There is a posting not to feed them because they can get sick. I think someone must have fed one of them because he was lying pretty much lifeless in the grass. Po thang! There's lots of camping areas, group picnic sites, a boat ramp, disc golf, walking trails (um negative for me), equestrian camping, a dining hall, swimming area, fishing pier, parking everywhere and lots of BUGS!!!!

This is a pretty big park with about 234 acres to explore. There's an off leash doggie park, a…read morejogging or walking trail, a man made mountain to hike if that's your thang, (at least that's my interpretation of that big mound), a pavilion with lots of seating for an outdoor gathering with family and friends. The most serene and tranquil part of this park is the lake that constantly whisks fresh breezes off of it while listening to the trees rustle in its wind. Within the park itself is a 2.6 mile concrete hike and bike trail that runs from the southern tip of the park at Fairway Avenue to the dam on the lake. There are public restrooms, a modular playground, basketball goals, drinking fountains, and many picnic areas. There are also 2 lighted baseball fields, 2 lighted softball fields, 3 lighted football fields, and an 18 hole disc golf course. Lake Wichita Park has the only model airplane landing strip in the park system.

Denton Texas, U.S.A. is the city I most identify as a happy resident of…read more Though originally from north Colorado town of Greeley, in the foothills of the majestic Rocky Mountains, I was actually put on an air plane with mother and naturalization of a different sort took place, landing in the Bayou City for about five years, when we packed it all together and shifted home to the Denton area. I was positioned very well at 525 Roberts St., near the Texas Woman's University campus, attending the TWU Demonstration School, where my father taught Educational Leadership for over forty years before retiring. I attended the Denton Independent School District, starting at the Demonstration School, where students were actually learning how to manage their own lives as well as act as counselors who advise the young students who are involved in the the classrooms and necessarily need support to help organize their own personal lives as well as those of students. I opted for the less expensive route and decided to go to North Texas State University, which changed names during my senior year, 1985. For graduate school I opted for the University of Houston, where I learned basic principles of Organizational Behavior and Management, with a minor in the realm of Leadership, which my graduate school advisor Art Jago, who became a close friend and confident. For my research practicum I traveled to Budapest Hungary, during the winter of 1990, and taught at The Karl Marx School of Economic Science, giving a short presentation on the then-current rise of the innovators of the time period: Enron and Compaq Computer Company, and simultaneously writing my dissertation, on the laboratory experiment carried out by me personally with groups of ersatz groups of night time MBA students. My graduate school experience was quite fulfilling and expanded my world view considerably, with respect for my preparation in the public education options for the record and posterity. I really wanted to like it. It is dated and not clean. We stayed in the angler. The bed in room…read morewith the queen bed is not comfortable and the frames squeaks with any movement. The toilet seat in the master slides to one side every single time. The window AC is loud but I'm grateful it's there! We chose the self clean option and the reservation email said instructions were in the cabin. They are nowhere to be found. The coffee pot has burned coffee from a prior guest on the bottom and looked dirty. Kitchen utensils are bare minimum. Not even a toaster. Note to self... bring paper plates and plastic utensils! The toilet in the laundry room flushes very slowly. The full size bed in the secondary bedroom was the most comfortable but still not a great mattress. When we got here all of the cabins had spiderwebs and cobwebs. I would have expected the decks to be swept or hosed down but the chairs, tables and grills were all dirty. (don't forget charcoal!) The staff is friendly and the French fries and onion rings in the restaurant were pretty good. The rest of the food mediocre but we were grateful it was there as I didn't want to use any of the kitchen supplies after seeing the bugs and cobwebs. I think I just expected too much. Had I know that it was VERY rustic, dated and brought my own cooked food and cleaning supplies I may give the third star. Maybe I'm just too bugie. ‍

Dishes in the cupboard were dirty. Trash can was full. Windows were dirty and full of spider webs. It was sad because it could be so nice if they would do some maintenance, painting and cleaning

This little pristine lake sat out here for decades, providing water for the municipalities in the…read morearea. Little used until about 20 years ago it's now ringed with homes,hotels and soon high rises. The little lake that was, is fast becoming something we aren't used to in this area. I've boated and fished on it and it remains a great place to picnic. Check it out.
