars shined so bright... As precautions, I suggest bringing bug spray and sun block. Bring some small collapsible chairs. Stock up on some water or whatever you drink. I easily spend 4+ hours at a time here admiring the beauty of nature. For those of you that know... tight lines!

As you drive up...there is a small parking area. You cannot drive in...there is a gate...so you park on the outside and walk in. There is a dirt path you can walk or ride a bike. By the water you will find places to put a chair and fish. This is a small lake. It is not for boating...or swimming.. There is a sign that clearly states no boats. It is so beautiful here. Peaceful. It would be a great place for lunch or just to sit for a while. I saw some ducks...and birds but no other wild life. It would be a nice place to walk your dogs. Don't wear new shoes...lots of red dirt.

My 23 year old son was a little apprehensive about going fishing for the day as the last few times we had gone fishing on party boats, we weren't very successful and the captain didn't seem to mind whether we were on fish or not. This was not the case with Jon. Jon made every attempt to find fish and to catch fish! Jon was very knowledgeable and very helpful when it came to fixing the occasional snag or making adjustments to our lines to get more hook-ups! Striper fishing is unlike most other fishing I've done. These fish can hit hard and put up a great fight...even the undersized ones! My son and I will definitely be using Jon's services in the future!

It was my son Adam's 11th birthday, and our original plans had fallen through. Tom didn't hesitate. He said he was available and we made a plan to meet at Browns Ravine. From the second we met him at the boat, he was awesome. Laid back. Easy to talk to. He immediately made Adam feel comfortable. Adam is a smart kid but he's naturally shy. Somehow Tom had him talking, laughing, and fully engaged within minutes. He was patient, cracked jokes all day, and took the time to really teach him. Not just how to cast, but how to fish. Adam learned how to clean, gut, and bonk the fish properly. Tom explained everything in a way that made it fun and interesting. We've taken our own boat out on Folsom Lake plenty of times and never caught a single fish. Not even a bite. Within minutes of being out with Tom, Adam was getting bites. He caught his first rainbow trout. Then a second. Then a third. We ended up catching a bunch of fish. On the drive home Adam looked at me and said it was the best birthday he's ever had. Unfortunately, I was beset with a life threatening health issue and couldn't make hunting work with a colostomy bag inside my waders. I made it known to Bruce, our contact with Golden Ram, that I couldn't make the commitment, so I contacted my blind partner, and he said he would take my seat. I then contacted Bruce, with plenty of notice, to let him know I filled my spot, and Bruce assured me in a text message that I would get my deposit in the amount of $584 back. Nick (pres. at Golden Ram), also agreed with me that my deposit should be returned. Over a year later, no refund, and nothing but crickets. Think twice before spending your money at Golden Ram...buyer beware!

There are no guarantees in hunting so it's about putting time in on the ranch and getting away from the main roads by hiking. We've hunted an executive blind and know exactly where this guy hunted. They were just bad duck hunters and made the experience bad for everyone else. All the surrounding blinds in the area are glad they are kicked out.

Not condescending or chatty as his focus was on the rods with 10 people on the boat. Captain was also fishing but not for himself, handed over the rod to a guest who hasn't landed a fish. Appreciate the attempt at a less crowded spot, didn't work out and went back to where the party boats were. I believe we would have gotten our boats limit, but there were a few kids enjoying the experience and were not paying too much attention to their poles, but that's OK. Few missed opportunities, but that's fishing. I know numbers can impact the reputation of the boat without really knowing the context. I will look exclusively to make a trip with Diamond or Lady K. Other boats that I have been on had arrogant deck hands and not so friendly captains.

The great thing about DSF is that they provide all the gear necessary for your catch. We were going out for Tuna as Bluefin are now found in the waters off the west coast, we were all pretty excited to go fishing. All we brought with us was food and drinks, having everything else included was a bonus. In the event we caught anything, they'll cut, clean, gill and give us fillets. The boat ride was awesome, no one got seasick thank goodness, there's ample seating inside and out. It was super foggy in the early morning, but cleared up by the time we started. I've not been on a fishing boat prior to this trip, and I was blown away at how scenic and beautiful the water was out there. The bright sunshine gave the water a super bright blue appearance, it was cool. Captain Kyle and his deckhand got everyone rigged up and ready to fish. The Captain is youthful and took his time answering questions and giving advice. His mixture of humor and knowledge of where the fish were was certainly a bonus because as soon as lines were in the water we heard, " Fish On!" That first Tuna took everyone on board including my son Parker to reel it in ( Posted Picture). What a freaking rush. It was exciting watching as everyone reeled something in on the boat. We laughed, joked and had such a fun day out on the water with friends. On our way back in to harbor the Captain pointed out several whale pods swimming around the boat, it was a trip seeing them jump. We enjoyed our lunch and talked about who caught the biggest tuna. In all honesty, that first one was the biggest in my book. I can't say enough great things about Captain Kyle and his Diamond Sport Fishing. Reservations were easy as charters go out practically daily either 1/2 or full days. The waters off of California are changing, getting warmer, they're seeing Bluefin Tuna and Marlin so who knows, maybe our next trip we'll catch something epic! Overall Impression: A+
