Eventually played a yellow ball as there was so much clover on the fairways it was hard to see a white ball. And, the $95 greens fee is the same if you want to walk or ride, WTH? Unless forced to, I walk the course, how golf is meant to be. So I had to pay a premium to walk. Nonsense. Played Craig Wood Golf Club also in Lake Placid the next day. Much better conditioned course, Much more golfer friendly. $45 to walk.

With players coming in from all over- approximately 150 golfers playing multiple tournaments over 3-4 days. A pretty good source of income for any public course. THATS NEVER GOING TO HAPPEN. 1st off that you for being open during the current times. Secondly, the older man in the pro shop charging for greens fees was very nice as was the guy tending to the golf carts at the end of the day. Unfortunately that is all the niceties I have to offer. The fairways were mostly brown. The tee boxes were unkept. The ruffs were unplayable and the greens for the most part by and large were trash. Not to mention- the absolutely awful POS who I almost told where to go and exactly how to get there and gave my 2 cents to.. but instead I just let it go as it was the last of the holes and it was decided they HE was the reason we'd never have a tournament there. I sliced a brand new ball in the water and went to get it out. The 1st two balls I got out we're mine, so I dropped them in the ruff beside the water. That's when I looked up to a screaming belligerent nasty POS screaming at me for trying to find my ball- that I had just pulled out. Yelling at me that even though there are no signs indicating this wasn't allowed- he was telling me so in the most a-hole way possible. Telling me he owns the golf course and that he owns those lost balls, including my ball. Stating he uses them for his driving rage, which is also pretty low brow as far as below par driving ranges go. So- 150 golfers at $60 per round and 9 rounds for each golfer at 3 per day for 3 days equals $81,000 not to mention all the money spent on BEER and drinks and food etc. PLUS all money spent in the pro shop on random things YOU WILL NEVER SEE! hahahah what a looser. And if that nasty guy does actually own the course, that I seriously doubt- he can read this and take a good look in the mirror and thing about what he could have done with $100,000 or so... my advice- never play here.

After spending a week at this hotel, I have many reasons why I would not recommend it…read more -The tub in our room did not drain properly, so we were standing in our own bathwater while showering. -There's no fan/vent in the bathroom. -The curtains do not open all the way, so you pay a premium for a lake view and cannot really enjoy half of it unless you sit right in front of it or go outside to an uncomfortable bench on a narrow balcony. -Most of the front desk staff was flat and unhelpful. -We asked the host to refill the black tea bags in the free tea/coffee area several times over the course of a few days-she would not do it and would only hand us 1 or 2 tea bags at a time. Is black tea too expensive and that's why the guests only get green tea?? (even though there was black tea days prior). We are paying $274 a night to be here for a week. That's a lot of money to pay to have to ask for black tea. -Very understaffed in the restaurant at night. I felt bad for the staff, they were trying so hard (except the host, she didn't try at all). -I talked to another guest who had lots of complaints and was on her FOURTH room because she kept having to switch due to issues. -The mini-fridge froze like half the food, (and no I did not put it in the freezer section). -Housekeeping was not prompt (would come around 3pm when we were back in the room to work remotely on a different time zone). -One of the self-service washing machines is SO loud you can literally hear it from 2 floors down. -The free kayaking is closed for the season while the other kayak rental in town is still operating...That was not clear when booking. The first day we were there, it was 85 degrees F and lots of people were out kayaking. It would have been nice to know that that wasn't going to be included. So overall, I would not recommend staying here. We wished we had stayed in Saranac Lake, but in Lake Placid there are plenty of other hotels with great views (and maybe the curtains would actually open all the way so you can see it).

Cottage 120 on 4th Fairway was fantastic, now I say fantastic because I went there knowing this wasn't a Marriott but a camping cottage. Now we did have some ant issues and Randy the Raccoon came to visit us by the fire looking for food ( he wasn't afraid of us neither.) Now why they get a 5 star review from me????? CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!! This was by far the nicest group of people I have ever meet at a resort (Paul, Gary and everyone else that works there.) I believe those skills have been lost over the years but not here. The ant issue was resolved immediately and any other issue we may have had was as well.
