Great staff, family run and EXTREMELY kid friendly. Both of my kids (now ages 11 and 15) learned to dive with Lake Norman Scuba. Initially, they were in the "Seal Team" summer program which allows as young as 8 to start. My daughter completed the summer teen Open Water camp the following year at age 13. My son did Seal Team again that summer while waiting to come of age and then once he turned 10, trained and did his open water dives to complete his Open Water Certification. For the Seal Team kids, they only use a private saline pool. For certifications, there is a nearby private quarry (with good visibility) where they accomplish the open water dives. Other excursions are planned on a regular basis through the year; in fact, my son and I went on one of these trips with some other adult students to Florida where he completed his open water dives. Equipment selection is good with some decent used and consignment pieces available for sale as well. The location is not far off the highway and if you are planning to dive at the PDRA's Lake Norman Quarry, it is a short 10 minute drive. An ideal location if you need an air refill or last minute o-ring or something. I highly recommend them. read more

Andrew is an absolute life saver. In a complete rookie move, I managed to drop my phone complete with wallet case in the lake. A friend knew Andrew and within minutes, he was on the phone assuring me he'd be there soon, on a midday Saturday no less. When he arrived, he couldn't have been nicer, mixing jokes while getting the info he needed to start his dive. Within a few minutes of being in the water, Andrew emerged as if he was talking on my phone, with all my wallet contents intact. I can't thank him enough as I write this review the next morning on that same phone. read more

My family of 4 was introduced to Lake Norman Scuba 5 years ago. With just 1 simple idea, we wanted to dive . I had no idea that 5 years later we would be Instructors and be traveling the world to different dive locations. The staff made this venture very easy for us with their professional and patient teaching philosophy. VERY Over Priced! Went in to get my tanks serviced, VIP. They tried to sell me a lot of things and services that I did not need nor want. Very pushy. I asked them to Nitrox VIP them. They called a week or so later and said that my valves needed to be O2 cleaned as well. When I picked them up they charged me over $200 just to VIP and Nitrox clean them. What they did is to O2 clean them for 100% O2 which was completely unnecessary. I told them I only wanted 32%EAN in them anyway. During the process they changed my burst disk as well, which is not needed. BE Carefull Here they will try to up charge you every chance they get. STAY Away!! read more

Good gear. Good staff. Terrible prices. I'm sure this is the place to go for Scuba classes and some gear that can only be found here. However, I shopped for snorkeling only and their lowest deals were at least $50 more (in my case $75 more) than any competitors I could find. I'd urge you to shop around. They also don't advertise their no return policy well at all, so after you walk out, you're stuck with their expensive goods. read more
